Dear Raw folks,
this is kinda gross but... I have developed and odor. I have noticed it for a few months (I have been raw for 6-7 months), my husband has thought I was crazy but now he smells it too and so he is sleeping with one of our kids and I am sleeping in said kid's bed. I have started a fast so it has gotten a little worse. I figure it is the muck in my intestines coming out through my skin but this is where it gets scary... my childhood meals were prepared by a single mom who could not cook thus I ate primarily McDonald's, pizza and frozen dinners with an occasional foray to my grandparent's house for a home-cooked (SAD) meal. So, is what is coming out of me going to be the death of me??? I am a little nervous about others smelling my skin stink. When will it end? I have started my fast as a week of fruits and veggies only, then I will do a week of the master cleanse, then a week of water (then it will be Thanksgiving, yahoo :( ). I will be making some nice salads for the family meal. Anyway, I don't know if anyone out there knows anything that can help me in here but I have appreciated and learned from your knowledge before. Thank you in advance.

Hadn't gotten that far in my journey yet!!!
As a matter of hygiene though I would reccomend bathing in Dr. Bonners soaps. Continuing with plenty of water and considering some sort of aromatherapy candle for the bedroom and using sachets in you clothes drawers. These are mask I know, but your time with hubby is important and you can't sleep seperate forever can you????

This will pass :) Meanwhile, when you take a bath, scratch it all off. I used to take showers putting a few drops of essential oil on a sponge; you may want to try that.

I recall reading on a raw journal a girl (Janie from Hawaii who was doing Dr. Graham's plan) who kept smelling french fries every time she got in the shower for weeks. She said she was a avid Mc Donald's french fry eater, and she could tell from the smell that it was specifically the Mc Donald's smell as it had a particular odor.
Just the fact that the smell is worse while fasting makes me think that you are detoxing it big time.
You may want to try eating or juicing parsley or eating a lot of greens to help neutrilize the scent.

I think this is a good sign for you; just tough it out :)
I agree with LifesaGift's recommendation for Dr. Bronner's soap.

Are you having regular bowel movements? It's important while detoxing to keep the bowel moving, this will help with the odor. Also, eat a lot of green foods, since they are high in chlorophyll. This will help as well. You can buy chlorophyll tablets and there is also a liquid form.

Thanks for the replies. I do bathe and use my hemp washcloth with Dr. Bronner's soaps!!! I have also been having a parsley/green apple smoothie every day. The french fry thing sounds interesting. I put away a lot of Big MAc's as a kid. Funny, the parsley tastes delicious but after 10 mins. or so it tastes like onion. I figure I won't have to sleep away from my husband forever. We're a bit used to it as we've bed hopped with our kids for years!!! (or just fallen asleep putting them down to bed).

I second the liquid chlorophyll as a natural deoderizer.

You might try skin brushing and do something that makes you sweat. Bikram yoga will definately make you sweat. You can try a steam room also.

lots of green juice would probably help
also body odor can be a sign of ZINC deficiency - angstrom zinc is the best kind to use
drinking lots of water
doing a colonic while fasting would probably help a lot

:) When you take a bath or a shower pour apple cider vinegar in the water or with a shower rinse in a dulited amount of apple vinegar, it will cut the odor and make living with yourself easier and with others in the household. :)
It has something to do with the ph balance in the body.

others have already shared what I was going to share, but I'll say it again too, just for the effect.
Sauna, so you can sweat it out, then skin scraping and brushing, use apple cider vinegar on your entire body rub it on, it will help with the odor, also, take zinc, it helps internally with odor, parsley is also good, so is charcoal, that is good, willow charcoal is the best, you can buy it at artist's stores we use it to draw with, but eating it is great too,
Also, 100% raw is the only way, you may wish to up your onions and garlic, and ginger to help cleanse the system, and although I don't do this, others do, yoiu may wish to consider colonics as a solution, you do a series of them, and that might help.
