Hey all of my RAW friends.......!

I have so missed coming to this board-there is so much positive energy :) I fell from my raw'ness really bad for several months- STRESS!!!!!!!!!!!! And now, I have come to my senses or maybe I am just so disgusted with the way I feel on SAD dead food- That I have to face the the reality that I MUST change.....I feel AWFUL! I have attempted a new RAW challenge many times over the past few weeks and for whatever reason cannot seem to get back on track. My personality is " all or nothing- "this is the way I have always made changes  I need to hear from a few of you about how amazing you feel- I need to recall how I felt at 100%. I am driving an hour into Houston today (Whole food's :D ) to stock up on a few things- what should I treat myself too that will hook me again?

I am glad to be "Home"

Get outta my head, faithfullyfit. I'm in the EXACT same boat you're in, haven fallen off for the last six weeks or so, I wake up every day vowing to be raw again, every day I end up eating cooked food, feeling AWFUL. My health just grows worse and worse.

Only today I know is different. Today I'm back to being raw. How do I know? Bc yesterday I truly hit rock bottom. My insomnia has come back, I am sleeping an average of four hours a night, and that combined with the demands of heavy academic work (I'm back in school) have made my days very exhausting/stressful. Chronic congestion and asthma have returned as well. I have been so cranky too, to the point where yesterday my family was actively avoiding me by hanging out in the other side of the house. I had a sudden moment of clarity where I realized it was my choice: continued downward spiral of feeling terrible all the time, or taking that first step again and eating raw food. I've chosen the latter. Today is my day 1 too. :)

I informed my family last night that for the indefinite future, I will no longer be preparing any cooked food for them. They are on their own. They were all okay with that, even my ten-year-old. They desperately want me to get back to eating raw food again, cause they see how my health and demeanor have deteriorated since I went back to eating cooked. The amount of cooked food I've been eating is about 50% a day, but it's made such an awful difference, even that amount.

I can't give you any advice on what to eat, but I would totally suggest starting a journal here online, it's a great motivating tool. I am going to update mine right now. If you want to start a new challenge thread in the journaling forum, I'll be happy to join you. We can do this together. October 7 is a GREAT day to start: lucky seven!!!:D

Faithfullyfit/Swingbolder - welcome back! That IS the first step! YAY for you two!
Second - do green smoothies. Quick, easy, fill you up fast and you get a lot of food in a compact way.
You both will do fine - the fact you've come back to the boards is RAWsome! Hang in there. Just focus on how well you feel eating raw. Don't focus on what you haven't done - move forward.
Welcome back to the raw world!!! :D

I am not glad that you are struggling also.... but am encouraged hearing that you are on the same path with me. I would love to start journaling and start my challenge with you- do I even remember where my journal is-haha

I hear you loud and clear about the moodiness and crankiness- My kid's have been a little unsure of what was up with me. The worst has been my energy. I feel as if I am in a cloud- I make it to the afternoon.....start with one sad indulgence....then end up so tired that I make the whole family something quick, easy and PROCESSED. My husband is out of town and I was so tired last week that two evenings I fed my 6 and 9 year olds "lean cuisines" frozen food like substances that I found way back in the freezer-(scary) -YUCK!

On Monday I had enough resolve to snap out of it and only put nourishing living foods in my body- I Shopped and gathered enough veggies and fruits for several days.....- My anticipation was for the huge cantaloupe that was ripening on the counter. Well the week continued and worsened.... As for that cantaloupe.... I am sitting here looking at this disfigured rotting, mushy "thing" I must say that is EXACTLY how I feel :(

So, yes, I will journal everything and we can start this challenge together- hang in there and we will have clarity soon! Have an amazing day! I am off to Whole foods and the ZOO with my kids- Maybe the monkeys will share their lunch -haha!

Faithfully FIT -

I found this at the end of your signature - these are definitely words to live by:

"There are NO incurable diseases...IF you are willing to take responsibility for your self and your life, you can heal yourself of anything" - Dr.Schulze

IF you are willing to take responsibility for your self and your life, you can heal yourself of anything"

how true, how very true

Ha, I hear you!!! I had the same experience with a Chinese cabbage that I just KNEW I was going to make a yummy Indonesian salad with. . . but I just never got around to making the dressing, which is the main appeal for this dish, which is spicy, sweet and yummy. . . result that weeks later, that cabbage is still sitting in the fridge. . .which is pushing it, even for cabbage. There is some molding along the edges. . .well, you get the idea.

Thank you for your encouragement, Veganforlife. I've often thought that this is the hardest part about being raw: getting started after being away for awhile. Once I have a few days under my belt, it gets easier.

I had been struggling to get baclk to raw for a couple of months. Now that I'm back on track, I feel so much better. I sleep through the night without constantly waking up. I felt the same way Faithfully fit and swingbolder did. I would promise myself I'd eat raw, only to eat cooked instead.

My health is not good, and recent events forced me to reevaluate myself. I swore that if I am to stay healthy and disease free, I must go 100% raw and stay there...for the rest of my life.

Hey Faithfully Fit,
I'm on Day 2 of a 30-day challenge so I'm glad to see someone else out there is doing it. I too have a difficult staying with it, but luckily, there is a raw bar a couple of towns over, and when the going will get tough (and I know it will), I'm going to treat myself to some raw cheesecake (I think the recipe is in Matthew Kenney's book, but it's great if you can buy it already made :). Also, something that is delicious and really simple is coconut water - it's the best thing for you and you feel amazing afterwards. Hope this helps - stay in touch with your progress.

Hey Everyone

I understand and do the very same thing you are all talking about. Why do we do this to ourselves when we know the benefits of eating raw? Creature of habits, I guess?

Well, I am going to get dressed, go the store and stock this house full of living foods. Together maybe we can overcome, I would like to join in your journey if you will have me.

Welcome back, You are beautiful! That should be motivation enough to want to stay in shape and look great. Anyway, I am a newbie at all of this (just 3 weeks), but if you have Alissa's book the marina sauce is out of this world and the other day I made a (young) coconut, cocoa, banana shake. I blended the coconut water and meat together and cocoa powder and froze it. Then when it was frozen, I took it and blended some bananas with it and some agave nectar. It was incredible and I had no guilt! Can't wait to make another! My suggestion is you need to also look in your cookbook, it will inspire you and make you remember all of the raw food recipes you loved. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Its hard to be that way, but it can push us towards our goals faster...or make us give up alltogether. I am so glad you are back where you belong!

I'm in Day 6 of an attempted 30-day juice fast.

Perhaps we can be of support to one another for our raw food / juice 30 day goals!

I slept for 12 hours last night! That never happens- My body must have had some major healing to do.....I made it 100% yesterday and had so much fresh air and sunshine at the zoo- I feel a sense of renewal. It is so amazing to me that a raw lifestyle is so much more than just food- I feel as though it is a catalyst to help simplify other area's in my life  My husband will be returning from a trip this evening and I think I am going to spend the day cleaning and organizing- with a special emphasis on cleaning out pantries and fridge of some of the toxic things lurking in there (hahaha).

I just wanted to tell each of you to have an amazing day, stay focused on the positive energy that we are all sharing with each other, and absolutely know that WE can do this!

You are all soooooo.....wonderful- THANK YOU! I am going to search the site next for the journaling section!

Just curious to see how everyone is doing? I made some yummy pumpkin, date and pecan cookies today- In the dehydrator now- smell sooooo....good!

I think I ate too much (RAW) today- just seemed hungry or bored all day and kept eating little amounts of everything in sight......feeling very bloated and sleepy! I guess it is better than eating SAD junk! Maybe tomorrow should be a mono day!

My tell you that my skin is already looking better now- my puffy eyes are down and the dark circles are fading- YIPPPEEEEE! I hope each of you have stayed strong and if not, we are human and tomorrow is a new day! Forgive ourselves and move toward the positive energy of others on this forum.

Have a GREAT day!

HUGS,
Melissa
