mentioned trying to do a pumpkin variety,.......
came out good

but.........
bit tricky...........
one tray came out...........ok
but the other was difficult to get it to that leather pull stage

hmmm, wonder if might need to mix with other hardy fruits to do it

good though

Maybe add banana's......maybe pumpkin does not have enough natural sugars? to give it the stickiness to hold together?? How was the flavor? did you add the spices? I am going to the store to pick up ingredients....maybe even mix with banana's and cranberries.....yummmmm! Good Fall flavor huh?

Thank you for trying it out- I made apple cinnamon leather yesterday and my5 year old son ate both trays...... :D

I have also been thinking of blending a zuchinni veggie garlic mix and dehydrating , cutting into strips.....to make "pasta"- the options are endless- :-)

Have a wonderful day!

yes.. i do think it needed to be blended with something else...... banana sounds good!!! the flavor was nice, added the spices so it was just right!!
apple cinnamon sounds nice too~~
but you are right, the consistency with pumpkin would never dry up correctly, so mixing it is necessary~!~

keep me posted on these other yummy varieties you make!~~ :)

Making my first batch in the dehydrator now- 4 banana's with one small pumpkin and all the yummy smelling spices when blended is making 2 trays full (kind of thick)- BUT...looks like it will work with the banana's. I was noticing the commercial fruit leathers in the store ALL have apple or pear puree as the base also!

It is making my house smell heavenly-just like a pumpkin spice candle!!!! Yummy :D

sounds yummy
and that would make sense the pear or banana base necessary
i made more the other day, from my smoothie
it was cactus(juice), pear, parsley, and papaya
yum

the cactus leaves are called napole i think.........
i only juice the leaves, and you have to be careful handling it, because there are thorns that are nearly invisible, and are a headache to remove!!
the juice is very very good for you, antioxidants and vit c....

i also now pick (they grow next door to me!! :)) the fruit from another type of cactus tree -- they are large red bulbs that grow off the cactus tree........they are the fruit of the tree (don't know the name)
but also VERY YUMMY!!

you can get the napole - cactus leaves in the market!

so glad the fruit strip you made came out so well!!
so, was it just the pumpkin and banana?? and approximately what proportions?

thanks for sharing....... :D

4 large banana's to one pie size ( similar to a large cantoloupe) pumpkin (peeled and cubed) 1 tsp pumpkin pie spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice)!!!!!

I will have to hunt down the cactus leaves- sound very intriguing

Have an awesome day!

sounds good........wow you make a large amount of fruit leather!! :)
i use small amounts........but then it goes so quickly
i only used a 'fraction' of a pumpkin!! and i wonder -- probably less than 1 whole banana

thanks for the info!!
have a good evening........ :)

by the way........ i just made the italian meatballs!! they are yummy
(mushroom, tomato, walnut, garlic.....)
going to make my spagetti squash spagetti now......... :p
