Hey,

I just wanted to let y'all know how great the Total Gym is for strength training, and cardio too. I got mine at the end of august and my upper body strength has totally increased and my abs and everything else too for that matter. I find it really is fun and can be super quick. My bf recommended it too, after I had mentioned to him I was interested in getting one, and he's extremely strong and works out 6 days a week.
I like that I can adjust the levels on it to customize my workouts because I'm not strong enough yet to just hop on a bar and do 30 pull ups. I also really like how it works every muscle group - I sound like an ad :o
Anyway if you get a chance to try or buy one, they're great.

Yeah, you do :p

I was never much for the machines, I find them boring. In a few months I plan to make a video of my bodyweight conditioning.

You really would be surprised how mcuh training you can get at a school playground.

We own a gym/personal training studio. While most of what we encourage is the back to basics stuff the machine that gets the most use is the Total Gym. It's the commercial one, but not all that different from the residential model. IT is a great workout-much like a pilates reformer.

We do alot of our workouts outdoors. We use the playground quite a bit. With the way I have sen most of you all work out I'm suprised noone is into the crossfit stuff! It's so similar to what I'm seeing on this board! Check it out if you haven't already www.crossfit.com

Thanks for the link. I've never heard of crossfit (which is funny because my bf is a tact officier and martial arts teacher) but I think I've been doing a combo of the excercises in training. That's actually why I got the total gym, after we do a suicide set of the excercises we do pull-ups, but I can't yet by myself - getting better though.

That's great! Dh is also a martial arts instructor-that's kind of how he found CrossFit. I am an ex-acrobat and circus performer, so the model works well over here. I'm working to get certified by CrossFit in January.
