I found a recipe that calls for coconut water. Is this just the liquid inside a coconut? I thought that was coconut milk? And what about coconut butter? TIA, Julie

Hi and welcome Eluj!

Coconut water is the water inside of the coconut- the best being a young thia coconut (shaved around the base and has a pointed top)

Coconut milk I think is processed, not raw. I'm not really sure but I wanted to keep your post alive for someone else to jump in :)

Good luck- that coconut water is one of my FAVORITE things! Enjoy!

yes, coconut water is the water found inside the nut...coconut milk is created when you blend the water with the meat, and either strain it through a cheesebag or just leave it unstrained...coconut milk that you buy at the store in tetra-packs or bottles is pateurized (heated)...coconut butter/oil (it's the same thing, coconut oil solidifies at room temperature) is made by shaving mature coconut meat into thin shavings and pressing the oil out of it...look for cold-pressed kind (it's great for your skin...use it as a moisturizer or eat it) hope that helps :)
