O.K. guys. I am just a "hick" from a LITTLE northern NY town....But I am venturing to NYC for the marathon (NOV 5TH) in just a couple of weeks. I have never been to the city ( ) but understand there are many raw restaurants......any ideas as to any located near 48th st and Lexington?????? My dh and daughter will be with me and I would love to take them somewhere to "experience" the raw lifestyle (they are NOT raw)....I have tried to search on my own but since I am not from the city it is hard for me to fathom the distances of the restaurants from our hotel.....and I knew someone here would be able to help out because you are always so kind ;) Thank you everyone!!!!

Hey! You're from upstate NY too?! I'm moving back to the Albany area in Dec. Where are you?

There are a good amount of raw restaurants in NYC, I'm not sure where in relation to where you will be,(I'm not to savvy with NYC whereabouts either). Alissa has them listed in the back of her book.

Caravan of Dreams
405 E 6th St.

Quintessence
263 E. 10th St.

Bonobo's Restaurant
18 E. 23rd St.

Caravan is not a raw one but it is vegan with many raw choices.

Hope this helps. See you in the Empire State!

Wherever it is, it isn't very far. Especially if you are not opposed to subways. There are a few. I can't remember which is closest to that address.

I live in a small village near Watertown, by Ft. Drum, 1/2 hour from Canada in the Thousand Islands region .....Albany is about 3 hours from us! Where do you live now? Are you ready for winter here? BRACE YOURSELF!!!

Thank you everyone for the links and resources! The map is great! I just feel overwhelmed when I don't know my way around but really want to go to a raw restaurant! It's unheard of around here! People don't even know what raw vegan means and they look at me as if I have 3 heads....when they are the ones eating things they cannot pronounce!!! :D too funny right? Ahhh, our society is so odd! Thanks for the tips!

Wow, that's up north allright. I've heard it is very beautiful up there.

Right now I live in the Chicago Burbs. My husband and i have lived here for three years. We like it but all of our friends and family are back home.

I must say that this area has a good amount of raw food culture, so in that I'm sad to leave. Like you said, people in the northcountry aren't always willing to accept different views. Well, now there will be two of us up there.

A two person raw army!

Sign me up! How far away will you be from this area? There are a few of us in northern NY (just not in my town) Maybe we can organize a "raw fest" next summer!!!
