I didnt know where to post this but.....
I just had made an observation ... and I see more women then men who at least post in here...
I've only seen 3 men posting in here... unless maybe they are all hiding :D
am i just not seeing this or are women really more prone to eat raw then men?
I'm curious how this may be related to Male conditioning in society and the whole meaty meal thing....
Thoughts?
thanks!

No. I've seen about equal. Men and women both have their issues! Ha! ha! Women seem to be a little more in touch...a little more sensitive...but that's just an opinion of mine.

More raw-foodists in this forum who are women? I can agree to that.

Men don't like to chat as much I think. And do not reach out as much for help. I do believe that us men are a minority on this board though....
Most of my guy friends say " what, no meat, no grill, thats baddddd"
Most of my female friends say "that is interesting, why are you doing that?"
I don't know 1 person that is raw besides me in person. I have chatted with lots on the internet.

1) women are more "in touch" and sensative to their body
2) men don't chat as much and like to sit back and observe
3) IMO, men think of it as "Macho" to be a steak/potato guy

Bingka, you live in Huntington Beach, where raw food life is quite active-you could find some real life rawfooders in person there.

Ahhh yeah Tweety, the ratio of women to men here is super huge, We men are totally out number. - This is just my opinion, but if you look past the male / female thing, there's alot of knowledge one can gain here, and also give in support to others.
I know there is more than just 3 dudes on this site, but like Bingka said, there's some threads here that are more geared towards women then the men, so we just choose not to post
As far as who eats more raw man or woman, pffft I don't know. I personally don't know anybody in my area that is a RAW foodist. The ones that I met on the meet and greet area, were all females, here in my state.
In general women are more sensitive to their bodies than guys are. Sometimes I'll read posts from different people on here and think to myself -Yep, that's clear as mud to me
It's all good though, everyday is a learning day :D

Yeah, I can agree with some of the above said, women in general are more spiritual and more in tune with their bodies then men in general.

You have to also bear in mind the traditional roles which we can never (well it will take a long time) get away from.
Food was always woman's teritory.
I guess I have to post something here to add my voice as a male.
Like many others I am the only raw foodist I know in person.
I don't usually have much time. This: Raw and Living Food Discussion is the only topic I look at and I usually just skim through to find what is of interest.
I would guess that there are more women than men though.
Most guys I know would be lost without their BBQ

greeninloangales -
Yes I know there are lots of rawfooders here. I have gone to a few places. Good Mood Food, Au Luc, The living Temple. I have met lots of raw fooders. But this gets back to the guy thing. We are not chatty. So I meet people , but don't get to know them. This is my fault. I meet woman and they can talk my ear off and I wind up zoning out and smiling....
I have met men and it's "Hi, Nice to meet you, bye"
I have to instantly feel a bond or I am not interested it getting to know anyone. That is my set back for making friends also.
It's a guy thing.....

Bingka,
Dude, you live in the Mecca of RAW foodist lifestyle area!
I was just looking on the google map of your local area and you got long beach to your upper north west , ( Au lac resturant ), just in fountain valley, which is like in your backyard. {{ I'd personally just eat there as much as I possibly could :D }}. Give Rawtruth a shout - she's cool and knows alot of peep's everywhere. And there's this new rawbie just down the road from you in San Clemente, CA. Of course she's a girl, but most girls have guy contacts

Have you ever heard of F.O.R.M. = F = family/ O = occupation/ R = recreation/ M = motivation.
Next time you go to a function or what have you, try to stike up a conversation with some one and get them talking about what they like to do, most people love to talk about themselves - this way you'll be able to find someone who has interests in area's like you and hopefully they'll meet your criteria.

IMO, I believe alot more women are drawn to anything that contains the word "diet" ;)
what I find even more interesting is, if we are to assume that the men are out numbered, they definately raise the bar in achieving RAW without much struggle to the degree that women tend to display in their "minority" status. Ya know what I mean?

misslinda,
they definately raise the bar in achieving RAW without much struggle How do we raise the bar?, plus men struggle almost as much as women do - we just don't talk about it as much.

My husband is as raw as I am, and he chooses not to chat. ;) I got him to write a little bit on my website, and that's that. Perhaps he likes doing things more that talking about them.

Dude, yur gonna make me use my brain tonite? :D
Hmmm I didn't word that correctly....not that they [don't struggle] I really believe men's approach to RAW is alot more simple. They see it,do it and sure they struggle but they don't disect it like most women do....
;) I mean the threads speak for itself.........we women (in general IMO) are far more hyper critical, over analytical, chronic worriers, emotional etc. we tend to approach it ten million ways to master it. Not all but I would say plenty. Dude, read my journal and the other women :D
You are probably right about there being more women who eat raw food. But there are a few of us men out there.

I agree with you on this, to about 90% of all men, Well I can' really speak for all men,coz we all have our own point of views on it,but from my point of view
there are some dude's who are more analytical and detail oriented.
For example:
Yesterday I had a fricken headache from 4:00 to 9:30,
So after I tried sleeping it off, and it didn't go away. I went back in my mind and on paper and traced back everything that I did - what I ate who I talked to where I went what I touched, what I wore , did I breath any costic fumes or eat any thing that had some sort of a additive. The only thing that was different was some colonge that I borrowed from a friend. So today I tested everything that I did yesterday minus the cologne and guess what no head ache.
Now would alot of guys go to this detail to figure it out? I don't know. And would they bother to tell anybody? Maybe if they had a girlfriend or a wife or a buddy who was raw with them? or if they were challenged to do so - maybe. :D

Bingka,
Have you heard of Meetup.com? There is a group in Long Beach, near Hunington Beach. They usually meet up once a month or so for potlucks etc.. http://rawfood.meetup.com/202/?gj=sj5

i don't really know as i only know me and hubby in real life who are raw. everyone else i know posts here :)
i think its because women socialize and discuss issues more, i think women like the forum communities. i know my hubby wouldn't post on a forum, its not something he would do. he uses internet alot with work, but he doesn't use it socially. i am the one who posts and likes online communities.
however i do think men are conscious about health, and quite alot of men are good chefs! there are a few male uncooks, like Matthew Kenney, Matt Amsden, Juliano etc.. and also some great chefs here.
so thankyou for posting all of you gentlemen as its gives a nice mix of comments and experience. :)
best wishes

i live in so cal.....there are many raws here....i have found it to be about equal in terms of men and women...
what i have found is that the men are actually more hard core raw...where women struggle more...hard to give up this or that...attaching some more emotional issues to the lifestyle....the women talk more about things that taste good or that they enjoy....the men talk more about the nutritional value of certain foods....molecular structure...ph levels....ormus....ect...its almost like a project for them...

Thanks for the advice.....
I will be more active in meeting raw people....
I agree with "men do it, woman analyze it"...

Why does there always have to be a seperation between the men and women doing raw? That just brings a battle between the sexes!
Just eat raw and have FUN!
Warm Blessings,
Pansy :)

i don't see it as a separation or a battle....there are just some differences...
i see it as interesting.....

Hey Cool!
I didnt know my thread got a lot of response.. hehe :D
anyway, thanks everyone for your responses, i enjoyed it.
i definitely dont see it as a battle of the sexes... not the least..
but what i noticed were a lot of women who had admitted their hubbies were NOT raw and that they had to cook for their family and prepare their own meals. Im more like wanting to tell the men to come and join us and eat fruit!
I think as wives and women in general, we can do a lot to encourage better eating in families ( by this statement I am NOT assuming raw women arent trying to better their family's health)
but being that usually as the saying goes "when Moms unhappy, nobody's happy" it just reminds me of my Mom.
How Moms can be so influential on the family diet, religion, etc... because they reign the homestead.
anyway... it just brings to mind... I would really like to see more Male encouragement in Raw Foods .. David WOlfe is the only one that comes to mind but also.. Storm from http://www.thegardendiet.com
the guy is 57 and he is totally buff for his age and looks really good! :p
I mean... to have a really awesome male role model for other men to go raw would just make such a HUGE impact on Men in general and really help get the word out. We are soo ingrained with the Male macho meat and potatoes thing... and i think to pair up a very manly Man with a very healthy and beautiful body and hand him a bunch of broccoli to promote... i think it would make an excellent ad campaign!
Just imagine big brutes in spandex flexing their muscles... holding broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and celery... OH NO.. i think I'll stop right there.. :D
What a way to change the image of male expectations of what they should eat and for better health for that matter... wow.
I mean... the meat and dairy industry has succeeded by giving them slabs of meat and created an "association" to the viewer.. right?
