Good morning!
Just got a batch of crackers out of the dehydrator and they are seriously yummy! A must try...
Got the recipe from : http://www.rawbc.org/raw_recipes.html
EVERYBODY’S FAVORITE CRACKERS
(Boutenko)
1 cup soaked sunflower seeds
1 cup soaked walnuts
1 cup soaked almonds
1 tomato
1 cup red onion (chopped)
3 tablespoons flaxseed
3 teaspoons cumin seed (I put about 2 tsp of cumin pwd instead)
2 teaspoons salt (I put 1 tsp)
Mix in food processor or Champion Juicer with blank on. Spread on parchment paper or Teflon sheets. Make them very thin.
Then using a pizza cutter, cut in squares. They will be easier to break into pieces when dry.
Dehydration time is about 15 to 20 hours
The flavor is awesome! I'll make sure to make a double batch next time!
:)
Enjoy!

I noticed this recipe doesn't call for alot of flaxseed like a traditional cracker....have you actually eaten them yet? They do sound good. I'll give them a go. Thanks for posting.

Hi Wendi,
I just munched on them as I was putting them away this morning...Yum!Yum!Yum! Will be having them for supper with a pumpkin herb spread to accompany butternut soup, carrot-beet salad and left over Noast turkey from Thanksgiving... :o
I, too, find it nice that it isn't a 'real-flaxy' cracker. The result is a little crumbly but then again it could be because I left them in the dehydrator too long. (Couldn't muster the courage to get up in the middle of the night! LOL;) ) I'm no cracker expert (so please feel free to give me your feedbacks on this!) but I'm thinking that next time I might try putting a bit of ground flax to help it hold together a little better. I find that so much of this raw diet is about exploration and trying this and that until you find just the right combination of ingredients that works for you. It can be so much fun...and tasty!
I'm glad some of you will be trying this recipe. It definitely is a keeper!

I have them in the dehydrator right now.
They taste really good raw raw, can't wait to see how they taste after dehydration..
I did grind the flax seeds, I just can't stand those things whole, it's like having a lil bug in your mouth

I'm with you, Morn! Hate those flax seeds! I think I can deal with this recipe and only 3 T of flax seeds!
Thanks for sharing, Carmella!

Okay- so I subbed the red onion and used garlic- they seemed a little dry in the processor so I added 1/2 a zucchinni - they are done and absolutley- delicous ;-)
THANKS for SHARING this!

I have had these delish crackers before, but for my making I use little nuts, so I stick to something like this:
flax
tomatoes
celery
seasonings....
carrots
garlic
onions
**water to blend all together, but add slowly
That about does it....no quantities here, but eye it out only....I do prefer to grind the flax seeds however...
Need buy celery today and maybe make pizza myself as I have tons of tomatoes and can think of lots of pizza.
I add everything in blender and mix away adding water as needed.
I use crackers as pizza crust too.

I love these crackers, they are excellent in taste and texture.
I don't add the cumin though
although they are crumbly.

Oh, yes they were crumbly- but I used the pizza cutter and did squares...only the outer edges crumbled- all of the thicker in the center were not falling apart- when they cooled they stopped crumbling as much!
I forgot to mention I also added 2 large carrots!
These are the best ever!

I also forgot to add carrots to my suggestion and just did to the recipe idea I posted.

Thank you Carmella for this tasty recipe. I had to add a cup of water because otherwise I couldn't spread the mixture thinly enough, but other than that I followed the recipe and they turned out really well.
I'm really pleased, because the first crackers I made (flax and corn) were horrible!

I'm trying these today! Thanks for the recipe! I think I will add a touch bit more flax to help hold them together! I'll post my exact recipe when I'm done if they turn out good!
