;) O.K. Team. Some of us have done an October exercise challenge and have tracked our daily routines (30 minutes daily +) for the month of October. Now it's time to look ahead toward November...just a few days away. Let's start a new challenge for the month of November & kick it up a notch. It is open to one and all. This month we can throw in a weight loss/maintenance challenge. We can post our current weight (optional) along with a reasonable goal for month's end and an exercise goal. Anyone interested? Sometimes it helps to "belong to a group" for such things......especially when the tempting holidays begin.
starting weight:
goal weight:
exercise goal:
Anyone else wanna join? The more the merrier. If anyone wants running tips I'd be happy to cyber coach.....My rec on that is to go for minutes not miles. Aim for a 30 minute workout that you can gradually expand to 60 minutes and do the walk run approach....walk 5 minutes, run 1 minute (repeat 5 times) On your 4th day walk 4 minutes, run 2 minutes (repeat 5 times), On your 4th day walk 5 minutes, run 3 minutes (repeat 4 times). On your 4th day walk 4 minutes run 4 minutes (repeat 4 times) On your 4th day walk 5 minutes run 5 minutes (repeat 3 times) On your 4th day walk 4 minutes run 6 minutes.....then walk 3, run 7......walk 2, run 8......walk 1 run 9.....then by God you'll be running 30 minutes straight! If it's too much too soon stay on the cycle you are on until you are comfortable. People "burn out" because they expect too much too soon.....I can type this program out a little better if anyone is interested. And no, I never really had a coach for running myself....just sort of transformed my own body and learned on my own.....I WAS NOT A RUNNER EITHER....So, if I can do it YOU CAN TOO! :D So, let's start getting psyched up for next Wednesday.....Shun that candy 10/31! You'll be weighing in Weds. morning!!!!! I hope we can make this a big challenge....Forget "The Biggest Losers" We'll be WINNERS!!! Join us?

Last month I greatly improved my exercise output so I am jumping into this one before Linda has a chance to drag me in. So there Linda. I am a big girl now and can do some things without my mommie.

Yes, I am in. I will weigh in Nov 1. I have been off the scales 3 months, so now I am scared to do it  . What will the number be..hmmmm... From scale obsession to scale phobia ! So goal is for my size 2 skinny pants to fit nicely, they are snug now and I am wearing my normal size 4.
I did much better in October getting my daily exercise in. I missed a few days when I was traveling, and walked alot more than usual, my weight training is still limited due to time, and lack of interest. I went from 18 yrs of gung ho bodybuilder to "ho hummmm attitude" about weights in a year ! I am sure I will get the desire back.
SO for now I am becoming a Runner :D . I ran a nice 3.25 miles yesterday good pace. I was happy with it after the month of mostly walking !
Bring on November !
I would like to join but I just started exercising again and I will be leaving to go on vacation mid November. Is this where we have to commit to 30 minutes of exercise daily or can we make our own exercise goals (i.e. 3 times a week). My schedule is extremely busy and don't think I can do it daily. Not to mention I have not been regularly exercising for some time and want to be realistic. Perhaps if I join in I should wait till I get back from vacation or should I wait till next month?
I like the idea of the exercise challenge for accountability/encouragement.
What are your thoughts?

*Having a terrible time with this system and a firewall for a wireless. Can't have everything, I suppose.
I like exercising. Just doing 20 min. of Pilates, 20 min of stretch, and 20 min of Hula.. wow, my waistline dropped like a stone. I was very impressed. :)
So, can we do anything we want... or did I miss something?

It can be as flexable and realistic as you all need it to be. For me weekly weigh-in accountability works. So, we start the first as a baseline and since it's a Wednesday we weigh-in each Wednesday....which if you think of it is most accurate as many of us tend to eat more or differently on the weekends. Mid-week would be a nice break! and motivator!!! As far as exercise 30 minutes + daily is ideal but if it is not realistic do what you need to do....Maybe for the accountability factor our individual goals can be posted in our journals/quote area. That is what I am going to do....I know schedules are busy but finding 30 minutes for yourself is something you really deserve....even if it's just stretching!!!! But if you can't, you can't. I take a "rest day" once a week myself...so, let's get motivated!!!! Are we ready... We have until next Wednesday to think about and set our goals!!! Good luck!!! I'll post my goals over the week end.

Please do join us. Make your own goals. Just a tip, the best way to "stick" to an exercise plan is to schedule it into your day just like brushing your teeth :D . Maybe if you just "schedule" 30 minutes of "me time" daily it will help get you started....You don't even HAVE to exercise those 30 minutes. Do some reading, meditate, go for a walk, stretch, anything you feel like doing as long as you get that time to do it........and you can carry this through your vacation...This may evolve into a routine for you where you feel comfortable exercising for the full 30 minutes.... I hope this helps! Good luck. If you want help setting up a "plan" I'd be happy to help! ;)

Yes, I am in. I will weigh in Nov 1. I have been off the scales 3 months, so now I am scared to do it
feeling your pain rf...I am going through the same thing but it has only been a couple of weeks. I am a size 4/6 though not as tiny as you....I "anticipate" weighing 140-145 but would like to be 135ish. I am 5'8" tall....I just run better at that weight (less to carry  ) 5-10 pounds really does make a difference when you run long distances. It's like carrying 1-2 bags of flour! I guess that's why I can run so far now, I used to weigh about 185.....as the weight came off the running became easier....and here I am.
I love helping people get started with fitness goals,...because I have been there and understand....I think that's why I get nervous about the scales too....I yo-yo dieted for so long it just seems like the weight will automatically creep back up!!! But being raw has helped tremendously. My weight has stabalized (I think) to where it should be. I gotta share though and maybe others can relate....I have a huge appetite...I mean I read these threads of people eating 3-6 pieces of fruit a day + a smoothie and being so full and I think "man, I'm a slob" because I eat that for a snack!!! :) Seriously, I am a quantity eater....and I only share this because I know there are some of you out there struggling with your weight because you think you are supposed to limit your raw foods. And I am here to say just listen to your body. If you want 10 apples (or whatever) for lunch eat 10 apples! The only thing I do try to limit my quantities of are my fats like nuts/seeds or I'd probably eat a pound at a time :o ... Your body will tell you when you've had enough especially if you mono eat your meals (one food or one food type)........And another thing, I think we get "caught up" in numbers on the scale (I AM GUILTY!!!). Our SOCIETY sets the standards unrealistically high. So, here's the plan....Set a realistic goal for your weight, and your exercise, and modify it as needed. No need to feel bad/guilty here....We will all be CHEERLEADERS for each other OK? so let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO T-E-A-M!!!

Didn't mean to "hog" the thread but I wanted you to see how I am "setting up" my goals.....Do you all think that's a good "weigh" :D to do it? Our goals may all look different but when we POST them it does call for accountability doesn't it? Who needs to wait until after the holidays? Not us, we don't overeat that SAD stuff anyway!!! This will help all of US stay focused on raw while the rest of America drowns themselves in gravy!!!! I can't wait to see everyone's goals and get started myself!!!! I've never done this before. I read through the challenge twice, and the new to running thread, and I looked up said articles on new to running. I have been walking one hour, 4-5 days a week, since last January with a friend. I think I'm ready for more. I'm gonna commit to the 2 minute run, 4 minute walk type thing and work my way up to being a runner. Pray for me, I'm not known for sticking with diet or exercise! I've been about 90 % raw since Sept 24th and have had a 20 pound weight loss. I have about 50 more to go... I am ready for the challenge.

Anything, everything...jsut take time for you ;)
Thanks, Diantha.
I can't really weigh in until I get a new scale. My husband said there was almost a 20lb difference between the bathroom scale and the scale at the doctor's office. You don't think I was doing cartwheels do you? ( lol )...
I suppose I'll go get another scale. Although, I must say - my muscle tends to be very dense, and when accumulating it, my weight registers oddly. I lost the entire "muffin top" off of my waist while wearing size 9 - and exercising.... and the scale virtually stayed the same. 'Course, this is the same scale that said my husband was 20lbs over what his doc's said, too, so ...
I gotta get myself back out on the RiverWalk daily.
I so enjoy it when women I know come up to me in private and say, "Wow, you really look wonderful! What are you doing? What diet are you on?" LOL... I've not been fully raw, either, and I'm still doing wonderful. ( Will kickstart myself again, here, soon ).
I'd like to add in something for others here to consider doing while they are exercising...
Skin brushing.
While your body is changing in size ( up or down ), and while you're detoxing stuff our of your system, brushing your skin helps with so many things, you'll wonder why you didn't do it more or before. I've gotten my husband, one daughter, a few friends and I think a doctor doing it.
We now use the harder Yerba brushes. We started out much softer, though.
Anyway, something to consider..
Now, let me get my Yoga pants on and do something.

So, is that 20 lbs to your advantage? and BTW, muscle weighs more than fat so as you began exercising and built more muscle before when you worked out-the scales (whether accurate or not) may not have changes. I am very solid too and don't LOOK like I weigh as much as I do but because I work out so much I have more muscle. My only problem sometimes is that pants will be formed right to my thighs because I have muscular legs (I call them man legs!) but they're not fat, just "big" :o ...oh well, can't have it all I guess!.....Good luck in your quest for scales!....and the skin brushing is a great idea....I will try to remember to do that more....before/after exercise???? or at a certain time????? just curious if one time is better than another?

hey,
this is awesome...i definately need this right now. Thanks Dianthia, what a great idea!
Starting weight: 95 lbs.
Goal weight: 100 lbs. (I've got the fat, I just need muscle now)
Exercise Goals: gain muscle, tone up, exercise a little daily. I want to become a runner but am not "allowed" to. grr.
My only problem with the weigh in thing is that we don't have aa scale. But I'll be getting weighed by the doctor so I will let you know then. This will happen next thursday.
I really need some motivation..as I weigh more(/equal to) than I ever have in my life and yet still am not allowed to get exercise. It is very frustrating as I thought I was going to finally get to participate in indoor track this year! argh!

Might I just add that I think it is a great idea that we are starting this November 1st (as opposed to 1/1 like most SAD people). Since we all eat raw anyway but do get tempted (at least I do) during the holidays this thread will help us stay motivated. Let's go team RAW :D
ps: Don't forget to post your goals! (and no need for a finish date, we'll just keep it going right???)

Hey I am stealing your goals format OK ? I am sure you do not mind ! I am not stealling your goals though..mine are simply about same as yours ! Twins !! :D
:) Anyone can feel free to use the same format....Once I put things down "in writing" I'm more likely to stay with it! I am concerned with what my start weight will be since I have not weighed myself in a few weeks...It's leftover psychological paranoia from a formerly overweight me.....I live in fear of yo-yoing but shouldn't now that I am raw I know...But you can't change your inner voice can you?
How tall are you RF? I have strayed a bit from 8-1-1 and know I feel better when there so I am glad you also have that as a goal so we can "talk shop".....If anyone else wants to set up their goals like ours just edit your "signature" and plan away on your goals!!!! ;)

10-29-2006, 05:22 PM
DI some days I do real well on 8-1-1 but today I did not eat enough so when shopping yes I bought nuts, just a small amount but  a serving of nuts puts me over ! So the goal of 8-1-1 and stating it publically is GOOD ! I feel so much better when I eat that way !!
I have been off the scales for awhile now so I have a fear of what i will weigh too. Mine is also a phycological issue from my "I must always be thin/fear of gaining weight" ( I think i am still in my OK range BUT If the scales top over 129 I will cry  for sure. But there are other things in life more important than weight. This iI am learning as I get older !!
I am 5'6 1/2 so I am shorter than you by 1.5 inches. In my pre bodybuilding days I weighed in the 115 range. Then as the BB years went by the muscle added up. My highest weight was one off season (eating lots of protein ugh !! ) when I was competing, I got to 133 and I felt terrible at that weight, then would compete at 115 ish. I like weighing that little but it is too hard to maintain and keep muscle on too, so 124 is a good goal for now !
OK so now everyone knows my weight...and my issues...

Count me in! I need the motivation of a group...after my knee injury I got kinda depressed about not being able to walk -- my favorite exercise -- and kept hoping it would heal fast so I could get back to it...but healing is slower and I got more depressed....well now I am remotivating myself and am determined to get in my daily exercise -- at least an hour a day...I'd like to get in two hours a day. The exercise is so critical to my weightloss/body reshaping efforts as well as my mental attitude.
Okay, so tomorrow I'll post my current weight and goals for the month. Today, I'll figure out an exercise plan for the month.
Thanks for the motivation!

The main thing is to share with all of us so we can keep each other going...Having a bad or particularly difficult day? Post here. :) The problems I had with weight loss type support groups in the past (before raw of course) would be the guilt I would feel if I admitted to binge eating or "cheating"....That's what is so great about this forum and I hope, this thread. It's ok to make a mistake. ;) One day, one meal, one workout at a time we will become healthier, stronger individuals. It's time for all of us to feel good about ourselves and make this commitment together to tackle our own health issues and goals!!!!

I was just posting on my Walkin' Ain't Cuttin' It thread, and then saw this one. I'm certainly in. Exercise is a key component I have been sidelining for too long now!
Currently I weigh ~ 168lbs & My goal is ~ 135 lbs
By Christmas ~ 145 lbs
I have a yoga class each Tuesday morning.
I am walking an hour every evening, after which I'll stretch and do some bodyweight exercises at home, and usually I do lunges and squats while out.
I am going to incorporate little bursts of jogging into the walks, like a block every 4 blocks or something...
Once I get going, I'll get my routine down.
I need something else though, if I'm going to hit that goal.
I'll be working on eating mostly raw, I'm transitioning step-by-step, so I'm at a highraw, 90%+ level now... almost there!

I saw your other thread and was going to link you to this one but you beat me to it! GOOD GIRL!!! I think you will come close to or even reach your goal, especially if you are semi-new to raw....A lot of times the excess baggage is "intestinal clutter" and it weighs a lot more than you think  You may want to try a cleanse of some sort as you are "losing"???? I don't mean a fast because those are difficult to adhere to if you are working out..."CleanseSmart" puts out a 30 day cleanse and there are many others that someone else may rec...??? Since Nov. 1 is tomorrow you may just want to trot on over to your local HF store and stock up??? Good luck.. I myself am nervous about weighing in tomorrow since it's been a few weeks. I anticipate my weight to be around 145+ or minus a couple of pounds but I have been eating way too much fat! So whatever it is it is and tomorrow will begin a whole new mindset! Right :o I'd like to see 135 again, I need motivation!!! Anyway, welcome all to the pre-holiday thread we've created!!! :)

As for goals... overall to pick up the pace. Lately, I've only done morning stretching. I feel better when more active. I may add some dance exercise on the weekends... I do love doing that!
Main goal... to learn Speed Walking... I have an instruction tape. So, that will be my main focus... learning the form this month... and as I do... I'll pick up the pace.

I REALLY NEED THIS! I have been wanting to start for long enough. It is time! I want to loose 10-15 pounds (goal - 135). I am 5' 7 1/2".
Now what form of excerise do I want? At 26 degrees outside with snow on the ground, walking is out, at least for lazy me! I'm thinking 15 minutes of rebounding, some jump rope, and balance ball excercise. Baby steps to 30 minutes a day -- maybe 15 in the morning and 15 in the evening.
I can do this! Starting tomorrow!
I'm 99% raw -- I'd love to do the 80-10-10 thingy, but will have to study up on it. I love nuts and I know that is my pitfall.
Also want to drink more water and skin-brush!
Thanks for twisting my arm into getting up and getting started.

Well, it's time to start my day, and this wonderful challenge. I cringed and held my breath as I weighed myself this a.m. Does it really count as it's still the middle of the night? JK, I know I am accountable and fessing up here and now. I guess even too much "raw food" can be too much. I feel "heavy" but know now only things can get better, especially with my rf support group here. I lose initial weight quickly so I am psyching up for next Wednesday's weigh-in already!!! Remember, if anyone wants to copy the format I did just go to your user cp and change your signature to whatever you want your goals to be.....We're in this together! I'm ready!!!! Will have my "juice" here soon before I run. I may walk/run since I've been "down" for a few days fighting this ear/sinus infection! I too was nervous for my weigh in since I did a challenge to stay off the scale for 3 months ! I do not think I will do that again. The stress of not knowing is worse than the obsession to weigh in regularly ! So from now Wed. weigh ins for me !
Any hooooo I weighed same as I did 3 months ago, same as a year ago...GRRRR...as Di says it is the nuts for me so I am so glad to do this Nov challenge with great support from Raw Friends !
I am making my fitday journal public this month to keep me accountable to those who "may" look !

I've put my goals into my signature... I want to lose 12 pounds this month and I want to aim for 2 hours a day of exercise.
This morning I did 30 minutes of TaiChi and 20 minutes of floor exercises. I'm hoping to get in some more tonight after church....
Oh, after reading others' goals, I'm adding to mine! I'm adding drinking more water and doing the skin brushing....
I'm 100% raw...low-fat raw... but have actually been adding in a bit more fat...moving away from the 8/1/1 and toward 20% fat..with that fat being forms that will give me more EFA's.
Off to update my sig line...

I am still fascinated with the 110 pound weight loss you've had! That's incredible! Were you raw for the entire loss or is this new? I am so glad we have this challenge going. I think I was too easily rationalizing that "all raw" is good....which it is, in moderation. Alrighty. I did do the October challenge, but I never really wrote it up! oops! I did walk daily 2-4 miles. This month I'm going to add to that more stretching and jump roping! I can't run, because 3 weeks I did and my ankles are STILL stiff.

I would love to join! I am interested in becoming a runner (at some point) but for now, my exercising consists of walking, rebounding, bike riding and doing my Praise Moves dvd (a Christian alternative to yoga). My long-term weightloss goal from now is about 45 lbs. but for this month's goal, I hope to lose 10 lbs. Thanks for the encouragement and support!!!
November Exercise Challenge:
Starting Weight: 189.4
Nov. Goal Weight: 179.4
Fitness Goals:
Walk, rebound, ride bike and/or Praise Moves for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Ideally, I will do more than one type of exercise a day, in the morning and then in the afternoon! I will commit to 6 days a week, with Sundays off for my day of rest. :)

I am still fascinated with the 110 pound weight loss you've had! That's incredible! Were you raw for the entire loss or is this new? I am so glad we have this challenge going. I think I was too easily rationalizing that "all raw" is good....which it is, in moderation. Awww,nuts....they did me in.So I make this "nutless November" for me aside from a prepackaged/rationed Lara Bar for my marathon/etc... I am going to fitday right now to track my "foods" so far...
Di ;)
I did it all raw...no more than 20% fat but for about 5 months of it doing no more than 10% fat but always 100% uncompromisingly raw vegan.
I am planning to allow myself a higher fat Thanksgiving...

Phew! I just tried a Pilates Sculpt tape, with weights for most of it, and I am tired! I couldn't do some exercises yet, and my muscles were super-shaky by the end... it was about 40 minutes I think.
It feels good to have worked so hard :) And surprise, I'm not hungry!!!
I'm going to do some housework, then get in a walk today too.
I'll post my current weight on Friday, I don't have a scale at home, which is good, in a way, and unfortunate in another way  Last week when I weighed myself, last Friday, I was 169 lbs. Yech.
Went for an hour-long walk at a pretty good pace, it's so cold outside!!!

Hi! Im new here and havent started raw yet but I am looking to find out how to get started...I will be happy to start exercising the way you are explaining. So here is my goals...
current weight: about 160
goal weight: 130
5'8
:p
Ok I am here (I am a little reluctant because of my crazy busy schedule and upcoming vacation). I hate commiting to something, if I don't know if I can achieve it but it is better to try than not try at all right. Ok My current weight is 210. Which is way higher than most of you! :( My weight loss goal for the Month of November is to lose 8 pounds (2 pounds a week). My exercise goal is to work out at least 3 times a week. Maybe I can even squeeze in some fall walks (however, it is getting cold in Michigan). Anyway I look forward to getting to know you all!!!

Diantha -- your on!! Don't think I'll make 145 in a week though, that would mean 4.5 pounds. Today I've been reading Garbiel Cousens book Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine and he talks about the benefits of calorie restriction (chapter 5). I am impressed. Hopefully impressed enough to follow his advice.
AND -- I excercised this morning -- 15 minutes on the mini tramp. :)
Yea for me!!! I can do this, one step at a time!

OK lady! I love a good challenge! I just bought that book a few weeks ago too....some of it went right over my (true :) ) blondeness but I liked it and loved some of the recipes....although I really want to learn some NUT-FREE recipes for the holidays!!!! I think I am recovering from my ear/sinus infection and will be ready as I'll ever be for the NYC Marathon on Sunday...I am shooting for under 4 hours for the race...prayers help!!! Good luck this week BDraw!
BTW, we do have a lot in common, but you're ahead of me on this one. We have 5 children, 2 of whom are adopted! One 10 years ago (she's almost 20) and one last year (she's 10)...The boys are 10, almost 13, and 16.....so I know how busy you are......(DON'T FORGET TO TAKE TIME FOR YOU!!! :p )

went to a workout class that is an 1 1/2 long and that focuses on strengthing the entire body using the body's own weight. I also did a little extra cardio on the treadmill. I definitely need a re-birth as far as my exercise routine goes. I still feel so unsatisfied. I am going to push like crazy this month until I get to the place I want to be at.

Lunar,
I totally sympathise with your frustration at being kept out of track this year.
Maybe there are some alternatives that would interest you and pass muster with all the concerned folks?
Yoga can be pretty vigorous and build some good muscle as well as flexibility and calm the mind. Many studios have an intro deal--first class free, or a low rate for a week pass or something.
Also, what about weight lifting? Don't have to get all crazy with it, but it can be a very effective way to gain solid muscle mass (and weight!)Fruitarian 1 has a lot of good links and recommendations in the exercise forum for body weight exercises. Another bonus of these types of weight-bearing exercise is that they improve your bone density, which should be a concern for all women!
Here's a website I found recently about women's weight-lifting. There's a lot of info, and I think that the woman who wrote it has a superb physique. Not at all over-muscled, but really good, everyday definition and musculature.

As for me, I started the day with my usual stretch routine. I'm thinking to switch to morning walks over the weekend... right after I'm warmed up with stretch. Last night, I focused on form and kept a moderate pace... I was more prepared for the temperature... and enjoyed being out.
For those that are used to year round walking or jogging... is it okay to have the cold air in my lungs when I'm working out like that? Or maybe even good for me?

DAY 3 and we are all doing so fine with the daily work outs. I find the minimal 30 min a day, everyday regardless of what it is, makes it less stressful on me and the daily busy schedule !
45 min hike along river, soon it will be snow covered and we will not be able to take advantage so "make hay while the sunshines" :D .
only 5 min on the rebounder, hope to do more later. For now I must get to work.
2 days 8-1-1 no slip ups on the fats....today day 3 ! :o off for the day..have a good one all !
I drank some fresh juice made from oranages, apples, part of a lemon, carrots, pears, and banana to get some energy to do my workout.
I did 25 minutes of taebo and 10 minutes of abdominal workouts both at home. I can't remember them being this hard. I know it just means I am more out of shape. I am tired!
I hope to stop at the gym tomorrow after work to get in some more exercise!

I haven't been very good with this. But I went for a 15 or 20 minute bike ride today. It was freezing cold and I didn't realize it until I go out there, it felt good afterward though.
I know it isn't much, but as I said it felt good.
And I have good news! I talked to my doctor and she said if I maintain my weight for the next two weeks I can be on the indoor track team! I am just so nervous because what if I can't do it? I know that is dumb but what if I am just horrible, or it affects me negatively? I will have no excuse other than it is my own fault and I will get in trouble. That scares me to death. Can running be bad for your bones??? I want to purchase Garden of Life's Bone Density Calcium tablets as a back up...and I think own of my grandmothers may purchase them for me...maybe. Any way, does any one think it would be bad for me? I really want to do it...and I weigh a little higher than the weight I was naturally so...I should be ok right? I did want to do swim team but I am even more frightened to go back to that...
sorry this was so long. Great job everyone! Just don't kill yourselves ok? Try not to get so wrapped up in how much fat and calories and exercise...just BE and be happy and thats how you will get the most out of life. We are such a small part of Earth's cycle...we come and we pass...but if we bring happiness and true meaning to our lives than we are fulfilling our purpose.
Someone mentioned the benefits of calorie restriction...I don;t think its a good idea. thats how eating disorders begin, seriously. even to those who would never think they could ever have an eating disorder. If I eat lower than 2300 calories a day (with like no exercise at all) than I lose weight...and its not like I have all this muscle that would make my metabolism high...but any way...
I love you all, and great job!

And Raw Magwene,
thank you so much! it was so wonderful to read your post. I would LOVE to do yoga but there isn't much that is close enough to me, and if there is it is like 8 or 12 dollars per class or something like that. But it is an excellent idea, and probably the best thing for me, too bad. From a parental perspective, it would be so much cheaper and easier to do a school sport in which I can get a ride from my neighbor who does indoor track and it doesn't cost money (although last year it costed 75 dollars to play a school sport!). But weight training...I definately have to get my butt in gear with that. I WANT to but then I just get too lazy, and that scares me because I have never been like that in my life. Sometimes when I'm bored I'll randomly do 10-20 pushups. Lately I have been doing at least ten every day...but thats not really anything I guess. but yeah I have to get going on that, thank you for the website!
thank you again!!! :)

I don't know what I am going to go for today. Since my popcorn experiment (which you can read about in the november raw challenge)... I am going to stay away from doing anything that puts too much pressure on my ankles and feet. I think I will focus on some pilates movements and do a bunch of ab stuff... staying away from the jumprope, treadmill and the elliptical. I think I will do a series of thigh exercises, leg lifts and maybe some upper body cardio boxing moves. I'll give my chubby feet :o until Monday and then it's back to the push.
Happy Sweating and Happy Saturday Everyone!
Well I did make it to the gym after work. yeah! I spent a half hour on the elliptical machine and did some time on the other machines for inner/outer thighs, and chest press. Then I spent more time doing abdominal exercises on the floor. It seems the more I work out, the more I realize just how much I am out of shape and it is discouraging cause I know this will be a long road.
Good job everyone!

I've decided I'm not a fan of Taebo. I did the Basic tape two times through last night but didn't feel muscle burn or fatigue at all. I see where there is a high risk of knee injury if the kicks are done wrong. So, I think I'll try something else. Or, just spend more time practicing my TaiChi forms.
I've not been able to do my distance walking for what seems like forever but is actually about a month due to a knee injury. It seems...seems...better. I haven't tried going for a walk resently but am thinking of doing so this afternoon to see how it does.... I'd sure love to find that it's healed and I can begin rebuilding. I know I need to keep building strength in the muscles that support the knee so that I'm less likely to exerience such an injury in the future. TaiChi will help with that. Even if it is healed, there is no way I can do the half marathon on the 12th that I had been training for so now I have to focus my attention on the full marathon (the Myrtle Beach Marathon) in February.

Oh well Frecs, I know you'll find something you love; I like his boot camp series dvd's okay enough... they really challenge me or give me a quick burst of energy when I need it. You are right about the knee concern though regarding tae bo - don't want to re-injure or worsen anything. I''m kind of in a phase where I'm bored with everything and lacking motivation. I don't usually do anything on Sundays. I am going to preview a new yoga tape I purchased and I might even join in and do some of the exercises while I'm doing paperwork in my room. Other than that, I am mentally preparing for a week of serious challenges.

Big Congrats to the NYC Marathoners! That's awesome!
As for me, I enjoyed some longer but, leisurely walks with my dogs over the weekend. I sure liked walking on the ground versus cement or asphalt. At home there are some unsurfaced walk paths but, they aren't lit... and I am walking when it is dark. I can enjoy these walk paths on the weekends though... :p
Well, time for my morning stretch program...
A positive and active day for all...

Wow the Maronthoners RAAWWK! Okay, okay, I know.. a little cheesy but this site is very inspiring and it is proof against others who believe that eating live foods somehow turns you into a weakling and that you have to have a greasy heart clogging burger to lift weights or run an endurance race like a marathon.....WHATEVER!
Thank you Star.... I appreciate the kind words.
I believe that feeling is back... that urge to really push, push, push and challenge myself and my body. At least for the rest of this year (I think) I am going to stick with M-W-F for the bulk of strength training. I might throw in some light and easy stuff on T-TH (like thigh and glute work). I have created a routine (for the thousandth time:o ) to challenge myself and we'll see how it works. I'll post more later.

I'm BAAAAAACK! Yes, I was right behind Lance......an hour and 1/2!!!!! JK, I did not see him but daughter and hubby were "stationed" at mile 25 water station and saw him! They took a pic....with his "motorcade!" He had more publicity than the elites  ....I was booking sub 9 miles until about mile 15-16...then my hip (plate side) started aching and I must have compensated with my left leg because I ended up with a wierd blister on the tip of my left pinkie toe and a swollen "shin splint" on the left leg as well  I decided it would be better to slow down than walk....another thing I need to experiment with is something better to eat the night before....We were at a pasta dinner and I had a salad with balsamic vinegar on the side.....It wasn't substantiol enough so I ate lots of fruit I had back in the room but I seemed to run out of steam about the same time my hip/leg started hurting.....I am going to experiment with things from now on the night before a long run so that when I run Pheonix,AZ in January I have a better pre-race meal....If anyone else has any ideas feel free to post them....I had a Lara Bar and several bananas the morning/day of the race but I just feel I need more "substance" and today I am absolutely STARVING!!!!!!!! I have already had a smoothie, breakfast (fruits) and lunch (lots of veggies, etc....) and 3 (yes 3) Lara Bars already today.....but yesterday did not eat hardly anything due to the race and then rushing around to get back....I figured my body was SCREAMING for some food after burning over 3,000 calories in running alone yesterday!!!!
I appreciate the prayers and well wishes from all of you! I thought of you guys too! It's funny, I don't really "know" any of you personally but we are all so similar I feel the connection! Thank you all! I will be taking a few days off to recuperate and then will start thinking about the Phoenix race....which is 10 weeks away.....anyone else interested in it? We still have openings on our marathon team!!!! go to www.ctf.org and check out how you can join the team if you are interested! Phoenix will be fun! Girls only! (not the race but the group I am meeting is all friends from all over- no family members coming with us.....join us!)......

That is awesome Diantha ... I had alot of my running friends praying for ya as well.
This morning I got up and ran a 40 minute recovery run. It was short and sweet. I drank 2 green smoothies yesterday after my long run, and added some hemp protein powder to it as well. This morning, I was a little stiff, but once I got outdoors and warmed up it felt good!

Good job Diantha, I can relate to the leg thing. I broke my leg ten years ago they put a rod it to stablize it, the rod is still there the leg dosn't hurt but I've developed a bone spur where they drilled down the leg bone to put the rod in. I carry a waist bag with extra goodys to snack on when I run anything longer than ten miles, that way the energy stays constant, maybe that will help. Forever young

What kinds of "goodies" to you carry? all fruit? What do you eat the evening prior? I think that's the meal I am not getting enough from. Also, how did you know about the bone spur? x-ray? My break was only 10 months ago so it's probably not that yet right?

Haven't checked in for awhile, have been doing great with my exercise regime though :)
Walking at least 45 minutes every day, and during my last 2 evening walks I pushed myself to jog for a block now and then. (This was really uncomfortable, but not painful so I'll keep on keeping on!)
I also did a couple strength sessions, I have no idea the names of the exercises, but my muscles are SORE.
And stretching in the evening...I love this when I get out of a hot shower.
I had a day off yesterday and am feeling like a head cold or something :(
All this marathon talk has me feeling a little silly posting, yeah I went for a walk... Congrats on that Diantha! I'm in awe of marathon runners :D

Wow! You runners really impress me! I hate running -- too many things jiggling, including the heart pump. :o
I spent the weekend with teenagers on a church retreat, so no exercise and no sleep. Today I have completely forgotten about my commitment until right now, so tonight while watching some lively movie, I will get on my trampoline and boggie!
Congratulations Diantha!

Well I must say that I am really kinda down right now. I am not going to the gym after all for my workout class. My feet are still swollen. I've been drinking water all day and keeping my feet elevated but they are still swollen. I really can't believe that popcorn on Friday did all this. I have to use my better judgment and not do anything strenuous. I am just going to do some pilates, ab work, movements that don't require jumping or anything. I had an entirely new stength training program ready for tonight but my feet look bad and so I am going to just do a modified version of everything. I've never had my feet swell like this in my entire life. Since I started raw in August, I haven't had a single problem and then some popcorn on Friday and BOOM.... okay, that's enough of my whinning. I'll do what I can .... got to get my feet back to normal size. In the meantime, happy sweating everyone.
Lavender - Wow I can't believe your feet are still swollen. I am sorry! :( Anyway you are doing the right thing by taking it easy.
I just got done early tonight at work so now I am heading to the gym. I will do the eliptical machine and some abs and maybe more.
Dianatha great Job!
Gotta get moving!

Well, yesterday and today I did something I haven't been able to do for 6 weeks -- I walked above a stroll! I did a "test walk" yesterday to see how the knee would handle it...no pain...only a slight tightness at the end of the 2 miles. So, this morning, I did another 2 miles, same result. Since it does start feeling tight near the end, I'll stay at 2 miles for a week before trying to increase. Hopefully, soon I'll be back to doing longer miles and can set up a schedule to get myself ready to racewalk the Myrtle Beach Marathon in Feb '07. I sure have missed walking.
I won't do Taebo anymore...too easy to hurt my joints if I move wrong...had a little taste of that Saturday...nope, don't need that! So, I'm focusing on the Tai Chi, walking, and I'll add in other muscle toning/building exercises.
Oh, I'm averaging an hour to 1.5 hours of exercise pre day. Hopefully, soon I'll be able to say I'm meeting my goal of 2 hours a day.

I always carry date logs maybe some celery. Eat like there is no tomorrow the evening before, you might as well fill the tank up, I try to eat something every 5 miles if I run over 10 miles. Went to my chiropractor for an adjustment and I asked him to x-ray my hip since I was having quite a bit of pain and it showed up then. It has gotten better now since I have been drinking a lot of celery and carrot juice, that will dissolve bone spurs.
"It has gotten better now since I have been drinking a lot of celery and carrot juice, that will dissolve bone spurs."
Forever Young - Is this really true? I have a heal spur and work on my feet for several hours. It has seemed to get better as I have lost weight but if I am on my feet for really longl hours, it does seem to flare up again. Where did you find out this information? If this is true I will be including celery as well as the carrots in my juice.
I just got back from the gym and did an hour of cardio on the eliptical machine and then some time on the stationary bike and then did some ab work and stretching (70 minutes).

Hi All... :D
Hey lavendarJ... Sorry to hear about the swelling in your feet... hope you're able to take it easy... and are on the mend soon.
Hey Frecs... I would love to learn more about doing racewalking for marathons... if you have any suggestions that would be wonderful!
As for me... just a simple walk last night with a quicker pace. I have such a long ways to go... but am enjoying being out and walking. I need to take more time on the racewalking form... maybe over the weekend.
Wishing everyone a positive day!
I got off work again early tonight so I am on my way to the gym. I am going to do a similar workout as yesterday. The eliptical machine, abwork, etc.
I have to get my weight down. I am motivated cause I watched a video tape of me years ago. Looks like a completely different person. :( But it gives me something to shoot for!

Lunar, that's great! I'm so glad you're getting the chance to participate in track! You can do what needs doing to keep your weight stable! I'll be thinking "extra muscle mass" on your behalf.
I think it's great to get those push-ups in every day, but I find I have to have a goal, or I don't stay with it. This month, the goal is to do 25 kneeling push-ups consecutively, all the way nose to the ground. This will be a great accomplishment, as I have only very recently thought about working on some upper body strenght. I also do some squats and some walking or stationary lunges, some bicep curls with 8-12 lb weights, and play around with hand and arm stands -- these are fun and challenging!
Running is GREAT for your bones, as it is a weight-bearing exercise...it increases your bone density, just like any other weight bearing exercise (biking and swimming are not considered weight-bearing). Weight lifiting is weight bearing, though.
Has anyone heard of/practiced CHI RUNNING? It's supposed to be a pain-free running technique, and I'd love to hear anyone's experience of it.

Well, I am up and about to do a treadmill "walk" this a.m :D .....NYC and "LIFE" really wiped me out  this week, but rest IS important after a maathon. Today I feel I NEED to at least walk for my sanity (hectic work week) and to remove the remainder of lactic acid buildup from my legs! I am so pleased my weight is going back down to normal.....although I expected it to be up due to the increased fluid retention and muscle waste leftover from the race....so I am going to be optimistic and post my goal for NEXT Wednesday to be 143! I am back to 80-10-10 faithfully now too...did well over the week end until the day AFTER the race when I was STARVING and ate some extra fats....I am back on track now and so thankful for the accountability factor of this thread! Happy sweating today rf friends!

My max miles have been 12 mile Hill run and I would hurt after that...26 yowza !! I can only imagine.
I missed posting for awhile due to the busy life, still traveling, still building the house 1:15 min away  8 weeks off schedule. Soon I hope this is over and I am back to normal, closer to my work, less travel ! Goal is to move over the Holidays..maybe !!
SO I got 4 hours of training in this week, mostly fittv and hiking to take advantage of the weather.
My diet was good the days I was home, the days on the road Sat mon Tues I ate to sparce and then ended up eating some nuts and seeds trail mix for convenience, fast meal.
I started my "friend" last night...so my weight is up 1.8 this morning, not surprised as I was craving more salt on my food the last few days...duh ! My period seems to now have a mind of its own and is changing...(hello 46 !) ...so now weight in officially till Sat I would think !
Off to do step/treadmill/rebounder mix....

Hi All... :D
This thread is sure helping me stay focused with walking... Thanks :p
You runners have me curious about marathons... are there many people doing racewalking in them? I have a history of knee stuff... so jogging is out for me. But, I am in the process of learning racewalking.
I have quite a ways to go... just getting started. I am interested... How do you train for doing distance? Is there a site I can learn more about this?
Wishing everyone a positive and active day...

I racewalk...or try to. ;) Yes, there are more and more people racewalking marathons. You'll see more marathons even promote themselves as "walker friendly". There is a yahoo group "marathonwalkers" that you might be interested in joining as there are some heavy hitters on there -- guys that teach racewalking seminars.
I'm just now recovering from a knee injury so I'm going to miss walking the half-marathon I was planning for the 12th but I'm going to train to do the Myrtle Beach Full Marathon in February.

I am enjoying our exercise challenge! Have been mostly doing my rebounder every day, 30 minutes. It's not a lot but it's something I can stick with each day for now. I figure if I can just decide to do that for the rest of the month, then I won't be biting off more than I can chew. In December, maybe I will add something to the routine. Little steps........thanks, everyone, for the motivation!!! It's working for me! :) Have a wonderful day!
Checking in! I did my abs of steel tape at home and some inner thighs and stretching. My stomach is driving me crazy so I feel like I have to concentrate on getting that down. It is just so uncomfortable having this huge pouch on me. Also I noticed by not being very active the last few years that my flexibility has really decreased so after my workouts I will spend time stretching. I lost 2 pounds since last week. This is seeming to be the trend since my second week on raw. I am good with that though. Everyone says it is better to lose slowly than too quick. At the end of this week I will have completed 2 months raw! Yeah!
I have a lot to do to get ready for vacation so I better go!

Diantha - I would also like to learn more about your experience with 80-10-10. I have been reading and listening to all of Dr. Graham's interviews online and I am very impressed with all he has to say. Seems to really be quite easy but make so much sense.

First of all Morn, I am so proud of you! You are really sticking to this challenge and sounding more motivated every day! You go girl!!! 80-10-10 is 80% carbs 10% protein & 10% fat....sounds crazy after we were all taught "carbs are bad"...blahblahblah...but it is incredibly energizing, cleansing and easy to follow....as long as you monitor your fats....esp nuts, a little goes a long way!!! I rec. going to fitday.com and starting a (free) account to help you track your progress...I use it to help keep me "in check" + you can monitor your fitness & weight goals too....Good luck! I am happy to be feeling better today....I held back and walk-ran this a.m. I am going to ease back into it like my body is telling me too....My next "race" is not until January (9 1/2 weeks away) so I'll be fine! Let me know if you want more info. on 8-1-1 (80-10-10) or go to foodnsport.com.....It really made a difference when I stopped losing on raw and wanted to "feel lighter." Good luck!

I was dissapointed to find out that my exercise class was canceled. Yet, I had a back up plan, I made up my own little boot camp series which consist of walking lunges (with weights), jumping jacks, side lunges with windmills, chest squeezes, ski jumps, planks, high jogs, and jumping rope in intervals. Next, was the treadmill for jogging/walking intervals and 20 minutes of high intensity elliptical machine work.
Really, the above is supposed to be my Thursday routine but oh well.
Tonight for strength training:
3 sets each of :
bench presses
squats w/ weights
bicep curls
leg presses
lat pull downs
walking lunges
seated rows
leg extensions
military presses
chest flyes
chest presses
dumbell hammer curls
That's going to be my routine for M-W-F for a while and then I will re-think for the new year on ways to increase my strength training and decrease machine use for training; I didn't get a chance to do my pilates this morning - I'll shoot for tomorrow
Happy Sweating!

It has been a strange couple of days, but finally I got back on schedule. It's bedtime, but I refused to hit the sack until I exercised, so I put in a movie and rebounded for over 30 minutes. I'm satisfied.
I lost 3.2 pounds, but that could be because I was on a teenage weekend retreat and brought my own food (not much) and then Tuesday I fasted, praying for a good election. . . to which I was disappointed, but I like the weight loss -- just hope I can maintain it! ;)

My weigh in is today. I finally started to do a bit of real strength training yesterday. Sure I have been randomly doing 10 or 20 push ups at a time randomly throughout the day but I needed to start doing some actual strength training. I'm a bit sick but it felt good and gave me a little boost.
this morning I randomly felt like doing jumping jacks hahaha so I only did like 200 and then had some breakfast.
I go to the doctors today at 12 :30 and I am SO nervous....if I lost even a pound I wont be allowed to play sports or gym! This is beyond frustrating as I weigh the most I ever have and none of it is muscle whihc is new for me at this weight. I miss sports so badly! After so long I am almost afraid to start them up again though. It's been a lonnng time, but I really want to. So I am crossing my fingers.
I'll let you know how everything goes afterward.
I think I'll do some strength training in a few minutes.

I ran for 45 minutes straight this am. BUT got on the scale and gained a pound. :( I may have to look into what this 8-1-1 is all about. I went to Dr. Grahams lecture when he was here in CA. Even bought a book for runner, but I am still confused about what to eat. I guess mostly fruits. Hey Di... I wish I could sent you an pm... but I don't have access.

My results:
I maintained the weight. (upper 90's) Every thing is good, healthwise, as it has been my whole life lol. If I maintain or gain for next week I will "only" have to see the doctor every 2 weeks and my exercise (sports and gym class) restriction will be lifted!!
Finally. Its annoying though, this really is a natural weight for me right now, most likely where I would have been naturally I mean. My time for physical development is simply much later than many of my peers. It's not my fault! Both of my parents were the same way. My dad didn't get facial hair until his mid-20's and now he's got lots of it.
Any way...I did like 20 or 25 minutes of strength training...not much but ok and I can feel a slight difference in my body. I think I will go for a little walk now maybe. I would ride my bike but the tire is flat and I have no means by which to inflate it. oh well..a walk will be nice. I should start walking at a brisk pace daily if I am going to start indoor track. Good thing indoor track is supposed to not be that intense...its like an hour long practice. It will be FREEZING though since it is winter and they don't actually run indoors. I'll be needing WARM spandex and underarmor or something!!
Sorry, I am babbling.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Did mine for the day!!! (30 minutes that is)
I keep remembering, way back, after baby #1, I think, I rented a stationary bicycle and for 15 minutes, 3 times a day, I rode as fast as I could. And I lost weight doing it. That memory has stuck with me for a very long time (don't ask how old baby #1 is now). That is my new goal -- but using a rebounder -- morning, afternoon, and night -- 15 minutes. I can do anything for 15 minutes!
Hi all - I went to the gym and did an hour yoga/pilates class. I will be leaving Michigan for Arizona 7:00 a.m. on Saturday so you probably won't be hearing from me while I am on vacation but I will check in again when I am back. I will miss all of you and this site. Keep up the good work!

I think my socks were too thick for the marathon....That made my left shin hurt, my right hip ache and now for some reason the outer part of my right foot aches so much I can barely walk!  I'm falling apart and feel like QUASIMOTO!!! I have not exercised yet today because I slept in until 7 (unusual for me) and have been playing mom taxi so far today (2 boys to 2 different wrestling practices!) Now I see my house is a mess and the 3 kids left here and I are about to clean (but they don't know that yet :D ) I may run in awhile if my foot is better but for now I am chilling out and catching up on my e-mails (while they eat!!!) I'll check back in later! Sorry I sound so whiny.....I guess it's hard for me to accept my body not just returning right back to normal after the race! I feel kind of "intestinally congested" too....may need to do a 3 day apple cleanse.....anyone else interested? They always make me feel better....and what's this "saltwater flush" I keep hearing about? Have you guys tried that? I'm game for anything that doesn't involve fasting....I just can't do that and maintain an exercise regimen....I'm thinking of a 3 day apple cleanse with the salt water flush each a.m......so if anyone would like to join me let me know.....I'll start Monday since it's easier for me during the week when I'm busy!!! This week I have done "running on the 8's" tomorrow I'll probably do a LSD (long slow distance) run outside, rest or walk Sunday and then start "running on the 7's" next week....I'll let you know how it goes but just posting here makes me feel good about having a plan!!! My next marathon is Phoenix, AZ in January and I am determined to do a sub-4! I wish I had someone around here to run with. I think I would improve better if I did....too easy to slow down when you run alone!!! I do appreciate all the support from you guys though....my cyber raw food friends! So thank you for the support. I wish I could convince you ALL  to come and participate in my 10K race that I direct here the first Saturday in August! It would be so cool to get a bunch of raw foodist runners/walkers/cyclers/in-line skaters all in one place to meet for a great cause! I know many of you are scattered throughout the country or even the world....but northern new york is truly beautiful in the summertime and has many things to see and do!!! We are one half hour from Canada!!!!! Although our website needs SOME updating you can get more info. at www.pillarpointnfraces.com or e-mail me at nfmama@twcny.rr.com Either way, you can learn more! ((Racewalkers welcome too!!! ;) ))
Just wanted to check in one last time and say that I weighed early cause I will be gone next week and took my measurements cause Sunday will mark my 2 month anniversary of being raw. I am down another pound (total loss 23 pounds) and down another 6 inches (15 1/2 inches lost). Yeah! I will try to exercise on the trip if I can. Will miss you guys!

Thats a great accomplishment...yes ! I like the signature, a great verse to hold fast too !
Di..I agree " I wish I had someone around here to run with"....I will start promoting the 10K to my DH !
Today we did an hour hike along river...another beautiful day. Then did some biceps and triceps.
I have a headache from traveling yesterday..5 hours in the car. But that does not stop me, forge on !

Sorry for being remiss in posting daily. I've been getting in my exercise though some days are more of a scheduling challenge than anything.
This morning, I fell again (stepped in a hole I didn't see) and cut the walk short so I wouldn't hurt the knee again so I did floor exercises at home instead. Managed 3 sets of 25-to-30 sit-ups but only 10 "girl" pushups :( I'll be working on improving those numbers!

A slip is OK when you catch yourself! Welcome back!
I just realized I CAN'T take a nice "out in the country" LSD (long slow distance) run today!.....IT'S HUNTING SEASON! Although I am not a deer I sure do not want to be mistaken for one!!! Guess I'll stick with the safety of my treadmill!!!!! I hope I can FOCUS on a LSD while on it....I get BORED when it comes to that....Oh well, good morning everyone! If you're working out today have a good one!!!!! will post later!
Di
ps...it's "later" now...did 12.5 miles on the treadmill....didn't intend on running more than 10 but I was watching a movie! So, I'm not a couch potatoe I'm a treadmill taskmaster!!! I sure was sweaty!!!! Now, I feel good like I am past my "marathon recovery" stage! I hope I am losing a little weight for Wednesday weigh-in day too...I am hoping for 143 but don't want to get my hopes up OR lose too fast.....I used to weigh in daily so it's hard to not know for a week but I need to trust my body right? Hope you are all having a nice weekend! It's raining here!

Did you really get up and exercise, and watch a movie all before 4:55 this morning? That is the time your post was posted. I am impressed!
I exercised yesterday -- two times, 17 minutes each on the trampoline, while watching kid movies (Counting with Elmo & Potty Time -- everyone should be so lucky!)
I'm still working on remembering to exercise today, let's see what movie do the kids have on??? :p

I POSTED at 6:55 but didn't run until 8 a.m.....I went back and "edited" my post after my run rather than posting a 2nd time....Although for those of you who know me know that during the school week I AM up at 3, run from 4-6 a.m. and jet off to school at 7! Since the race I've been "sleeping in"until 5/6 but tomorrow it's back to the early rising!!!! (If I wait until Monday a.m. I'll never wake up!!!) I DO go to bed early though...+ with raw food I need less sleep...6 good hours is good enough for me!!! Your movie choices sound like fun too though! Elmo is awesome!!! How old are your kids? Wierd that I "slipped" yesterday because I have been 100% for so long????? Must be testing myself....well, I failed the test because my tummy is off and I "feel" heavy.....need to do apples and juices for a couple of days! And, I am back to my 3 a.m. wake up call so I can run at 4....This week I will "run on the 7's"....trying to rebuild my speed and stamina. My feet are all healed now ((I think)) from the marathon....Now, I just need to try to get my speed back again.....Don't mean to sound so pouty, just disappointed I guess.....I did post everything I ate on my fitday.com acct....wasn't pretty, but to think that was "good" compared to my previous "SAD".......I am glad I can confess here!!!

Ran 6 miles with my Dad at a pretty fast pace. My 78 year old dad still has it! :D He was trying to make sure he didn't get beat by his baby daughter!

Hey dogmd... That is great your Dad went running with you!
There's a book by a man that started running when he was 65.
At 104 he is still running and living an active life.

Monday morning -- I too must confess! Dang this is hard. I keep forgetting to exercise and my 100% raw is way off -- and the scales shows it (not happy with me). So this morning when I awoken, I decided, no nuts or seeds.
This weekend I decided to jump on the outdore trampoline -- in windy 40 degree weather. I managed to stay out there and really jump, and really get my heart pumping for a whole 11 minutes. It was not as nice outdoors as my husband tried to tell me.
I've already forgotten my morning 15 minutes of jumping, so this afternoon, I better find a good movie and quit stuffing the wood stove with wood, so I can jump without all that wonderful warmth.
Oh, Diantha, my kids are 4, 7, 8, 11 (those are the ones at home). And right now my Downs Blessing has a Signing Time video on -- but I am not ready to exercise yet, I'm having lunch -- a Green Smoothie. Oh, how about Running Raw?

RunningRaw? I kind of like that...I'll have to see if it's taken....Either that or nfmama (that's kind of my other avatar elsewhere for "neurofibromatosis" a.k.a. "nf" which is what my son Joshua has.......which is what got me running in the first place......I run for the "Marathon Team")
((off topic)).....Do you have a child with Down's Syndrome? How old? I am a special education teacher of 4-7 year old's (self contained class)....pretty needy class....Are you signing with him/her?
It seems to be that time of year that TEMPTATION is all around us! That is why we have this thread! We all need to just try to keep plugging away! It's o.k. to slip, even fall....But the most critical factor is whether we catch our balance and get back up! We can do it ladies (and gentlemen)!!! Take it one day, one meal at a time......"The old me" (and sometimes now I need reminders) would throw in the towel if say I ate something I shouldn't have say at breakfast......Now, I TRY to make it one MEAL at a time! It is key to remember that to maintain. 50%raw is better than a washout! When I am having my most difficult times I regroup with APPLES!!!!!! I learned a while back of their cleansing properties and have done up to a 3 day apple fast....I find if I just allow myself a day of only unlimited apples (yes, even 2o+) I can get back on track and CLEAN OUT!!!!! I usually do that every Monday and sometimes Tuesday too! It seems to refocus me! It also makes eating simple! It's nice to try all these fancy raw recipes but let's not forget the simplicity of raw either! I began my journey raw because I tired of reading labels and searching for EXPENSIVE gluten-free/casein free foods......An apple is an apple is an apple.....Voila, my love for raw was born!
Sometimes I forget the reason, feel a little "cheated" :( and then eat something I shouldn't....(sound familiar?) Of course then I feel yucky and regroup.....but these slipups only recommit my belief in raw because of how I feel when I stay 100%......
So, team....now that I've rambled on for 20 minutes! Let's get up, brush off, and be raw and happy! Exercise for at least 30 minutes.....Make it fun! Walk/hop/run around with your kids! Just do it!!!!
gotta run!!!!! I'll be changing my avatar name...but will keep the turtle picture (it's my running motto "slow and steady wins the race"! not a bad raw motto either! ;) )

Ok...I'm weighing in on this one really late...have been lurking around but not daring to committ ;)
I bought a pushbike a couple of months back and have been out riding a couple of mornings a week before the family wakes up. Love the difference it is making (I put a few kg's on once I stopped pushing 2 Little Ones all over the place in the double pram) I always thought daily exercise was "not doable" because of family/time/committment restraints but after reading this thread something dawned on me...I could get a treadmill and exercise at home (doh! this thought had never occurred to me!!) Not the same as getting out in the morning air on the bike, but a lot more achievable on a daily basis.
I do have a question for those that know about fitness...why is it harder to exercise if you breath in AND out through your mouth? Should be in through the nose & out through the mouth, right? (should always be this way, actually, shouldn't it?) I have a somewhat disfunctional nose (was operated on a couple of years ago and didn't really make much difference) It's too THIN! so when I breath in through my nose my nostrils collapse...one side doesn't work at all! So, I've found this hard when attempting exercise, but wonder if this is a physical manifestation of some mental resistance OR a valid disadvantage...
Sorry for the long rave! Any ideas?

First of all WELCOME!!! It's never too late to join in!!! To answer your question you should be breathing in and out through both nose and mouth simultaneously....If you don't feel you are getting enough air you can increase the volume by rolling the tip of your tongue up to the roof of your mouth. It is supposed to allow you to take in more oxygen....Hope that helps! Getting a treadmill for the home is a great idea. It's perfect for the whole family....good Christmas gift! You may find it's easier to get up and get on that than out the door in the cold darkness! (Much safer too!) You don't HAVE to get a fancy one. I have a Proform (something) from Sears that they just replaced a year ago brand new because it was cheaper than fixing it! I would advise getting the extended warranty as it will cover servicing and replacement parts....a great investment we made on our part...Then again I log A LOT of miles on it! If you're really lucky, you'll be able to find a spare room for it and convince DH to hang a TV up over it like mine did! I like to rent DVD's on the week end and watch them while I do my long runs....kind of a treat considering I don't usually sit still long enough to even watch movies! Well, good luck and I hope all this info. helps!

DI...you change the avatar at the USER section but the name I think you need to get in touch with the Administrator.
I have felt very out of it..is it the 14th ALREADY ? YIKES. I think the holidays will be slipping me by. I have been keeping apples and banana's with me so I tend to stay on track. I found if I go to the store hungry (usually..) then I buy the nuts, so now I eat an apple before going into the store. The other day I ate it as I walked across the parking lot. Sat I was a t a Womens Expo and there seemed to be bowls of Choc everywhere, so I had a Green Drink at my Booth, we were across from Young Living Oils and one of the girls here was RAW so that kept my diet honest !
As far as the Holidays, it seems the word is out I am RAW (my dh has told..) so my Boss asked about what to have at the Christmas Party for me. And in the Office he asks me when I am eating...is that RAW ?....accountability is great motivation.
As far as work outs....getting on in daily, not a mega amount like I prefer, but 30-60 min a day.

I would LOOOOVE one of those! The tv "suspended" above my head will have to do for now though  I'm sure they run a pretty hefty price tag!!!! Maybe my next one!
Caramba-Love your attitude! You are getting that treadmill a.s.a.p.! I love it! I rec. building your "time on your feet" as opposed to distance. That goes for anyone starting out. Aim for 30 minutes a day for a week adding 10 minutes each week until you build up to where you want to be.....walk, run, do both.....I've told the story before how I never intended to be a runner, just got BORED out of my skull training to WALK my first marathon. Nothing against walking at all-it's great exercise, but when I was training to walk a marathon and walked for HOURS AND HOURS on my Saturdays I just started jogging (1t 185-190 lbls at the time) to break up the monotony! I was hooked!
I have aspired to complete a triathlon too! I just fnd it hard to find the time to train for the bike and swim part esp. now that it's winter! I have a bike, and a YMCA membership....TIME is the factor. As a mother of 5 and full time teacher I cannot justify spending additional hours at the gym right now :( .....someday! Right now I get up so early so as not to take time away from la familia, and to GET IT OVER WITH!!!!
Frecs-Sometimes our body does its best work when we are resting. You must have needed the rest. Don't do too much too soon or you may burn out...Hope you are feeling better!
I wish all of you luck in your work outs this week! I am glad we weigh in on Wednesdays don't you. It's right smack dab in the middle of the week so it keeps me "in line!" I am happy to see my weight dropping slowly but surely too. I was worried this week too after my slip up over the weekend, but I have been working at it ever since so that must have helped. Only 9 pounds to go to my goal!!! I know I can get to 140, then those last 5 pounds will be tough. So glad to have my cyber support.....
Did you notice my name change???? Just thought it was time! I feel like a new woman!!!! :D

LOL! It's summer here...that's why I feel so inspired to get up early while la familia is still asleep (even the kids...late sleepers...bless 'em. take after their latino dad!)
Talk to me in winter and see how inspired I am then! ...but by then I'll be so in practice at home on my treadmill I may even dare to front up to a gym! ;)
BTW, weight is not my issue (though wouldn't mind losing a couple more kg's)..FITNESS is! I don't plan to get any older and have heaps of things I want to do that require my to be fit (the triatholon is only 1)

I'm thinking of getting a treadmill to use at night. I looked at treadmills awhile ago... some of the tracks seemed short. Does anyone have suggestions about a good model... that will have a long enough track, reasonable price, and easy to set up?

I would go right into a store where you can "try out" the treadmills....Mine is a "ProForm" from Sears...I'll ask my hubby about the length later and let you know....PM me if you'd like nfmama@twcny.rr.com If you're a busy mom like me the TM is the best investment ever....and your kids will see you and emulate after you (mine always want to use it!) What do you think of this?: One of my "someday" aspirations has been to write a children's book.....Since my kids are curious but overwhelmed by "raw" what do you think of a book written specifically to kids about raw food????? just a thought....Maybe if I can write one at the elementary level it may actually sink in with some adults!!!!! Children's book is a great idea. We need some literature to counter the "birthday party = chocolate cake & lollies" or "breakfast = cereal & toast, or worse, bacon & eggs!" images that kids books are made of.
How about a story of a Raw child mixing up lots of raw delights (and learning a whole lot of stuff on the way) - maybe meeting the Raw Faries that live at the bottom of the gardern ;)?

After recovering from some virus or other that kicked my butt last Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, I've gotten back into the exercise. I have to say I'm surprised its been as hard to do the 2 hours a day as it has been...figured it'd be a challenge but not this challenging!!! But, I'm not giving up!
This morning I walked 4 1/4 miles in 1hr5mins. Tonight, I plan to do Tai Chi and bodyweight exercises.

Today was a jog outside with winter running gear :D
My upper body is sore from doing more traditional weight training w/ heavier weights.
I started step cardio again after a "I got bored with it" period...and WOW in two weeks I am amazed the difference in my legs, they are harder ! :D :D :D

I only wish I could run outside again! It's hunting season and I live too rural to take my chances :D I'll stick to the safety of my treadmill! Yesterday I put in 16 miles on the treadmill! I forgot how long and boring that can be...I watched a movie but it was still LOOOOONG! Today is a "rest" day but I am going to walk since I ate too much last night......darned myself when I have wine! Hey it was organic  I'm only human!!!!! But I'll be good today I promise! Are we going to start a December challenge in a couple weeks too? Say "I" and I think I'll make it a new thread at that point to get new people to join in too! It'll be a tough month for all of us with the holidays, right? Well, I'm off to walk....

I see your weight dropping in the goals so you must be doing fine, even with a few "ate too much" days ;) . I am the opposite of you if I have a glass on wine I do not eat. So I am trying to follow a modified food plan now, lost a few pds :D , so I have a glass of wine in the evening instead of forging for food. Organic Wine, Bananas and Green Drink are good diet foods... ..for me !
I have watched so many movies in the Winter on the Tmill. My DH will say lets watch this..and I say..I saw it ..and he says WHEN ? and I say on the treadmill....I will have to try 16 miles...yawn..boring. I was at the new Lake home yesterday and noticed the Hunters out and around, so next year this time I will be like you. No outside hunting or someone will think I am a Deer.
Yes start the December, make it thru the Holidays thread ! I am there !
Off to run OUTSIDE he he ...sorry DI ;)
I am back from my vacation in Arizona. Didn't get a chance to do a lot of exercise except for doing some walking on trails, and up mountains, and we did go to the gym 1 day and I did a 1/2 hour on the eliptical machine and some abdominal work. I am afraid to weigh myself cause I did eat a lot at restaurants but tried to stay as raw as possible. The weather was great (in the 80's every day and sunny). :) Now I am back in Michigan and it is cold and grey. O well. I have to get unpacked and mentally back in the everyday grind for the coming up week. I am glad to be back with you all! I need to do some reading to catch up with everyone!

Welcome home! I have been a bit lax on my diet  ,so I am aiming for 100% raw this week regardless of the 8-1-1 part....think I get so obsessed with that I eat things I shouldn't to compensate  ....so I am modifying my goal to be 100% raw like I did when I started....I may eat more fats than I should but at least it will be 100% raw.....We will start a holiday thread soon for December!!!!
I walked for 2 hours on the treadmill today, watched a movie :) ....Have a good holiday week everyone!

I "did" 11.1 miles on the treadmill yesterday....started by walking....then slowly increased my speed to 6.7 (sub 9 mile) and held steady a bit before slowing down gradually.....it was a good run and my body adapted well to the gradual increase! Oftentimes my body does not want to cooperate at such an early hour!!!! Now I am up to attempt it again!!! I "feel" bloated/off this a.m. though...hopefully that will go away! usually does when I start sweating! Do you guys sweat a lot? I sure do! I know it's good for you but whew! I'm dripping when done! (have to wring out my ponytail!!!) The past few nights I have woken up drenched in sweat too? wonder what's up with that?
I drank only juices and green smoothies until dinner last night, then I think I ate too much! wish I could find a set way to eat and then stick to it....any ideas? I am busy during the school day anyway so juices/smoothie is good, but I was hungry for FOOD by the time I got home....waited too long? I don't know how anyone can fast??? maybe because I run so much but whew, can't do it!
.....just had my first ever glass of "rejuvalac" I have been making....interesting.....tummy is "warm"....
Happy trails all! Sorry I'm rambling, it's early! ;)

RawRunner...very motivating ! I like these exercise threads. I am still running outside for now but soon, treadmill and I will try the above method to do the 10 miles.
I think maybe your Metabolism is reved up from all the running you has increased you Metabolism. I get that way when I am doing double cardio sessions a few times a week.
You face the same issue I do DI. Eating light during the day, BUSY !! not near a kitchen, (brown bagging it) ....and then I get home at 9-11 PM and I am hungry ! So it is hard not to forage for FOOD and grab a non Raw easy item. I have been trying to keep flax crackers and rawnola around but little to time to make it regular !
Try doubling the green drinks, fruits during the day !!
I find if I try to eat the 8-1-1 style I get off track on my Raw diet. Its odd because I prefer that way to eat but if I eat just fruit and green drinks smoothies I find I am eating a piece of Ezekial Bread...a Kashi Bar or some Mary's Gone Crackers if I do not have a Raw Cracker available.
So I think I spend to much time thinking about the 8-1-1 so I am going to just eat Raw like I did the last year. I was more successful that way. I plan to choose the fruits over nuts (as I lost 3 pds since I reducued the Almonds which I tend to overeat !) but I find it difficult to say I will eat this way or that ! I am with you on this one !
Off to run..... :D :D :D

I agree and will modify my "goals" as well.....most days I am content with juices/smoothies/fruits so I should stick to that and not obsess over 8-1-1 ...That's not what this thread is for anyway, right? I think I'll naturally stay 8-1-1 so I am not going to worry either....I will weigh myself each day too....Here's a question. I weigh myself at 3 a.m. so it's like weighing my dinner too. I also sometimes weigh myself after running and it's always 3-4 pounds lighter even though I have had 1/2 gallon (no exaggeration there either  )....so to be obsessive, which weight do you think is accurate? My pre-run weight fluctuates from day to day but my post run weight is usually consistent????? and of course I am trying to lose some pounds right now....and my stomach feels rounded...not bloated per se...."rounded"????any thoughts?

thats a tough one....as the 3:00 weight is still reflextive of the what you ate and drank before bed..but then the after run weight is after a severe water depletion and refill....so both could be scewed. I would tend to go with the 3:00 am knowing that it could fluctuate because it may take more time to replace fluids after a mega run.
I weigh in at 6 am...even then I fluctuate 1-3 pds depending on sodium, food etc etc...
not sure I helped...
I am off to Thanksgiving at a Sister in NC..so bye all !! Back Monday ! Happy Raw Thanksgiving to All !

DI..your weight will flutucate quite a bit if you weigh in daily, due to the running schedule and hydration, or lack of hydration ! A few pd swing from day to day wouldbe NORMAL for you !!!
I am going to my sisters in Cary NC for Thanksgiving..so I will hit the Whole Food Market tonight. I made some Banana Flax Crackers to take and I think I will eat lots of fruit while I am there to stay away from the Holiday baked goods. My family is very supportive of my raw diet, :D .

I am so proud of myself staying raw today amongst all the temptation!!!! I made myself many little samplings of raw dishes (usually I eat simple things...no recipes for me!!!) But today I wanted to eat 100% no matter what-except for a little bit of cooked squash that my best friend's mom made especially for me without any additives....in a seperate dish and everything. I did eat that out of respect + it was good! But other than that I did well.....and that is saying a lot for how I've been slipping lately! Now, I have new found confidence in my raw lifestyle + I don't feel yucky like everyone else!!!!!!
I put in 11 1/2 miles on the treadmill this a.m. ;) !!!! worked up a great sweat!!!!! 7 weeks to the Phoenix, AZ marathon......

Was quite proud of myself because even though I was working last night and got to bed at 2am I still got up before all the family and went out for a bike ride for an hour. (thought about not doing it...but justice prevailed :) )
Sorry to say to you all I have failed this past week in my challenge. :( Between trying to catch up from vacation and working 12 hour days, and hosting the holiday, I am just exhausted. I did not do one bit of exercise and I am sure it will affect my weightloss next week. I am really afraid to weigh myself.
I did however stay raw over the holiday and for the first holiday being raw, this I feel is an accomplishment, since I am the only one in my house/familiy that is eating raw.
So owning up and confessing this makes me feel terrible but I figured it was better than hiding from you all.
Good job to all of you that made exercising a priority during this holiday week. Hats off to you! Hopefully I can start anew next week.

I am up for an apple cleanse after enjoying so many raw treats over the holiday...Do nuts make anyone else sluggish besides me??? I am going to try to apple cleanse/mono food right through to the first.....have a feeling I may have gone up a couple of pounds rather than down and my goal was to be 140 by the 1st....we'll see.........dare to dream right? My workout this a.m. was sluggish too! Hard to get up at 3 after a few days off even though I "practiced" yesterday!!!! I am going to start a new thread on the 1st called "Holiday Hustle"...I know there are other similar threads with ongoing challenges but I think there is something to be said for starting fresh each month (each day, each meal even!!!) so I'll start a new thread and let this one go...We can follow the same format and post our goals. By starting a new thread we can encourage others to join us too!!!! So, Friday is it o.k.???? and from the "coaching" perspective it's time to increase your stamina/endurance up from 30 minutes to at least 45 minutes ok??? I wish there were about 28 hours in a day so I didn't always feel like I need more TIME!!!! I told my family a while back I'd be able to "catch up" with things if only I didn't sleep at all for a week! Of course I couldn't function but it would help! I am just too much of a perfectionist I guess....but I'm working on that! It's just so hard to maintain EVERYTHING that sommetimes I feel AAAGGGHHH out of control! I think that's why I am so fanatic about running....It's simple.....the same repetitive motion over and over and over!!! The one point in my day when concentration is not that important! School has been a stressor lately, and raising teens, tweens, and "the little kids" is just as exhausing! Plus, dh is "back in school" part time so 2 evenings a week I'm solo....sorry I'm whining, :( it's my therapy! Let's not forget to add in the stress of holiday decorating, shopping, wrapping, oh my! As you all know (probably) my 10 year old has neurofibromatosis and has to have an MRI periodically....Well, that's this Friday so say a prayer and send happy thoughts! Also, he is determined to do it without anesthesia this time so pray for that too as he has difficulty sitting still, much less lying still!
I know this is an exercise thread so I'll discuss that now. I am running slower at this time of day than I would later....but I am ok with that I guess because I just cannot run at 6/7 when I'd like to! I have to leave for work at 7. I sometimes wish I could run at night but that would take away too much of my evening and family time.....any suggestions? cuz I just keep going back to the NO SLEEP theory! :) Thanks for listening to me ramble and complain.....time to skin brush and "suit up!" :D

If it is deemed Urgent/Not Important (a ringing phone is usually this, answering some email)....Not Urgent/Not Important. (for me this year it is Decorating for the Holidays..) put it last or have the kids :D do it.
Ok back to work out topic :p . My weight jumped today (travel and Thanksgiving) so back to the fruit / green drink diet...and increase my running and cardio time.
Off.......................
Just got home from work and working out. I went to the gym (luckily it is open 24 hours) on my way home from work. I have finally caught up from the backlog of me being on vacation - Yeah! So I did 30 minutes on the eliptical machine and 40 minutes on the stationary bike and 5 minutes of abs for a total of 75 minutes. Today I just bought some new exercise DVD's to inspire me if I get a chance to work out at home.
Di - I feel your pain - I know exactly how you feel. Sleep - thats overrated - who needs that! Ha Ha
If you figure out how to add more hours to the day - let me know your secret.
Now on a more serious note you could pray about it during your runs and ask for God to help you prioritize your day. As I am typing this I think I need to follow my own advice as I have been very scattered lately with more tasks and not enough time to do everything. Best wishes to you and your son. Prayers and Big HUGS!

Morn-
Odd, I'm getting up and you're calling it a day! I came home last night, got on pj's, made a cup of tea and went to BED! I am very run down mentally from my (NEEDY) students and just told my family I needed to re-program! and it did wonders. I feel much better and have a new outlook. But you are right, morn, I used to use my runs as my prayer and meditation time but I've gotten away from it. I think the fact that your post came through as soon as I logged on is a "sign" I should start that again, and I will. I am ashamed to say my spirituality has not really WEAKENED lately but I have neglected it. I will begin again today! Thank you Morn for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes for Joshua! ;)
I am not looking forward to "weighing in" today....I may wait until tomorrow. I get so "hung up" on numbers that it sabotages me if that makes sense.....and I still feel "heavy" from all the Thanksgiving heavy BUT RAW meals I ate.....
I will start the "Holiday Hooplah" Challenge as a new thread on Friday...OK all?

I ran yesterday, mid day when it got to 58 degrees her in NY :p , took a break from work to do it :D . That is a nice thing to do from time to time.
Morn thanks for that thought. I also neglected my prayer time recently. I got busy, stressed, we have also been out of fellowship ! SO my DH has been battling tinnitus for a month, that (health issues) has brought up back to our knees and now I am recommitted to pray daily read my Bible and when I get moved next month find a new church !
Hey DI ...I too am waiting till next week to weigh in. I weighed in the day after thanksgiving and I was back to 129....so I thought a week then re weigh ! My DH is now following my diet at about 80% level so that helps !
Yeah !
It is good to take a break and go to bed early ! I did last night too.
OK meeting...no work out to day !!!! Maybe run mid afternoon again...then work till 11 pm...

I am SHOCKED  that my weight is actually down because I was not even going to weigh in until the first....actually I was but I wasn't going to POST IT!!!!! My goal was to be 140 by the 1st....not sure if I'll make it but I'll try!!!! I have been doing apples for a couple of days so maybe that has "cleared out" all the heavy holdiay meals i ate (all raw but still different)...I do still feel "off" though.....distended belly....what would candida be like? I am going to try to stick to a few "food combining" rules I read about and see if that helps.....and mono meals.....apples for lunch (and breakfast!) I also had a Kombucha ("Synergy") drink....yummmmy.....almost tastes like a malt alcoholic beverage!!!! :D
I ran 10 miles this a.m......slowly....but I did it...I went to bed so early last night I am "refreshed" now! I'll post the new "Holiday Hooplah" challenge either later today or tomorrow.....then I guess we can close this one right? New month, new goals, new beginning!!! We can do this!!!! and maybe we can attract some new people too!
p.s. Morn, I thought of you when I prayed this a.m.!!!! Thanks.

Di and HealthyRawLife...great numbers on the weight loss :D :D :D
Yeah I am down 3 and by God's Grace I have made my goal for November. I say it is by God's grace because as you know I was a slacker on my exercise goals last week. I did however stay raw, which gives kudos to this way of eating. Now I am going to try one the the DVDs I bought yesterday. I will do a Yoga Booty Ballet tape. Hope its good.
FrawRUNNER and rawfigure thanks for your note and glad to hear you guys renew your commitment to prayer. I too have struggled lately cause I am missing my women's bible study (cause it is Tuesday early am. and as you can see I work early into the morning and then take my daughters to school and then I only have a few hours of what seems like broken up sleep). So needless to say the study is out of the question for me right now in this season of my life. Which is a bummer cause it always kept me in the word and focused. Sometimes it just isn't the same when you are doing things alone. But I need to to keep balanced. I am working on the physical and I too need more spiritual. I must admit though that if it wasn't for God I wouldn't be here cause I really feel God led me to this site and way of eating. By the way, isn't it cool to have family in Christ even on the internet? I am blessed!
Also congratulations to everyone here on this challenge. Even if the dial doesn't move on the scale, we are all doing great things for the health of our bodies, hearts, mental health etc.. Exercise also helps me with stress and feeling more relaxed too. So lets keep moving!!!!

You all are doing so well. I am SURE you are all joining us in Dec.
Morn, it is a blessing to be among believers ! Keep up the good work exercising.
DI (and others) ..I found a nice crunchy nut replacement. I take Alissa's Banana Flax Cracker Recipe, ground the Golden Flax soak, added an extra Banana above what recipe calls for, Juice of two oranges (instead of 1.5) and added some Date puree one time, Fig puree the other, and last time soaked gogi berries and raisins. The dehydrate to crispy......Yum Yum Yummmmmm...I find this satifies my Crunch needs. :p

OK everybody, I will start our NEW exercise thread for the month of December!!!!! Just like this month got to the user cp and edit your signature to post your goals......Let's "make new friends but keep the old....one is silver and the other gold!!!!" (Remember that from Girl Scouts anyone??? ;) ) I am hoping to weigh-in tomorrow at 140 to start the month...I should be able to since I've been doing a (mostly) apple detox this week and have missed "dinner time" 3 nights in a row due to evening committments....again tonight! and since I get up at 3 am I can't eat after 6/6:30 or I feel yucky in the a.m.......This a.m. I ran for 100 minutes on the treadmill (10.75 miles) and I know this is off topic but I need prayers and well wishes for tomorrow please as we take our son Joshua (the one with neurofibromatosis) to his annual neurology appointment + an MRI to check for brain tumors ;) I have faith all will be fine but warm thoughts are always beneficial! OK, I'll start the other thread now and we can just close this one out right????? See ya on the new Holiday Hooplah thread!!! :D :D :D
Worked today and then went to the gym. I did like the yoga booty ballet tape I did yesterday. But because I am so out of shape everything just seems so hard. It is also discouraging looking at their perfect bodies and knowing that even if I worked out everyday for the rest of my life I would never look like that. O well - its ok I just want to be the best me I can be and make my husband proud of me.
Todays exercise:
1/2 hour on the eliptical machine
5 minutes of ab work on the floor
5 minutes of outer thigh work on the floor
5 minutes of chest presses on weights machine
Di - I pray an extra measure of grace would abound to you and your son tomorrow. May HE be your stength and portion tomorrow as you need to be strong for your son. It must be so tough as a parent to watch your child go through all of this. I will be praying for you!

Morn...that is great you are doing the exercise. Do not be discouraged. A key is too accept ourselves at the point we are at (which I think you ARE doing) and iit is then that we can begin to change. :)
