Please help...still doing things trial and error...I'm making a salad calling for 1 1/2 cups wild rice soaked for 4 to 5 days...well, I keep peeking at it...day 4...still hard...today is day 5...still hard...I'm soaking it in the refridgerator (seemed to be the only spot to not get knocked over)...could that be the problem...

and for soaking regular brown rice...how do you do that...??? I had a great curry rice meal at AuLac and would like to try that, too....

soooo.....how to soak...I'm feel so lame but everyone has been so kind and helpful...I just gotta ask these things...

love, Elaine

The wild rice doesn't sprout, it actually splits. It should only take a day or so, not 5 days. I've never soaked it in the fridge. That may be the problem. It should be rinsed each day if you soak it for more than a day. Wild rice isn't really raw though.

Thanks Raven...I'm new and still experimenting...I didn't know wild rice wasn't raw...I did just read where it's toasted...hmmmmmmmmm, the recipe I have is from a raw book , perhaps there's another way to buy it...oh well....

I appreciate your response....love, Elaine

hopefully my post in that link will answer some questions.

also I understand AuLac uses some sort of live culture to prepare their rice, one guess is maybe something like a lactobacillus based probiotic? miso starter (aspergillus oryzae)? anyone know?
