but i don't want to put them in dirt, is there any other way of getting them to grow into greens without planting them?
I think i saw somewhere that this can be done. Does anyone know the process.
Thanks
Bethanie

it's a entire rinsing........soaking process

I do it very often and there is nothing difficult to it. Just follow narmal sprouting rules.
The hardest thing about it is the time it takes to remove the black caps.

i followed the directions, and they aren't as clear as one might think... i am sure, having done this so well, and for so long........ it is very simple for you.

i have seen some postings that seem to have had difficulties in the sprouting process...

so if you wouldn't mind elaborating, on the method............
would very much appreciate it!! :)

Sorry if I came off as a "know it all". That was my attempt at reassurance.
I soak for 6 to 8 hours and then rinse well.
I rinse morning and night for 3 days. When I rinse I immerse them totally and give them a wash as I think they will get a bit slimey otherwise. The green shoots will appear and carry the black caps up with them. A few of these will fall off by themselvs but most will have to be gently removed which is tedious.

:) Will they develop leaves while in the jar? I don't want to plant them in dirt unless i have to in order to get the leaves.
I love the way they taste and i could eat them by themseves.
Thanks for the information. :)

when you say........you rinse them morning and night for 3 days. ARE THEY SOAKING IN WATER DURING THOSE DAYS,........OR JUST DRYING OUT OF WATER??
that's the part i am not sure about.........
when i read the sprouting journal, it seemed to say --- soak for 6-8 hours, then rinse and then soak again in water for another 6-8 hours..........and then continue the same process over the next several days

--DO THEY REMAIN IN WATER, WHEN THEY ARE NOT BEING RINSED??
PLEASE.... HELP DETAIL THIS FOR THOSE THAT ARE NEW TO THIS.... :)

MUCH APPRECIATED.........

I keep them in my green plastic sprouter tray that has draining holes and then I just drop the tray in to a dish of filtered water and swish them around for about 10 secs and then drain again.
