please share any recipes/ideas for sprouted lentils. Especially anything hearty/satisfying.

I am having a hard time staying raw right now and just got a bunch of nice French lentils and green lentils to sprout. :)

Only they've been sitting there... :o

I make a salad with olive oil, garlic, lots of lemon juice, some sea salt and black pepper, then grated carrots and chopped yellow or red bell pepper. and anything else that happens to sound good at the time: parsley, red onion, scallions, maybe some chopped dulse....whatever. I just let them sprout to short tails, long tails they start to taste too "green" to me.... Even my roommates, one of whom is a self-professed carnivore, started soaking lentils and making this type of salad on a regular basis because they liked the difference of the sprouted vs. cooked lentils. yippee!

Can be made with either sprouted peas or lentils. I eat it often:

1 cup of sprouted lentils or peas or both ( I usually double the amount here)
1T olive oil
1 medium onion (sweet is nicest)
1 cup walnuts
2 T lemon juice
1 pinch cayenne
1 pinch nutmeg
1 tsp salt
I also add either 3 dropsstevia - or 1/2 T honey or a date and sometimes a little shoyu if I feel like it.

Blend very well and eat. It really is reminiscent of chopped liver pate. I also tried dehydrating it last week. It was scrumptydumpty.

Enjoy!

Oooh, thanks kaybee and Biscuit Grinch for the recipes, they sound fantastic. Also thanks kaybee for the tips as to stage of sprouting. Can you tell me about how long it takes in days?

mmm i love lentils. I eat this almost everyday:

-Hearty lentil salad-

Soaked and sprouted red and green lentils
Green onion, sliced
carrot diced,
a pinch of fresh garlic, crushed
a hint of sea salt
peas
diced cucumber
diced avocado
the juice of a fresh lemon

optional:A teeny taste of raw olive oil, a little dash of black pepper.

The red lentils are a little softer and the green are a little more crunchy, and both are delicious together.

Just toss all ingredients up together in whatever amount you wish and enjoy. mmm.

-Oriental lentil salad-

Soaked and sprouted green and red lentils
Raw peanuts
Raw ginger, crushed/chopped up
Orange slices, cut up
A little squeeze of fresh orange juice
Cabbage (very thinly sliced to resemble noodles)
Carrots
Pinch of salt
A little bit of water.

Combine all ingredients in a jar or container and let sit for a couple hours. the water will carry the falovrs of the ginger, orange and peanuts to the cabbage and carrots and sort of marinate it. Eat in a few hours once it has the right flavor.

Bean Dip

2C sprouted lentils
2T raw tahini
2T lemon juice
1t sea salt
1t chili powder
1t cumin

fresh garlic (optional)

Process lentils through a Champion Juicer using the solid plate or a food processor using the 's' blade. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

I like to dip carrots sticks and cucumber slices...yummy! This was taken from "Living in the Raw" by Rose Lee Calabro.

exurb--

usually i soak them overnight then drain, rinse, and leave them in a bowl for a day or so. (rinsing once or twice a day, though they dont seem to be as "picky" about being rinsed often as other sprouts)...as soon as you see the little tails, their sprouted; they sprout really quick and are THE EASIEST thing Ive found to sprout and grow. I dont even bother with a sprouting jar, just a bowl because they sprout so quick. My housemates I think just soak them and then use them because its obvious when they taste crunchy and "green" instead of breaking your teeth like rocks that they have undergone whatever chemical changes inside, and they havent noticed any ill effects just soaking and using them without letting them get tails.

I know this is old, but I wanted to bump it as I was wondering if anyone else has any more sprouted lentil recipes? What about some really simple ones? thanks :)

In Alissa's book Living on Live Food there is a recipe for Chick-un Patties. I am sprouting lentils right now to make them. I haven't made them before but I have seen threads on this recipe in the past and others were saying they were very good so I thought I would try them.

I've been trying to get hold of lentils so I can make the bbq chicken.

There are some sprouted lentil recipes in the book Eat Smart Eat Raw by Kate Wood but I've lost my books. I think one recipe is a sweet and sour.

1 cup sprouted lentils
1 cup diced tomatoes
1/3 cup diced onions
1/3 cup red or yellow bell pepper
3 TBSP olive oil
1 1/2 TBSP lemon juice
1 small garlic clove pressed
1/2 to 1 tsp agave or honey or skip
Any spices of choice..basil if you're feeling Italian, cilantro for Mexican, etc. I don't usually put spices in.

Mix all together and let marinate for a few hours.

This is kinda like the cooked bean salad that you get at salad bars.
