hi--
im living in italy for a semester and decided to try these cactus fruits i came across, but they have so many super-hard seeds in them i cant figure out how to eat them
i searched the site and found lots of comments on the thorns on these fruit, but no comments on all the seeds. maybe the variety here is different from the variety in the US, but the ones here have so many of these hard little seeds, about as big as small pebbles, and they arent concentrated in any one part of the fruit so theres no easy way to de-seed them.......comments anyone?

thanks

your cactus fruit seems quite different then what i have here in california
the ones hear, are about the size of a mango, and often larger!
sliced down the center....... and all you do is scoop out the pulp and eat

it is very simple, there are black seeds, but small and edible........ the meat has the seeds in it

it tasted like sort of strawberryish...........
but these seeds have no problems with digestion

sorry, don't have any information for you

do you have a pic??
i did see, today another cactus tree, with a very different looking fruit on it....
wondering if it's more like the one you're talking about... hmmm?

Hi! We get cactus fruits here in Denmark once in a while. They are quite small though, a bit larger than kiwi friuts and they are orange or red. Those you simply eat with the seeds, no problem at all. I like to juice them though (blend and drain them in lack of a juicer) and use the juice for colour in orange juice or in icecream.. I hope this helps!

i also juice the shell itself........since it seems so full juice, aside from the pulp......
i love them, they are sooo good

so you actually eat the WHOLE shell -- blending it!???

lol.. No, I peel them, I do not trust them little needle like things on the shell, they are all covered with it! I squeese the pulp for as much juice as I can or at least filter the seeds from..

:D After he told he sliced one for us and told us how to eat it, not to chew the seeds but to separate them with our tongue from the meat and swallow them, we were in love and can't get enough of them.
I also love to juice them, i just slice them and put them in my juicer and "yum, yum" so refreshing, you can also add kiwi with them and juice together, really good in the morning or at noon.

hey--thanks for the replies--

I wonder is this just some weird variety; i guess i will have to try just swallowing the seeds....im afraid to put them through my juicer--afraid the seeds will crack the auger...theyre really big and really hard, like pebbles..... the fruit tastes good--like mangoes, but it seems a real pain to use the kind they have here (rome)
