I am really excited about the raw living, have been trying it for 6 weeks and feeling good about how easy it is to eat raw. Every body thinks I am nuts or 'gone over the edge'! :p I guess you all have experienced the same. I am 53 and concerned about some symptoms I started having after being chronically exposed to Hydrogen Sulfide gas for an entire year in my new house with no plumbing vented! :( Not good. I have problems with memory, joint pain, and hair loss. Before that I had irritable bowel syndrome. Since going raw, the IBS is much better, just about non existant! I started my fledgling journey 6 weeks ago. My husband absolutely wont do the raw, so we do our own things in the kitchen. Probably a good thing, for me anyway. The detox period for me includes roving headaches, eye aches, itching on my back, light headedness. But I am committed to staying with this; can't wait to see a change in my memory, hair loss, and joint pain. I have lost 15 lbs. but have been stable for 3 weeks. Want to lose 10 more. If there is anyone in Montana, let's talk. So thankful for this forum!

welcome to the forum, and I'm so sorry you went through this challenge with your home, I'm sure you understand all that you can do with a good lawyer, and the seller, the real estate agent, the builder, the plumber, the inspector,
or the landlord
which ever it is, YOU have rights,
I'm so happy that you've found the raw lifestyle, you will be amazed at how wonderful you will feel, once done with detox.

Greetings! You are at a magical age! My hubby has fond memories of when he did some ranching in your state....... I have never been there but would like to. He won't go raw either - even though I have shown him the videos about factory farm raised for meat animals and he seemed thoroughly disgusted - he still goes and gets his meat! Well, just keep creating raw things to try to entice him and maybe he will turn. Hope you find some raw people from Montana. Raw potlucks are great!

Thank you for your kind thoughts, the whole thing IS in litigation, 3rd year and counting! I understand detox is different for each of us, but what is the average length of time it takes?
Thanks again.

I think that someone posted 1 year for every decade SAD if I remember correctly. I think it is all very individual based on things exposed to and SAD habits and body type. I am called a "root" but you can see by my join date that I haven't been doing this very long.

Magical Age, huh? Thanks, that gives me reason to reconsider this time in life. I really believe that every day ought to be relished as wondrous. All the more reason to eat the raw way, right?!
You should visit Montana; it is the most wonderful natural state left in the country if you like wildlife, countryside, and small town America. Where do you live? I doubt if there are two people in Montana eating raw for a potluck, but I certainly will be looking.

I read somewhere that it takes l month of being raw to undo each year of SAD. Hope that's true as I"m 54 years old

Hi Montana Vegan,
How are you, I see that you joined in October of this year also. Great, maybe we can support each other. Do you know of other raw foodists in Montana? How long have you been raw?
I haven't got a dehydrator yet, but am about to. Have you tried anything with it yet?

I don't know anybody personally that is totally raw. I'm still working on it for myself.
So far I've only been able to do a few days raw at a time.
Right now I'm trying to eliminate all refined foods and add more raw meals.
I really need to learn some of the creative meals in Alissa's "cook" book.
Otherwise a raw food winter in Montana looks very boring. Not much variety here.
Do you have Alissa's book and DVD?
What part of MT do you and your husband live in?
