Hi everybody.
I am new to raw food eating. I want to be 100% right off the bat but need help with my soda addiction. I did well the first two days and then fell off the wagon by drinking a soda and then it was downhill.
I drink water and it's okay but it just doesn"t have the taste I am addicted to.Plus I like to drink fountain sodas verses bottled or canned soda. I think I am addicted to the carbination as well.
Any ideas? Will the addiction eventually go away.? I have no problems with the food, just need something with a little taste and zing for drinking.
Thanks in advance.

:) Soda was my favorite drink, should have been water but no.
I use to start the morning off with soda and end the day the same way, it was difficult to break that habit but the more i read about what soda does to the body, not to mention the problems it causes to the kidneys.
I started purchasing sodium free seltzer and mixing it with fresh orange juice, grape juice and other fruit juices all raw, it really helped me. The seltzer is a little strong but i like it you can also use bubbling water, many of these waters can be found in your health food store.
Also you can find organic soda in your health food store on the occasion that i do buy soda these are the ones i buy.
I can now go 2 weeks without one and i don't miss them at all.
Buying water is better, you can also get the flavored water from the health food store, shop around.
Hope this helps. :) :)

Bethanie gave you some good tips. Here's something else ~
Get some fresh limes (or lemons if you wish) ~ squeeze them. Add to still water (or carbonated to get you started), add agave and you'll have a very refreshing drink.
Bo use to drink straight carbonated water all the time. Took him awhile to let go of that and just drink pure water. I like lime or lemon in mine. Gets me to drink more.
Another thought, drink the lime/lemon juice then if you still want soda, have one. IF you are drinking diet, then it's the aspartame you are addicted to. You might wish to do a search here or on google for the "qualities" of aspartame.

welcome to alissas site jw,
for me juicing pineapples , plus adding in some oranges gives me a sweet / sugary zing i got from pop .
other sweet fruit like strawberrys . then also dry dates and figs help quench the sweet tooth , i think sodas like half cup or more of sugar per 12 oz .
and to me youll cave many times back to pop like most everyone caves on something . so just work at making it the smallest amount possible when you cave .
goodday

You given me some great ideas, i will be trying all.
I just purchased some frozen fruit from the health food store and now when i'm craving a sweet i will blend it with sparkling water and that will satisfy me. :D

Good morning !
Just wanted to thank everybody for the great replys. I'm going to the store this morning and get all the things suggested and give them a try.
Yes, I do (did) drink diet so I probably am addicted to aspartame. I know it's a bad chemical.
Hope you have a nice week end.

Julie, I think its like any addiction. You'll have some withdrawals and cravings but the longer you stay away from it the easier it will get. I gave up soda a few months ago (coke was my poison), thought I'd go bonkers there for awhile. Well, about 2 weeks ago while camping I broke down and had a coke...couldn't stand it. It tasted like pure, high fructose corn syrup. Its safe to say I'm over the whole coke issue.
