* Alex, I have heard that the conversion from EFA's to DHA en DPA goes much better when adding coconutoil. Did you ever read about this?

No, can't say I have.

Where did you hear it?

I don't really worry about any of that - as long as I supply the two essential fatty acids - linoleic and alpha-linolenic and throw in some coconut oil which supplies some saturated fats as well.

One of the reasons I do this is that many toxins (environmental etc) are fat soluble and damage cell membranes and other areas of fat in our bodies. The area in our body with the highest concentration of fat is the brain. The brain is one area that I do not want damaged. Also there are many studies that correlate adequate fat intake, particularly omega3 with developmental problems of the brain. Even adding some omega3 into the diet of children results in an increase in I.Q.

Loren Cordain, in his book: The Paleo Diet, suggests that the cause of increased brain size and accompanying intelligence was initiated by the consumption of fats, particularly omega3s in our prehistoric ancestors.

The brain absolutely needs fat.

* Do I understand correctly that you don't worry about the "speeding-up"
effects of coconutoil (in combination with ala and/or gla, and in order to convert efficient to DPA and DHA), but that you do take this combination of all these oils simultanously?

* It can be something with languageproblems, but it is not clear to me:
do you think adding coconutoil to your essentail fats is protecting you from
toxins, like you describe? Can you describe how? What is the coconutoil doing extra?

* I heard the point I made at the lecture of G. Cousins and Brian Clement.
The latter said this. I checked it with a woman with many rawfood experience in amsterdam, and se said it is correct..
Seems crucial info, for people not eating fish.
