I am sooooo excited - my 9 tray excalib-whatever dehydrator is coming today! I'm all set to start with either banana fruit leather or the onion bread; I can't decided which.
So for you veterans...does it hugely matter what you cook at the same time? Like if I do the onion bread and banana leather at the same time, will it make my bananas taste like onions, and onions taste like bananas?
What should I definitely NOT do together.....I want to make the most of my 9 trays, but lots of recipes take like a full day to cook so I'd like to do as many things at once as I can. :D

Hi Sherah,
Yesterday, I made corn chips with coconut cookies together and they came out fine!
I know in Alissa's DVD, she shows alot of stuff together!
When I make the onion bread it is very strong and also when I do the banana leather it is strong!
I would probably do them seperate.
You could experiment and let us know, unless someone else has tried it together!
Happy Dehydrating,
Pansy ;)

I did Alyssa's onion bread and bananas at the same time. I would NOT recommend it. I had onion tasting bananas  .

Good to know!!! Thanks for sharing that. I had wondered this as well... Now I think I'll try to do sweet things together one day, then savory stuff the next? Would just take a lot of planning I guess...

Hey all! Initially it takes some planning, but you will get into the "swing" of things. It's taken me a while to get things sprouting, dehydrating, ripening, etc.
I too got a 9 tray Excalibur dehydrator and LOVE IT! I've even "warmed" things up in it, like Alissa's pizza slice, coming straight out of the fridge.
The "hum" of it running is comforting to me.
You will really enjoy it.

It took me awhile to get used to the "hum" of the dehydrator. Now it sounds like food to me!! (When I know the dehydrator is running, something good is cooking!) The onion bread smells up the whole house cooking! DH (who eats SAD) can't wait for it to get done....and you have to try the nacho cheese. I think those two would be fine to cook together! Good luck.
