Hi,

I'm new to the forum but have been raw for 2 months. I recently got an Excalibur Dehydrator and all was well until I realized that my stomach was KILLING me after eating food from my dehydrator. I made some delicious pizza and soon after, I was hunched over on my bed in pain. Then I made burgers and same thing. My mom eats the SAD and had one of my veggie burgers out the dehydrator and experienced the same tummy ache.

Am I the only one going thru this? What could the problem be? Someone suggested that the dehydrated food may be too concentrated and that my body can't digest the enzymes properly. I really want to stay on this diet, but I cant without having a variety of food and without my dehydrator.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch,

Supposedly, and I believe, when you first get into raw, you become more sophisticated in the raw food diet as time goes on. man... google paul nison on google video. I really like that video.

Are the things that you have eaten all from the same batch and is it possible that something is contaminated.
I did not have any negetive experiences from eating dehydrated foods.

i dont know the recipes for either of those off hand..but do they both contain almonds or almond butter for which you used the same container of each? or any type of nut or nut butter?

i know that ive had quite a few bad experiences with nuts and nut butters being spoiled (rancid?) and getting very sick from it.

I've made those recipes with almonds, but they've come from differnet batches. So I'm still not sure what the problem is.

Be sure your temperature gadge is calobrated andthat you are properly dehydrating before food is actually spoiling.
Also be sure the SAD folks aren't getting there raw meat contaminates on your ingredients. Even sharing seasoning containers can be detrimental if they are touch the garlic powder with wet hands full of bacteria that would normally cook away i there fried food yet might cause slight food poisoning in you uncooked preparations.

Just a thought.

Dehydrated foods bother me and my daughter so we've stopped eating them.

Hi
When i first ate dehydrated goodies, after eaten all raw for four months, i experienced stomach ache

You have already mentioned that dehydrated foods are very concentrated.

You need to drink plenty of water prior to eating dehydrated foods and they are best eaten in small amounts with a large salad to help with digestion.

may be that at this time you are leaning toward a more natural faze of whole foods

could be that your heat is too high

could be an allergy to something

Hope you feel better soon!

HELP!!!! Dehydrator is hurting my stomach

For a minute I thought somehow the dehydrator was being thrown on your stomach.

How high are you setting the temp? If you are setting the temp too low, you could be fermenting your food.

LOL, I thought the same thing Sharon. My first thought was "well don't put your stomach on the dehydrator.

I'm thinking about the same thing.

GMTA! :D There needs to be a warning on dehydrators not to throw them on people's stomachs!

As a general rule, I dehydrate between 125-135 for an hour or two, then set the timer down to 115 for the remaining time. I've had food taste bitter and spoiled because the heat was so low it created an environment that caused the food to spoil.

People tend to worry that the food will get too hot, but this isn't necessarily the case.

It is like when roasting a meat in the oven at 350 - the meat never actually gets to this temperature but the air surrounding it needs to be higher to help the food get to a desired temperature.

Besides, if you are in transition, just starting out or not pure, using certain things that are not pure and dehydrating is going to be part of your diet anyway. Once your body is really pure, you won't want anything questionable or dehydrated. Now, if your stomach is bothering you then it could very well be you are ready to take your raw diet another step up to fresher, whole foods.

Nut allergy?

I know too much dehydrated food doesn't make me feel fabulous, so I don't eat much

I would guess though you're leaving it in there too long and it's mold that is bothering you...

For real Sharon. Warning this machine may be hazardous to belly fat, hehe!

I agree with everyone here (especially the part about being cautious putting the dehydrator on your belly, which I've done, but all my trays fall out when I breath), but seriously...

 could it be detox symptoms?

Note to Self: Do not place dehydrator on stomach :)

Thanks for the feedback. I will try to raise the temp, drink more water, and also try to eat more fresh whole foods. THANKS!!!!!!!
