Hi everyone!
I'm not 100% raw yet, (trying to moderately transition) just wondering if I can get some input. For breakfast, I had a smoothie that consisted of: leaf of rainbow chard, clover sprouts, 1/4 c concord grape juice, 1 apple, 1 bananna, 2 dates, blueberries--it was drinkable but I don't recommend it :o . For lunch, I had a flatbread cracker (not raw, flax, wheat, sunflower seeds, etc.) 1 avacado, tomato, slice red onion, mustard. I've been snacking on some cashews since lunch as well. Everything we eat is organic. Does this sound good, am I getting enough nutrition? My 1 1/2 year old still nurses a lot. I am loving nuts too, I think I bought $100. worth yesterday, almonds, cashews, walnuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Can I eat too many nuts? I really crave them! Thanks for any advice, I am new to this:)

Hey Michelle it's Michelle! It sounds really good to me, except I would add some fruit, and greens in there as well. If you are not able to eat them whole, try making smoothies or juices! I remember in the beginning of my raw transition I ate a lot of nuts too... it was the food that made me keep raw! After 16 weeks of 95-100% raw I have laid low on the nuts, I just don't need them as much... although watch out for me during my period!!!! Keep up the great work.... just add more nutrients in there, if not for you, for your baby!

I am hardly the thriving expert but I know that transition is hard and if you are managing to stay raw - well that in and of itself is a major accomplishment! I didn't do well with the smoothies at all. I generally prefer my greens juiced mono with perhaps some lemon or lime if juiced at all. There are plenty of smoothie recipes if you use the banana - I just was not good at it at all.

Nursing a baby is putting extra demand on your body so - again, I think that you are doing great! and again, I am sure that if you use the banana you will find tips from other nursing mothers.

Put nursing nutrition under the banana and search - there is much info.

I would try to avoid wheat and other grains as much as you can.

non, Gabriel Cousens M.D. also recommends B-12 supplementation for nursing mothers.

edit, I think he recommends it for all raw vegans too.
