i picked this THING, i call it a gord............ but it is HUGE, and green, and looks like a green pumpkin!!!
i am sure it is some sort of squash.........

the last time i picked it, i boiled it..........

this time, i cut it up in sections, and made pumpkin chips out of it.........
like the sweet potato chips or zuchini chips

wow ---------- it was sooooooooo good
so surprised, bc when i cut it open it looked just like a pumpkin or acorn squash inside!!

How fun :).
Is it possible to post a picture of this vegetable? I'd like to know what kind of squash it is.

My first thought was that it was the Cucuzzi, which I grew one year, that I received as a gift from an excellent native Italian gardener: (I think Cucuzzi was the one; looked like this anyway)

which can grow to a monstrous size.

ok, i want to get this straight. did you dehydrate, or are you just eating thin slices raw like chips?...it doesn't taste too starchy?

I am having surprises in my garden.

I have two new gardeners, and I have lots of squash, way too much to eat, dehydrate etc for just me. I'm just not that into the chips.

So, I gave some of these huge green squashes to my gardeners, they informed me they are pumpkins, as they are turning orange.

much to my surprise, I do faintly remember my ex saying he planted them, and of course, I don't have any diagram as to what is where, so I am constantly surprised with the many things I find in the garden on any given day, some of the plants I recognize, others I find are weeds or poisons, and others, well, I'm still waiting to find out exactly what they are. LOL

life is such a grand adventure.

and it looked like a green pumpkin!! but i knew it was a squash,.........and i also knew it was DEFINITELY ripe!! bc i got this same type before.....
anyway......... thanks to some postings we narrowed it down.
and now i know for sure --- a friend found a link
and mine was called a BUTTERCUP SQUASH!!
i liked it sooo much, was very very versatile!

squashes come in sooo many varieties............ so i had to do my research
but i DID KNOW THAT IT WAS NOT POISONOUS!!

although in the same orchard, i picked a rose apple -- which when you look at it -- it looks like something edible!! not the case at all!!
so, if you are not sure about something -- research it FIRST!!

by the way -- have another post -- WILL CONTINUE ON THE NEXT THREAD!! :)
