I got one set of blood results back today. Actually, she called us. Said my B12 was fine, but my vitamin D was really low and certain numbers on a liver function test were too high so she wants me to have another test on the 19th to look at that more in depth. Is there anything that'll help my liver? Sometime other than that cleanse on drinking olive oil? Eww, I just can't do that!

I have a liver cleanse box from a company called "advanced naturals". It is a thirty day program with herbs that are meant to detoxify your liver. I haven't done it yet, because I am afraid that it will make this transition even more difficult while in college... but I think that my major skin detox is an indicator that I need some liver help :) So, if you don't want to do the liver/gallstone thing this may be an option!

what do you mean by liver too high?

As you know, liver like any other organ is a part of a whole body sytem. Making sure bowels are consistent is crucial in over all health of our organs. As you "improve" the liver, toxins can overwhelm the other filtering organs so that is when bowels/yurination needs to be kept consistent. Just some information to throw in.

There are a number of ways to treat the liver:

Drinking water

Exercise--blood flow

One of my favorite ways to detoxify is castor oil packs

Milk thistle to aid in reproduction of cells and cleanse

Artichioke is a great tonic for liver

Greens are liver friendly

Lemon juice is detoxifying and cleansing and rejuvenating to the liver/BITTER foods tonify the liver

Red clover one of my most favorites is a awsome blood cleanser

Stinging Nettles another favorite

Topically: Carrot oil can be used in the liver area

Color therapy

Liver is prone to anger & frustration, the element of wood corresponds to the LIVER.

BTW, ALFALFA IS AN EXCELLENT SOURCE OF VITAMIN D!

Thank you! I was just about to "bump" this thread up. I don't know the specifics, but on one of the liver panel tests she said the numbers were elevated. Not sure which it pertains to or anything, but i'll find out next thursday. This Thursday I get my results from the thyroid/pituitary/diabetes tests back.

I know somebody who did a "fresh apple juice" liver cleanse. All she drank was apple juice for about a week, and her liver dumped all of those green pellets that happens when you do the "olive oil" liver cleanse. She might have done a few other things, but no olive oil. Sorry I can't remember the details, but perhaps google can help you.

I know that elevated liver enzymes indicated toxicity to the liver and is pretty common especially those of us that have been on medications.

Yes, the malic acid in apples help break down stones. Apples in general are liver friendly too.

How are your food allergy lately?

I've had this nagging feeling that my liver is overly toxic and have thought that for over a year. Hmm.

Food allergies, well....this doctor doesn't like that i'm on a "restrictive diet" She just knows i don't do animal products and can't do grains well. Doesn't know i'm raw and I don't plan on telling her. She wants to refer me to a top allergist around DC. Thing is the previous tests on skin pricks and the protein showed negative, but my blood results were positive so...who knows. I'm still reacting to SOMETHING, but i think it's a little less. Still frustrating as heck though! Thanks for asking.

This same doctor wants to start me on massive doses of vitamin D. Are there any food sources for this? My new liquid vitamins has 100% RDA so that should help some. My body won't absorb vitamins A,D, and K so that's part of my problem, but I'd really rather not do synthetic shots for this!!!! My mom says ultimately it's our choice, but I have a horrible time saying "no" like when they tell me to get on the scale lol. I tell my mom "i'm not going to do it!!" but when they say "step on the scale, take your shoes off..." I obey without a word. I've very easily persuaded, if that's the correct word. I'm just nervous about this Thursday. That's the important one!

oh, haha. Thanks! Must have missed that one! I can't find alfalfa sprouts anywhere, but i'll keep my eyes open! I take walks daily outside, but I'm covered in long pants and sleeves so...only my face, neck, and hands are getting sunlight.

That's where you need the Sunshine, on your face. All you need is Alfafa seeds and you can sprout them yourself.

Yes, like Spicyfull said, your own seeds and you can house many alfalfa bins!!! That would be a beautiful project! :)

Artichioke is a great tonic for liver

I have read somewhere that if you have stones in the bile ducts to avoid artichoke.

My vitamin D levels were low as well.

I wonder if it has something to do with the stimulation of the bile production?

are you taking anything that is potentially toxic? Are you taking E-3 live?

MissLinda,
How do you do the castor oil packs?

I am trying to find things that I can do while nursing because I also have low Vitamin D levels and am detoxing through my skin pretty badly.

Thanks
