I am an avid reader. I thrive on reading. I would like to read as much about raw food as I possible can. Can someone recomend a list of books on raw food that they have read. I am looking for more than just a recipe book. I have just read David Wolfes book, and looking for something simular.

Thanks!

These are just some of the titles I've read, and re-read. I too am an avid reader... (I love the pursuit and gathering of information, especially when it's on a topic I'm passionate and excited about)

''Conscious Eating'' by Dr Gabriel Cousens
"Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine" by Gabriel Cousens

"Blatant Raw Foodist Propaganda" by Joe Alexander

"The Raw Secrets: The Raw Vegan Diet in the Real World" by Frederic Patenaude

"The Raw Life : Becoming Natural In An Unnatural World" by Paul Nison

"The Sunfood Diet Success System" by David Wolfe

"The Live Food Factor" by Susan Schenck

"Living Cuisine: The Art & Spirit of Raw Foods" by Renee Loux Underkoffler

''Eating in the Raw'' by Carol Alt

''Green For Life'' by Victoria Boutenko
''Raw Family'' by The Boutenko Family

''Mucusless Diet Healing System'' by Arnold Ehret

"Your Natural Diet: Alive Raw Foods" By T.C. Fry and David Klein

"Living Foods for Radiant Health: The Authentic Guide to Using Fresh and Raw Foods" by Elaine Bruce

I'm sure I'm missing some, and I didn't include all the raw recipe books I've read and re-read ;) I hope other people come up with some great lists too!

One I still have yet to read is Alissa Cohen's book! Sheesh

I love Alissa's book too! It helped me to successfully eat raw, and stay that way. I especially love the recipe section:D

"Being" gave you a pretty complete list there!! I think every book is wonderful because you can take something that works for you out of each one.

I would also suggest:

"The Body Ecology Diet" by Donna Gates
(-- this is not a raw food book, but it provides a lot of very useful information about the digestive system, maintaining healthy flora, a good acid/alkaline balance, getting a wide array of minerals, and general well-being)

"Fit for Life" -- Harvey Diamond
again, not entirely raw, but is a basic natural hygiene book that has great information about food combining and starting a healthy diet. Great information

I'll keep thinking...

Doug Graham's book "The 80-10-10 Diet". It should be coming out after Thanksgiving. It is going to be a must-have for sure!

I don't think anyone mentioned, "Rawsome", By Brigitte Mars. I like how she has information on all fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds etc. She explains what they're good for, as well as they're ayurvedic properties. Sweet, sour, cooling, warming, yin or yang. That kind of stuff. I find most of the recipes to be similar in all the books.

"Rainbow Green Live-Good Cuisine", by Gabriel Cousens is a good read as well. He goes into depth on food combining and clearing yeast or candidas from the body. His program is set up in Phases.

Best book I ever read. Made me want to go raw.
WHY SUFFER? How I Overcame Illness & Pain Naturally
By: Ann Wigmore.
I also love her recipe book.
Recipes for Longer Life by Ann Wigmore
Any reading material by Ann Wigmore is a very good read. When she over came gang green in her leg that made me take notice, back in those days. I hope I am spelling gang green right. Any way she almost lost her leg to it. A very inspirtial book.

Vibrant Living by James Levin and Natalie Cederquist.

I love, love, love this book - easy, low fat, delicious recipes and a month of menu ideas! This book is a gem and I have no idea why it doesn't get more mention.

Missrawdiva,

Look in the back of David Wolfe's books and read the books he references to. He seems to go along the same lines as Arnold Ehret, Norman Walker, T.C. Fry, and Morris Krock. Most of the authors in the list are from some time ago, but all have wonderful information to share!

All these books sound great to increase your knowledge about what is out there, but I would recommend Dr. Graham's 80/10/10. I have read the manuscript, and it encompasses everything. It is being printed as we speak, and it should be shipped out in about two weeks.
