I just inherited a dehydrator from Luckitri (thanks!!!) and it doesnt have a temperature setting on it. Should I only dehydrate on the top several shelves??? What do you all suggest?
Also, I went looking for apricots today at the farmer's market and couldnt find any, but when I do HOW DO I GO ABOUT EATING THE PIT???? I really want to start doing this, please - if anyone can tell me how to avoid buying the pits themselves and just eating them from the fruit itself I would be very, very grateful.
Thanks in advance everyone.

That would depend on the type of dehydrator it is. IF it's an Excalibur, then no. If the heat/fan are at the bottom, then, guess someone who has one can answer that.
Second ~ why on earth do you want to eat apricot pits? They contain cyanide which is poisonous. Here's more: http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/apr2002/1018570507.Bt.r.html

there is a recent posting by rowanc with a very interesting film about apricot pits. I cant really do it justice by explaining it on my own. I will try to find the link and post it for you to look at.

I'm thinking that's about laetrile (not going to watch the whole thing) yet, apricot pits still contain cyanide. You want to take that chance?

from what they explained the body has a way of unlocking the laytril to benefit the body and not utilizing the cyanide. They say that the cyanide only attaches itself to any cancerous cells or precancerous cells...that is just my simplified version.

I believe if you search under "apricot kernels" you will find the details of the thread as well as the people who have heard of this and currently regularly take them in their diets. I am going off of the information and some of the opinions of the people on the forum who have been raw for quite a while. At this point I trust their experience and opinions enough to try it. I am looking forward to seeing the positive results, although those results will be very long-term.
