I hesitated posting this, but my daughter told me that we both could not have imagined this, and she is right. We often compare heights, and she noticed this first. I was reaching to clean a ceiling fan and she noticed that I had grown! She was right. I would always have to get a chair to clean this fan. It did not stop there. We measured ourselves standing next to each other, and clearly her eyes used to hit right below mine. Now there is about a 2-inch difference with me being taller! Could this be? Has anyone EVER heard of growing taller ta my age?

If teeth can regrow it seems reasonable that the spine can become healthy also whether this actually means bone growing or not. Let us know how it progresses. If you have documentation such as measurements in your medical records pre-raw it would be something Alissa might could use for her TV show.

Maybe you have better posture.

codajess, is probably very right!

I'm improving my posture everyday, and it may be that, but i'm also getting taller. Could be the posture, and the growing, a combination, or just one.

Here is a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/abstract/83/6/1420) about vegies and bone mineral status.

Hm, maybe I ought to get a new tape (the one I bought for the trip to Portugal broke recently) and remeasure myself? When I applied for my first passport around 16 years ago, I was 1.47 m; my latest measurements, within the last two years, were 1.504 and 1.507 (one's height varies by a few millimeters over a day).

I would first guess that the discs in the spine are firming up.

:) Feels good to know that our bodies are noticebly getting better/optimum with the raw-food diet.

I've grown too but I don't know when it happened. I think my dad stopped measuring me at about age 16, figuring I had grown all I would. All these years I thought I was not quite 5'7" but when they measured me at the Dr. I was not quite 5'8" I have been doing a lot of stretching so I wonder if it might be that.

Awesome. I've always wanted to be 5'6" or 5'7" At the moment I measure at 5'4" from the scoliosis, but I'm really 5'5". After my chiropractic appointments (that i don't go to) I grow .5-1"! I'm also very low on my growth hormone hah hmmm....

After college one of my aunts shot up 3 inches!

A person is also taller when they first awaken. During the night the spine is allowed to stretch back out. So if you measure yourself in the morning, you will probably be taller than if you measure at night after your spine has had a whole day to compact back down.

Very possible that through exercise weight loss and proper diet that you have eleveated pressure between vertebrae along the spine. especially if you worked on your core using pilates and yoga type exercises.

I also believe in cellular regeneration. So if raw is birthing new cells for healing why not cells for growth were growth may have been previously stunted due to injury, mutations, poor diet, etc....

At the age of 18 I was 5'11 1/2" then by 22 I was 6'1 1/4" . When I work on my core 2-3 times per week my full figure body looks leaner, slimmer and people swear that I've lost 10lbs. when they see me. The funny thing is I'm NO SLOUCH and always thought my posture was good, but thru pilates and yoga I see that my posture can be GREAT!

Ok, this was night when I noticed this, but I can say that I have been doing a lot of stretching exercises and also did the rebounder. I was wondering if it was all of the stretching because I stretch in my bed to the point of actually hearing things pop, and boy does it feel good! I use the corners of the bed to grip while I stretch to my maximum. This makes perfect sense to me. Truthfully, there was once a time years ago that I truly thought I was taller then got shorter. I guess now, I am regaining my natural height!

This is just too cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't know how happy this post made me!! :D haha. At 5' 1.5" I need all the help I can get!!! (you know it's bad when you count the 0.5" ;) ) when I use to work at the medical clinic I would measure myself like once a week- just incase ..nothing changed ..but I think when my dad gets home tonight I'll have him measure me on my old growth chart that I gave up on years ago when I stopped growing!! I'll let you know if anything has changed. (but keep in mind this is only day 15 for me)

The semi supine position in The Alaxander Technique is designed to counter this.
By laying on your back for 20 mins during the day your discs fluff up again. As well as staying taller it helps to prevent back injury.

raw food is good but not a miracle to fix everything. its not the only tool in the garage.

No, it cannot make you taller. Maybe you are standing taller. but there is NO WAY that raw food is making your bones grow especially being an adult.

Lets be real about raw and people 'may' take us more serious.

poor baby.

dont do any personal attacks. be real about what it is. see it for what it is. its a way of eating that is healthy for us. its not going to make you taller at 40+.

looked at your myspace. lol. seriously. I refuse to post personal attacks.

please don't take it personally, just think your beliefs and putting it out on others is B.S.

prove the science behind getting taller at 40+ lets take it out of personal opinions. raw is not a miracle worker. it cannot cure everything.

If it could, there would be no need for healthcare. I guess healtcare is a way for 'the govt to make money and keep us down" lol. (ever notice that a lot of raw foodists are paranoid?)

seriously, if it works for us great. otherwise:

- everyone would be raw.
- raw people would live extended lives

seriously. lets keep it real.

If anything at that age (40+) you will begin to lose height.

There you go putting your beliefs on others again, not that it's bad, just don't like it.

Druid, I'm just curious- if ppl are getting their eyesight back, re-growing teeth, getting out of wheelchairs, healing from cancers, why is it so hard to beleive that someone could gain a few inches?? Seriously, until you've been 100% for at least 5 years, do yourself a favor & dont tell someone what isn't possible.

I see that druid got banned. That's a good thing, because who knows what direction this thread might've gone?

I'm only 5'2" Wish I could grow taller:eek:

If he was banned simply for the things he said in this thread, I think that's ridiculous. Hopefully there were other postings elsewhere from him that I missed. There's nothing wrong with what he said here.

I think it is wisest not to make or post assumptions, and/or e-mail the moderator directly in regards to administrative decisions made.

My raw friend said, that she grew an inch after 2 years mostly raw. I think we don't even know of much what is possible on raw - after so many generations mostly cooked food - we can not even imagine what is waiting for us!

Great news! After doing yoga 5X/week for about a year, I noticed some of my clothes seemed too short. Turned out I went from almost 5'4" to over 5'5".

This could be happening if your spine is straightening out. Are you doing any type of movement that could be causing this?

Yeesh, I have a sway back and I'm already 6'0 tall - I may pass up my hubby soon.
