I was shocked when I got them, because I always thought it was a sign of vitamin C defficiency. But everything I eat has it! I am raw for almost a year(with two lapses several weeks each).
It is there for a week now. Did you have any experience with that?

I've read in You Are What You Eat by Gillian mcKeith that may be a sign of vit. B2 deficiency. You can try a couple of cups of red clover/nettle tea daily, carrot juice, lots of dark green leafies, almonds, and parsley. Hope this helps!

A have never experienced cracked mouth edges before going raw. But even when raw, it happened only once to me. It was caused by not ripe pineapple. Curing that took about 4 days during which I didn't eat oranges, grapefruites and othes sour fruit. And of course pineapple. :-)

You're on the right track but wrong vitamin. It's a B deficiency. I find I have to supplement or I get that problem. I take a B and C complex. You might also consider adding nutritional yeast to your diet. It's not raw, but live.

Deficiency is not the first thing that should spring to our minds when a symptom arises. This is an artifact of the cooked world that should be discarded when a person embarks on healthful living. Healthful living produces health! It does not produce deficiencies. To think so is to go along with all the merchandising hype that we like to think we're not influenced by. We think we're being "safe" when we consider the idea that we might be deficient, but actually the opposite is true. It's listening to the nonsense about certain symptoms being indicative of this or that deficiency that is risky because it leads us to not only ignore the real cause of the problem, but to compound it by disregarding our senses, eating inappropriate foods and/or taking supplements.
Advid is on the right track, but cracks in the mouth can happen even when a person's not eating any acidic fruits at all. Many times when these little symptoms come up, it's just the body making an adjustment. If it's very bothersome (more so that doing without the foods you'll have to give up to resolve it), the first thing to do is change anything in the diet that might be giving your body problems, including eating too much acidic fruit, if you are. Obviously there are lots of other potential causes too. I wouldn't even hazard giving examples because it could be hundreds of different things. A qualified coach can be helpful in identifying mistakes, if that's what a person wants to do.
Best wishes,

Someone told me it was a B-12 deficiency.....and I notice that if I forget to take my B-12 for awhile....I get that...and it doesn't go away till I take my B Complex. (It has B-12 in it.)

Thank you so much! I think I will play it safe and take B12 supplement or nutritional yeast, because we started trying for the second baby and at any time I could be pregnant. Maybe even folic acid, just in case. Even though i really hate supplements.
