Is it possible to do Bikram Yoga and fast as well? I have been doing Bikram for about one month now. I have a strong desire to do a juice fast. Do you guys think it can be accomplished along with Bikram.
Any feed back is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rawredbone

Sure, long as you get in enough fluids ~ meaning pure water as well as the juices.

I would say start the fast and see if you have the energy to do Bikram. I personally felt Bikram was pretty intense. As you know, there is a lot of sweating, which means cleansing. I know I have heard of others fasting while doing Bikram and since you have been doing it for a month now, you might be in good condition to do it.

I'm on day 30 (started Sept. 21st ) of fasting. The first 3 weeks I had the energy to keep up a steady practise of Bikram yoga. This week it was harder due to a heavy detox I started after going to just lemons and water to fast on. I made it to class twice this week, and just let my teacher know that I was fasting and might take it slow. I was able to get through each class fine. The key is not to expect you are going to be at your optimum performance, and not expect that you won't be either. Just let your body guide you in how much you can do and how far you can push. No one is going to judge you but yourself on how well you can do or how much you can do. The bikram yoga itself is great for helping the fast. It helps the lymphatic system, adrenal glands, nervous system, circulatory system and it flushes out all of those toxins stored up you are trying to release. Another thing I concentrated on while in class while doing this fast is to really focus on the tourniquette effect during the poses. After the release of the pose you've been in for a minute or 30 seconds, the blood rushes to those areas that were contracted and flushes them out with fresh oxygenated blood.
The last thing I'd have to say is that the mind has a way of talking us out of the things that are most beneficial to us. Sometimes it's out of the fear of failure, or fear of change. Don't listen to your mind telling you that you can't do something, just listen to what your body is telling you.
Good luck on your fast! :-)

I found that my Yoga practice(Bikram) was so clear and focus when I was fasting. I think it really helps your mind extend and expand into each asana.

I'm currently fasting on juices and doing Bikram Yoga 4x a week and it feels amazing! I would highly recommend combining both.
