I was just wondering, does anyone else experience loose BMs when they eat a lot of fruit? Is this normal?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated

TIA

sometimes - I haven't done a careful monitoring of my eating so I am not sure what other factors come into play. Had some delicious flax crackers a couple of weeks ago and they loosen things up also. I would like to be like the animals and have clean excretion that does not require cleanup!

No, actually, I eat mostly fruits and I have no issues. However, I read one of RawNora's posts early today that said if you have this problem, it is your digestive system trying to rid your body of something. I will try and find that post and copy it to this one for you. ;)

There is no such thing as a cleansing food. Fruits have this reputation because they are pre-digested, so they allow the body to direct the energy it 'normally' has to expend on digestion to cleansing old wastes. When we say "pre-digested", we mean that the amino acids are free, they are not bound together as protein (we don't even need protein, we need amino acids), their fats are unbound as fatty acids and their sugars are simple and not in long chains that our bodies have trouble getting apart (as in the case of starch, which is a long chain sugar).

The key to cleansing is eating foods that don't create waste. Fruit is at the top of that list, followed by lettuce and celery. Nuts and seeds create waste, but at least they are partially recognizable and usable by the body, if they are not cooked.

Food is supposed to be digested quickly, but if you have loose stools or diarrhea it means there's something in the digestive tract that the body wants to get rid of quickly. This can sometimes be the consequence of miscombining, because fruit that is eaten with other foods or on top of other foods can ferment and this process creates toxic by-products that the body seeks to hastily discard.

Happy cleansing,
Nora

When I first went 100% raw, and when I have deviated from this for a bit and then gone back, I've had very loose BMs for a day or two, and often several a day.

Then after that it settles back into very clean BMs like Luckitri says, that require 'hardly any clean-up'. After I've been 100% raw for a week I find that they start to happen absolutely first thing in the morning, just after I've woken up -- they get me out of bed!

It all feels very clean and I can't say this to many people but this, for me, is one of the things I like the most about being fully raw.
