you generally buy the whole rye berries, then sprout them yourself.
So what you want to ask for is whole rye or rye berries.

Perhasps you should wait a while before you try this.
I have been sprouting for years but the 2 times that I did wheat berries the results were a disaster. They were so hard that my teeth would not crack them.
What are you trying to make. Maybe we can suggest a sub.

Luna Lyn (Linda) made the bagels recently and posted a pic of them and they looked great.
Where is Linda when you need her.
I had them recently with onion dip and they were terific but I have never made them.

sport IMO the rye berries/whole rye work much better than wheat berries. (also better tasting). i wouldn't fear it sptygl.
Just when you're food processing the sprouted rye into recipes, process until quite smooth, do not leave bits and pieces.
BTW, Renee Loux Underkoffler's book has a nice recipe for rye crackers. The dill gives a nice taste. I like to "cut" the rye a little by adding buckwheat to mellow the flavor.

The rye bagels are delicious!
I agree exurb, to grind the rye berries really good. I made the mistake once of keeping them crunchy and the bagels didn't turn out as good.

I ordered my rye berries from www.sprouthouse.com
I soaked them for about 6 to 8 hours in a jar with a screen and then rinsed 3 times daily for 3 days. They sprouted beautifully.
I also bought barley from the same site and they didn't sprout!  I'm going to try them again but if the same thing happens I'll be getting my barley from another source.
Anyhow, here's one of the bagels I made with the onion dip:

They ar great folks. All you have to do is call them and tell them your problem....they will be happy to replace your sprouts with one that works. You might want to work WITH them. I've sprouted for many years and there are occassionally poopy sprouts from anyone. Just a thought.

Hi Biscuit Grinch,
That is what I meant by trying them again (as in getting a replacement for them and trying them again). Sorry if I worded it wrong. Whenever I have any problems I always contact the business. ;)
Thanks though!
