Hello Everyone-

I have been here a while, devouring posts about this way of eating and have to say I seem to have found a new passion.

I am a Reiki Master and light worker and have been a veggiesaur for about 8 years now.I stumbled onto this website while researching the benefits of carrot juice to treat cancer and liver cleansing(that's another post).

I decided to 'tinker' around with this diet for a few days-7 to be exact. I juiced for years and stopped because it got to noisey, inconvenient and expensive(excuses, excuses :o ). I just got my juicer out of the cupboard last week. Decided for 1 week I would juice each night and see what happened. The first two nights of juicing I could not sleep..I was literally bouncing off the walls with energy. I lost 6 lbs. Anyway,

Intrigued a bit I decided to play with Raw food for a few days. 3 days I ate, until I was stuffed I might add, nothing but Raw food. I lost another 3 lbs...
Weight notwithstanding(health is the point not weight) I feel awesome!

So, this morning I wake up late and grab a mini wheat bagel from the cupboard, packed some sprouts and tahini on it and hit the road. That bagel hit my tummy like a lead brick-I was amazed at how quickly my body told me I just put sucky food in it. UGH!

I have a ton of questions and will start a journal soon, I just wanted to say Hello and ask if it is really possible that my body adjusted so quick to fresh raw food and was rebelling against that bagel...I mean really-3 days i surely not enough time to get my tummy into a new groove....is it???

I look forward to talking with everyone and starting this 100 RAW lifestyle-although I must say the girls that work for me are a little leary, they have heard about all kinds of stuff in the last 7days :D

Hi PL,

Welcome to the site and to raw food!

I've read that most people do have an intolerance to wheat but don't know it. I believe I do as I've experienced the same as you.

Our bodies become accustomed to what we feed it so often and when we finally give our bodies that much needed rest from the culprit and then re-introduce it, the symptoms flare up again. Try continuing to eat the wheat and in no time your body will re-adjust to it and put up with it. Well, I hope you don't try to do that, but that's what'll happen.

There is an excellent booklet called "Grain Damage" By Dr. Doug Graham. It explains everything you ever wanted to know about cooked grains. He sells it on his site, www.doctorgraham.cc if you're interested.

Welcome welcome!

I agree with Sharon...Wheat is a common allergen...I have issues with consuming it too, even if it is sprouted and live. The book she mentioned is great.

Best wishes on your raw journey.

Cassy :)
