View Full Version : Help! How to make dried berries
Eastersky posted a delicious sounding Trail Mix. It includes dried blueberries and dried cranberries.
Can I just put fresh berries in the dehydrator until they are dried?
Do I need to soak them in anything first?

Just wash them off, maybe give them a good shake in a collender, spread them out on the dryer sheets and plug 'er in...yummy smells!

If you want your cranberries to be sweeter, you could do what I did to make my nut/cranberry mix. I took 20 pitted dates and about 1/2 cup water and processed it long enough to make a medium/thick syrup. I then soaked the berries in this for about 1/2 an hour. Keep in mind that I made quite a lot of this mix so you may not need to make that much syrup. I also soaked my pecans in it. You wouldn't need to sweeten the blueberries because they are naturally sweet.
