Mr. Snufflelufigus has a 1st name... what the fruit.
That is just one of nearly one hundred things I've learned and/ord experience in my new roll as a SAHM, during the past 20 days, since my LIBERATION from the J.O.B.
If I heard correctly someone called him Aloeicious(sp), again WTF. I started watching SS like 34 years ago never knew he had a name and actually didn't recall knowing the gender of Big Bird either.
Anyway here is a partial listing of the other stuff I'm experiencing, learning or amazed by...
Martha Stewart wears a size 9 shoe
Rachal Ray is a hyped as a manic squirrel and there are actually anti Rachael Ray sites and blogs in her honor
Cookie Monster eats healthy fruit and veggies now, YIPPEE, with the same fevor and sound effects that "he" eats cookies with, yeh another formerly gender neutral charecter ;) COMES OUT
The local news is the same all fricking day long unless a kid totes a gun to school and gets busted before the 5 pm news
Steam cleaning a carpet with a home cleaner plus ammonia and water produces MUD, both in the reclaim container and the pad of the carpet. One more reason to install tile or hardwood in our den this spring
Avoiding 3.5-5 hrs of driving each buisness day has yielded me a cummulative total of 38-54 more days of quality living time, half of which I've already started investing in net surfing and lurking  bad mommy, this will stop SOON!!!
The "do not call" list is a crock and a sure fire way to increase your telemarketer calls is to change your frickin phone number
If ever I think I miss the adult interaction of my former work place I can watch Jerry Springer or take a toy from my 3 year old who will invariably whine like the grown women I use to supervise. :D
Hearing I love you mommy all day long never gets old
I now know what's been happening to all my plastic storage containers
I'm out of messy house excuses, since gee I'm home all day...WTF
Renewing my immigrant husbands drivers license on line was a piece of cake and they even gave me an address change option and an opportunity to register him to vote... WTF  Surely it would have kicked out the voting option had I tried, please say it would have?!?!?!
Early voting in a local election is like knowing the popular girl in highschool, who has a gift she shares in the back of the school bus, is going to WIN Homecomeing Queen :D
Stepping on legos at 6am in the morning could be considered cruel and unusual punishment by Geneva Convention's Rules of War
IT AIN'T KOW EASIER BEING RAW WHEN YOUR HOME FULL TIME ESPECIALLY IF YOU KEEP BUYING THE SAD CRAP
Having a hubby who's willing to work "TREE JOBS MAAAAN" just so you can stay home and hang on RFT, I mean raise the children ;) , is a PRICELE$$ gift!!!
Seinfeld reruns aren't really funny, especially if you never watched the first runs.
Why don't more of us have the option of having our steering wheel on the rightside of the car like the postperson does?
I LOVE trouser socks with designs and color. LIBERATION is good! No more flesh tone knee highs YIPPEEEEEEEEEE
Oprah's gained weight again, oh no that was a taped show, her magazine looks as if she's already lost it :)
My 18 year old might really become a best friend, we have such quality conversations while she is away at college
The Verisign Logo and the "security lock" on the screen is not the devil, I really don't have to buy everything I see on every website
A "Google" is what you become when you surf the net three hours straight, get hemmrhoids and mindlessly ignore your kiddos writing on a freshly painted bedroom wall...again WTF is wrong me!!!
Homeschooling is an undertaking that should not be taken lightly even if your state only requires 4 hours a day of academics, a 2 page application and $80 for filing late. WHAT DO THEY DO WITH THE $80 IF I'M SCHOOLING AT HOME?
When potty training a two year old one must "STAY THE COURSE" as our illustrious MR. PREZ would say
WHY DOES CRAB GRASS THRIVE WHERE REGULAR SEED WON'T?
If I had known we'd be cosleeping all these years, every single day I wouldn't have had my tubes tied as a form contraception
ABUNDANCE IS RELATIVE, WORK IS RELATIVE, LIFE REALLY IS SHORT
Crashing after drinking Coke is worse when your at home, especially if it's your toddlers turn on the 'puter and your jonesing for some RFT time

That cracks me up... if you like writing, you might consider making an article of it :)
And when I was a kid (SS started when I was 4...eek) Snuffy did not have a first name. Was it so bad not having a first name that they had to make him one? Or did he have one all along, but it just wasn't public knowledge? Hmm.
I DO remember hearing many years later that too many kids were feeling like adults wouldn't believe them because nobody believed Snuffy was real. So supposedly that's why SS made him seen by others than big bird.
Happy homemaking!

That was so funny.....I laughed and cried all at the same time!!!! My youngest started half day kindergarten this year- I actually go to the restroom by myself now and if the house gets quiet -I don't have to worry what he is up to ;) I am working part-time and love the adult interaction- But, I also miss the rainy day cuddles with a book-awwwwww!
Do you mind if I share this with a few of my friends by email? They would laugh and maybe see the humor in their days- as well :p

I just knew there was a reason I worked...I have so much respect for SAHM's but, as much as I love my child, I know I've done the best for him by letting others educate him.
I'm very proud of you though....KUDOS TO YOU GIRL!!!!

Whoa its been over 30 days.
I've officially confirmed that the TV is definately a time waster.
PBS is about all I watch, which is cool cause I love Globe trekker and Are You Being Served. The other shows for the toddlers I have to be selective about. 1 Hour of Sesame Street is usually enough for the day.
LET ME SCREAM THIS:
WTF* WAS THE IDIOT THINKING WHEN HE/ SHE CREATED TELLA TUBBIES?!?!?!?!?
DUMB!!!!
* WTF= what the fruit, no explicative here :D

I know that telly tubbies is stupid and not very informative but I think that it has such a feelgood factor. It actuall makes me feel good. It is a bit like Christmas.

My son hates them.. In fact if he sees them on tv he starts to freak out and starts screaming.. Then runs up and shuts the tv off. I have no idea what upsets him so bad. My son loves the wonder pets. I think it is a cute show.. At least it is about helping others. He is always walking around saying "Thank you wonder pets".. I think he is so funny..

So we've limited TV watching to Sesame Street and Reading Rainbow.
Found a once a week play group and mapped out a months worth a free stuff to do, including the museum, kiddie time at Wild Oats and some other cool cultural stuff.
Anyway it's been over 2 months and I've yet to catch a full hour of Oprah or even a cummulative total o an hour. Nor have I had a bath. I've also missed Pilates and Yoga for the past 3 weeks.
YES THIS IS THE BAR BY WHICH I MEASURE ME TIME... OPRAH, BATHING AND PILATES
I did get my kitchen painted and threw away a bag full of dated cosmetics/toiletries and old undies. All biills are getting paid on time and the house is relatively clean.
Some accomplishment but still a long ways to go.
I'VE DEFINATELY REALIZED IT'S HARDER FOR ME TO BE A SAHM than a worker bee plus mom. I'VE ALSO REALIZED, IT"S MORE REWARDING :D

Haven't had a bath in over 2 months eh? I thought I smelled something over here in my state. ;)

LOL
No you are not smelling me I shower with Dr. B's.
It must be one of those "seedlings" you smell. Yah know the new folks, they are always complaining of gas...
as if it's NOT ORGANIC :D
I have a 26 month old daughter and last week we heard her laughing so loud from the other room that we had to see what she was laughing at. She was *belly-laughing* - I have never seen her laugh like this. PBS was the channel and the teletubbies were on. She thought it was soooo funny! Well, if she likes it, then the person who created the show obviously knew something about children because it appeals to her. :)

So I've made a decision
The idiot box will be reserved for Sesame Street only. The kiddos can sit in the den while I am in the kitchen cleaning breakfast dishes and prepping lunch ingredients.
We are definately renewing our childrens science museum membership and plan to go at least one day a week unless another community excursion prevails.
I've used theses first nearly 90 days of liberation, to catch up on personal biz, figure out my all day fulltime parenting style and organize/ repair the home.
JAN 2 we will be full fledge hoemschoolers, following a monthly callendar of support activities, errands and appointments and weekly learning objectives. My little ones are nearly 3 and 4 and our days are still to unpredictable to plan :p
Their high raw diet has them often energized enough to make it through the day without a nap until 4 or 5 pm and then it's just for 45min, unless they are really exhausted.... this works great for dinner prep time but not so great when they sleep 2 hours so late in the evening then try to stay up to midnight.
I'm going try and get an earlier start on their day, so we can all enjoy an earlier afternoon nap!!!

Doing this by the seat of my pants so long that I've decided to just wear skirts. :D
More than a hundred days now.
Still trying to manifest some extra income :o
Hubbies looking for a back up 3rd job to supplement things until we adapt to our new budget. Actually we've adapted just some of the folks we owe money to haven't.
We don't catch sesame street to much any more. Either because we wake up late and we are doing devotional stuff and just cuddling, or the little ones are just busy with playing. Which I think is better than any TV show on earth.
The only thing keeping me from selling the idiot box, is that I do like to rent movies on ocassion plus check out religious, travel and culture DVD's from the library.
Next week I'm tackling the task of painting my hallway and I've been doing a creative story and color board for the theme which I think it will be a moroccan bohemian chic influenced kind of room. Think Bombay Company Stylings + Pier One Colors with Target Pricing :D

So the to do list I posted last never happened. fun and regular interactions of life got in the way. Paint cans ready, taped the trim only to have toddlers take it down. Will paint really soon.
I've got a personal dead line on some things in the house becouse I'm having a party for me at the end of MArch.
;) FINALLY CAUGHT A WHOLE EPISODE OF OPRAH... it was when The Secret was being discussed. :D

Yes! I remember when I learned that, too. Except, it's Aloysious. At least, that's the way my great grandfather spelled it. When I was little I liked to pretend that his middle name was Ferdinand so he would be just like my great grandpa.

So as part of our homeschool antics my little people watch VHS records and DVD's once enjoyed byt their much older siblings.
One recording has a singalogn aboutall the planets which is great my kiddos have it memeorized. However, one day DD18 tells me I'm gonna screw the littles up! I'm like what? She goes on to say PLUTO is not a planet.
Ummmm where was I during this News Flash???
I seems that our school house rock videos, remakes from my childhood, also have an error in the way they explain the making of a bill or some other long forgotten legislative process. Need to research this one.
In a later discussion at the dentist a mom/ 3rd grade teacher goes on to inform me that the pluto bit is old news by a few years. Looking at me all bewildered like 'cause I had already mentioned I had five kiddos. So I back tracked and I guess this pluto news occurred after my older kiddos were already approaching middle school and had mastered the planetary info and while the little were babes.
Mamas got homework to do:eek:

Yep, the Pluto thing happened around 2 years ago, where have you been living, under a rock? haha!
It was all over the print, tv and online news, there was much controversy.
You can always ask me about the latest cosmological updates, my son and I are obsessed with space, the universe, and also anything on the atomic level. :)

Wow so here we are! Amidst the flurry of neighbors and friends returning to school, scurrying thru isles during tax free weekends and waving farewell to summer. It seems school starts earlier and earlier each year and this particular year is marked by or 2nd eldest departure to college.
Emotions all around as I try to reconcile my angst regarding her departure with the true joy and pride that I have in her choice of college and academic pursuits. Getting children off to college seems to be the new gold standard by which we measure our success in parenting and if this is the case then give me a PALTINUM Oscar because this is the 2nd of my progeny to go and she has secured 100% of the funding on her own. Granted she is having to borrow about 10% of the cost of attendance but hey it's her experience her investment in self and HER LIFE!

So this bring me to the US that is left at home. My days will be full, lovin' on and learning with my 6 and 7 year old. No more carpooling with the older kiddos to school, no more work distraction just the 3 of us with daddy popping in at noon on ocassion for lunch. This is also a very pivitol year for us too because I have to lay a much firmer foundation for them as autodidacts/ freethinkers/ unschoolers if we are to continue on this path. Hubby and I are redirecting our energies, retooling our vocational lives and are not sure if we can address our personal developement needs, family economic needs while simulatnaeously educating at home fulltime. WE HAVE FAITH THAT WE CAN ...just not the confidence that says we will, YET!
Tonight brings about a new moon in Leo, perfect timing for some introspection a reflecting on who I was meant to be and what I should be doing in this season of my life. So I'll meditate, pray, plan and even fast... to get me to a place of RE- membering the purpose for my BE-ing and how I can best facillitate my children's journey while simultaneously continuing my own!
NAMASTE
