Have any of you had a hard time doing 100% because you have a few "exceptions"? Lately my exceptions are Organic Blue Corn and Sesame chips, rice, and vegan soups.
I can't seem to talk myself out of these items... should I?

I had some home-made veggie soup last night. I had been to a football game and was freezing when I got home. So, I broke down and had some soup. My other little thing is spicy brown mustard. I like it on my raw veggie burgers. I haven't had crackers yet, but I'm missing them. I need a dehydrator BAD!! Yes, I'm in the same boat with ya on this one. Just seems to be the little things...

For a couple weeks, I was stuck on jar salsa - it made a great tasting fat free salad dressing. I couldn't eat salads without it.
I can't seem to talk myself out of these items... should I?
It depends. I had to talk myself out of my salsa because I wasn't experiencing the health and energy I want with a raw diet (and it was leading to other things . . . ) If you're doing fine and are satisfied with where you're at, then there's no reason to change. But if you feel that it's holding you back physically, emotionally or psychologically, then you should talk yourself out of it.

I was eating rice, cooked/steamed veggies, corn products, etc. and figured it was all right for me. Then I started eating all kinds of junk including wheat. It sort of slowly got away from me.
So if it were me, I'd drop those items from my diet.
My exceptions are green tea, black olives -- and a cup of coffee sometimes -- black, of course, no milk --

The one thing I allow that is non-raw is a blended coffee/stevia/powdered milk frappuccino I make.
I've not found one RAW knock-off:-\
I've had no cravings at all for cooked foods, I just like my iced coffee every now and then :) I actually reeeeally enjoy raw so much more than anything else I've ever eaten, so I don't really struggle with it, or even think of it as a diet or big change of any kind :) I only have to deal with family/family gathering type issues -_-

While I was backsliding, I was eating mostly raw except for some peanut butter and bottled salad dressing. I said goodbye to them today! Today was my last day of peanut butter for a while. I am not saying "never" but I am saying goodbye for now because they are not helping me reach my goals.

Hey bananas..don't know if you have a Wild Oats near you or not but I got the most wonderful peanut butter there today. They actually have a self-serve machine that grinds raw, organic peanuts into peanut butter. It was only like 4.99/lb. I ran home and had some on celery...DELICIOUS!!! By the way, welcome to the forum!!!

Hey Laurie, That sounds yummy! I do not have a Wild Oats near me though. I'm up in Canada. Thanks for the welcome :)

For me it is raisins or other sundried fruit - not really raw, but better than totally cooked. I don't eat it everyday though because it gives me indigestion. So why do I eat it? Taste.

Just make sure they're raw! At my HFS I thought they were raw (it didn't say) so I asked and they are roasted!

I just can't give up my weekly (cooked) Thai food meal with my hubby. It's so bad of me, but I get veggies in a curry so no meat or anything, but I still feel guilty :( I sometimes get the apple salad minus the meat and that's 80 percent raw LOL...
I also have warmed tea in the winter (I live in Michigan)...And, I don't check the temperature...LOL.

My experience has been that unless I go 100%, I can't do it at all. Then again, I tend to be an extremist in every situation. It's just that one taste of cooked food leads to another. And going a while without cooked food, I don't even crave it anymore. Getting over the initial 100% week was hardest for me. Good luck. Hope this helps. It's ultimately your decision though.

I have tried eating 100% raw, not even table salt and It worked for me,
I've tried eating bottled salad dressing and canned olives on my salads and it didn't work for me,
I've tried second guessing eating raw so many ways, so many times, I'd say just try it, I mean realy commit to doing the 100% raw thing for 30 days, THEN, make yor educated decision on what works for you or not, until you do, you really have no way of knowing for sure.
So, when you are ready, and that may be right now, you can choose to do the 100% raw thing, and see what you have been missing with that little tiny bit of still cooked food in there.
it may be the difference between feeling great, and feeling absolutely fantasitcally amazingly wonderful, or not,
it's up to you.
I know it makes a trememdous difference with me, no cravings when I'm 100% raw, and also, I have this inner fire of determination, and accomplishment, that no one can shake, it's empowering to me to KNOW that I can and AM doing this for ME. YES!!!

I am 100% raw with no pesticides, no fertilizers, and nothing man-made or syntethic. I drink raw water and raw real sea salt.
