Exercise Ball and Resistance Tubes...do you use them? Do you have any resources for which exercises to do? Do you like them and do you think they are effective?

I just bought them (I have done sit-ups on the ball before) and would love some input from others about using them.

Thanks,
Julie

Hi Julie,

I have the resistance tubes. I use them when I am rehabbing from an injury or when I am staying in a hotel and want to exercise in my room. I use them for legs, back and arms. I have never used the ball before, but the tubes provide a nice pump.

Peace.

Hi Julie,
I use both the resistance bands and the exercise ball all the time. I like the bands for inner and outer thigh work mostly. They work well for triceps and biceps as well. I use the ball for abs, and also use it like a weight bench, while using dumbbells to do upper body exercises. This makes it so that your entire core is involved in the whole exercise. Upper body, abs and legs are all engaged. :)
Didn't your ball come with a chart to show the different exercises you could do with it?
I got the core secrets from the infomercial on TV and it came with videos and cards to show different exercises for the entire body.
Go on-line or look in fitness/wellness magazines. They are always showing different exercises for all body parts.
Hope this is at least a little helpful.
Take care.
Kim ;)

If the exercise ball is big enough, replace your computer chair with the ball. It may sound weird, but it's actually quite comfortable.

Thanks, ya'll! I did a light workout with them tonight and it was cool. Yes, they came with instructions, but I like visuals with real people. There's a web site with all the free weight exercise instructions that is great. I have some free weights but before I get back into it, I'd like to do some general toning. I always gain weight and right now I don't want to see the scale go up -- I know muscle weighs more than fat, but it's a psychological thing.

ok i know this is gonna sounds weird but bear with me. even in my unheathy days i read a lot about health and actually went out and bought weight machines and other various equipment just so i would have them when i was ready lol so my living room is kinda living room / gym . i love strength training both with the machines and with the bands.. there are some great abe moves, arm, back, and leg stuff you can do with them. (the bands) i have the ball but never really understood how that was all supposed to work so now my son plays with it. I know some pilates workouts incorportate the bands and wow they really get you working. Hope some of this helps. cheers coffeesquirrel

Kim,
You're just the one I want to speak to at the moment.

I wanted to buy Core Secrets. Did you buy it online or TV? I want to buy a "recycled" one and have not been lucky.

Which CD's did you buy as I know there are many at coresecrets.com.

Wow...I'm getting excited and yes I used the bands and ball, with some free weights at the gym.

Do you like spri stuff best....spri.com
I need to find site where much better prices and didn't see amazon.com to be better either...yikes...

I want to buy the resistant bands, but not one at a time...too pricey....

Library has books you can borrow for pilates on the ball that shows exercise or do search for stability ball, stabilizer exercises, and such...........I have borrowed myself too.

Hi Carol,

I got 3 resistance tubes in a set (Danskin) at Walmart for about $13. They work great.

I'll be interested to see what people say about Core Secrets...I was looking into that as well.

CarolG,
I saws the Core Secrets on TV, but purchased it on-line. I think it was around 50.00 total for the whole package. The videos I received were the 4 videos that came with it. I didn't get to pick which ones I wanted. I really like the ideas they give you for using the ball. Things you wouldn't just think of on your own. The lower body exercises are out of this world.
I wish you luck in your search for a 'recycled' ball. I have 3 different size exercise balls which I bought at Sports Authority.
Kim :)

Thanks for responses. I have been so busy with the rawhike.com as a volunteer. Lots of work and can't wait to see it all happen. We are doing some events in Boulder, I promoted

I am still thinking Core Secrets, but wish I could find some ebay specials. I even thought someone would love giving them up at a freecyle list, but so far no luck. We don't have cable, so it's magazines or me getting the Core Secrets. I do also like using the resistant bands at gym.

I have a spri ball that has lasted for ever so no problem with needing more balls. I may have nautilus one too.

Thanks for Walmart Raw Nat. and also Kim tips.
