Recently I started going to a farmers market the town over from me and I love it. I got bags and bags of veggies for $11.00! That's unheard of here.

I know that most farmers markets stop in October because I checked the local farmers market web page. Do they go indoors after that or just stop? I've been away for a couple of weeks so I don't even know if the stand I go to is open anymore.

I'm really concerned about this. I can't keep going to Whole Foods to buy tomatoes!

Well, you do live in Cali. I'm sure that helps. ;)

That is the one thing I do miss about California. Pretty much all year around we had the Farmer's Market. I went to the Long Beach one where we lived, which wasn't as good as the Santa Monica one, but we still got fresh pickins even if they were slim pickins'!

Where do you live?

If you shop in a Kroger owned store, or any store, try asking the produce guy if he can get organic tomatoes. King Soopers, which is a Kroger store, gets a pretty good selection of organics, and it's more affordable then Whole Foods.

Where they go depends on where you live. Most likely they just stop. Even in Ca. we get slim pickin's in the winter because all the summer crops are gone and only winter crops available from the fewer farmers who grow them.

Some of the markets here were shutting down in October yet, most stayed open.

You might check around and find some farmers near you and see if they would be willing to sell directly to you. Talk to the farmers at the market you go to now ~ if they're still around.
