View Full Version : Incentives for Staying Raw?

Do you give yourself incentives for staying raw? I know the biggest reward would be the way you feel, but a little extra bonus is nice too. I have found myself eating about 1 cooked meal per week for the last few months. I finally decided that I really need to just stick with it and go back to the 100% that made me feel so wonderful. So, I decided to give myself an incentive.
30 days completely raw, and I'll finally get my 2nd tattoo that I've been planning for 6 years! :) The tattoo design and significance is very personal to me, so I think it is a very fitting reward for staying on a diet which I find so fulfilling. :)
I plan to give myself another incentive for the next 30 days after so I can keep going strong! :)

i don't necessarily have an answer for this, as i'm still a newbie, but i do think you should let us see your tattoo once you get it! ;)
I like your idea! I think I want to get a vitamix someday!

A vitamix is a great reward!!! :)

As humans and creatures of habit, I think we respond well to pain and pleasure and that drives us to behave the way we do.
I have been probably 80% Raw for the past 5-6 days and I am a newbie to this and learning so much.
Just this morning i was offered some cooked food at work. One of the guys is getting married and he brought in homemade food from his grandmother.
It was Filipino food and I totally wanted to try it because I LOVE culture and trying new foods.. especially if it is foreign to American food.
Well now that i had a small bowl of veggies (no rice) cooked in a delicious sauce... it has now made my stomach sour and i am noticing my energy may be dropping a bit... im starting to feel a bit sluggish now.
I think this Pain I am currently experiencing is definitely going to motivate me to stay more raw. I am enjoying the pleasures of Raw vegetables.
For the first time I feel Liberated from cravings and snack attacks and dreaming about junk food. .. to me.. that is ULTIMATE PLEASURE because of the freedom it gives me!!! :D

My incentive for staying Raw is to be able to once again fit into my Navy uniforms. I am not active anymore, but that was a time in my life where I felt the healthiest and strongest.

My incentive's are all relative to staying Raw!
*To wake up feeling alive and energized
*To look in the mirror and see no puffy face and dark circles under my eyes
*To have someone I don't know tell me I look radiant and glowing!!!
These things are priceless...........................! ;)

ah, what would be a great incentive....
massage?
cool piece of jewelry?
four course raw meal only offered once a month at Sage's
hum....what would work
to be honest; if i am to go by past experience there seems to be no tangible reward that motivates me quite as much as...
to feel peace
to feel peace
to just go to bed at night and know that i have honored myself the best way i know how.
oh to feel peace...there's nothing like it for me and i get to enjoy it every day.

YES! My main incentive is of course the way I FEEL eating RAW....and the difference it makes in my body. A friend and I decided to go 100% raw last year, and for each 30 days we complete we buy a charm to put on a bracelet. We bought charm bracelets the first month...and so far this year, I earned 4. My goal was to have earned EVERY month...a charm...but I'm looking at the fact that I actually earned 4...that's 4 months SAD eatin' free...and maybe 3 months more to go in this year.....I would love to be a WHOLE YEAR.....100%!!

When I weigh under 200 pounds, I'm at 203 now, then I am spending the day at the women's spa, and getting a full body massage, scrub and facial
I've wanted to go for so long, I used to go about once every few months, but then it seemed like a lot of money to spend on myself, well, now I am indulging in myself, and enjoying life, so here I go.

RP's DAY SPA IS AN AWESOME TANGIBLE INCENTIVE I THINK I"LL USE THAT TO.
My long term incentives are to maintain the use of both my legs and not have my body raveged by the effects of diabetes, hypertension and cancer!
My maternal grandmother died at the age of 62 with metastatic cancer. The cancer battle was months from ovary to lung and was preceeded by a leg amputation, nephrostomy tubes due to kidney failure during her hysterectomy, blured vision, and rage/ personality issues due to diabetes and hormones.
HEALTH IS REALLY ALL THE INCENTIVE I NEED

Hey, I just saw that you live in SLC! It's cool to see another raw foodist in the area! :) Do you like Sage's? I only went to their raw food night once last year. It was all right, but I think they should have more options on their everyday menu. :)

corinne youre so pretty!
ive never had incentives aside from the typical "you wont be all water-weighty and moody"..but i think im gunna start bc of this thread
RP..a day spa is a fantastic incentive. i might steal that from you :D
and i want a tattoo..so maybe ill make that one one too.
and basically just let you guys live your lives, and then steal everything you do :p
oo i really want to go to a raw retreat or juice fasting retreat for a few days. i think im gunna make that my incentive to stay 100% for..who knows how long.
i dunno..i just like this thread.
ill leave now :)

I'm like that for fasting. I say "mom, if i do it I need something tangible to motivate me!" and she always responds with "just doing it and being proud of yourself should be motivation enough." I was like that with raw at first, but now an inscentive to STAY raw is to remember what it was like on cooked. I don't ever want to feel that miserable again! I think I'll try to find an inscentive to fast now lol.

love this thread by the way! i agree that Sage needs more raw options as the raw cashew pad thai salad is the only one...oh, but i love that...the price is a little steep and i've been trying to figure out how they make that amazing dressing.
have you been to omar's? he is owner and chef at "living cuisine" in sugarhouse...west of wild oats market in the herbal remedy store.

My incentive is a little different than most.....
I have a younger brother who has always looked up to me. He still does. But somehow I let myself go and don't feel like a role model. I am a model - for the don't do that to yourself club.
He just had a baby in May (My first Niece) and they feed her formula. She has never had breast milk. I tried to convince them, but it didn't work. I could here in his voice and attitude - Why would I listen to you about health and nutrition?
My reward is to go to Pennsylvania in December with a new body, mind, and spirit and let my example show them there is a better way.
I love my brother and he has always relied on me for direction....
I want to be a road map for him, not a speed bump.....
That is my reward!!!!!
And of course, my amazing new health!

Incentive, I don't need one. My health says it all for me. Fibro is way down, no lupus attacks, more energy that I know what to do with, losing weight, sleeping and looking better. Go back to the sad way of eating? Never...

I really want to try that pad thai. I have a recipe in one of my books for pad thai, but I haven't made it yet, because it has SO many ingredients! Gotta try the Sages! :)
I haven't been to Omar's yet either. Have you?

Well, this might be a little silly...but I just ordered a charm bracelet. The initial charm says "no more excuses" and for every 5lbs I lose, I want a veggie or fruit charm.

I love this thread too! I am going to reward myself with a pedicure, as I have never had one because I was always too embarrased of my feet. I have has athletes feet for 20 years (or more?) and after being raw for 3-4 weeks, it completely cleared up!! I'm in my 6th week now of 100% raw . . . time for that pedicure!!

Hey Bingka
that is so lovely :) i like your approach to incentive
i think i am probably along the same lines. wanting to be an example to those that i love, so that they will feel the great health and benefits that we feel and live fuller and happier lives together.
Leading by example and actually sharing our "secrets" of health and vitality rather than hoarding it ... its an act of love.
