Hello all,
I am fairly new to the message board.
I was told of raw food a few times over the years but either turned my nose up to the idea because I had NO IDEA of the kind of recipes that are out there!!

I have been going through gradual stages in making a life change over the past 2 years. I dont require coffee in the morning... I LOVE TEA!!! and i have started to enjoy cranberry spritzers with OJ... so i have no soda or coffee addiction... YAY!!!

I've had some other life changes that have brought me to where I am now.
I have learned that to make a life change like this.... wanting it is not enough!

A person has to be READY for a life change in ALL ASPECTS of life:
spiritually
mentally
emotionally
physically

I think I am at that point. I have put the cause of change in motion :)
I am going to be honest with myself and all of you and say that my goal is not to be 100% raw. That I am not ready for... but I am ready to start living a more Raw Life and I've already made these adjustments.
My goal is to start off on a 60/40 or 70/30 base and let my body and spirit do the rest of the work. I am just not going to stress on it so much and start beating myself up. Perhaps I'll let my tastebuds and my stomach navigate me me through the landmines of dead food and hopefully make it to the jungle of sweet raw nectar on the other side.

Yesterday I bought my nifty $10 food processor from walmart and a garlic press, shopped for tons of veggies. After i went to the gym with a friend and going home..
I never thought I would say it but... I was actually LOOKING FORWARD to going home and eating raw veggies!!! :D

Here is my "first" Raw meal that I had for dinner last night:

stuffed red bell pepper

I made the pate stuffing out of more red pepper, sundried tomato in oil, raw walnuts, fresh basil & fresh parsley. blended in a food processor and stuffed it in a juicy pepper :p

Eating this was almost a divine like experience and to the point of almost being sexual ;) :D
I just ate the pepper out of my hand.. spooned out the pate stuffing when i wanted a mooshy bite and bit into the side of the pepper when i wanted a cold crunchy bite

Oh my God! It was soo heavenly!! my mouth watered!!
I am sure you all know!!!
I even had to go the lengths of taking a picture of it before i ate it!
so now i have a very easy recipe to share with my Mom, whom I wish would eat more raw too. she would love it.

haha!
im going to send my pictures to her and i know it will make her mouth water too :D She suffers from fybromyalgia and other aches and pains... she is 53 and she could be so much healthier. My father has his problems too. My heart reaches out to them because I want to cure my parents of their illnesses. That is the kind of feeling I get when it comes to things like this.

anyway, i just wanted to share my heavenly red pepper experience with ya'll.
and today i had a bagle for breakfast with creamcheese and I am thinking how it just was sooo not appetizing!!! i just came off a detox and i am finding my stomach is very sensitve to dead foods. which is a good thing i'll add
maybe i will go raw 100% one of these days...

i know now that I can DEFINITELY survive and thrive and even drop some weight over the holiday season!!! I have NO DESIRE to eat other people's sweet cakes and junkfood at potlucks or parties. i am going to a party tomorrow in fact... i may have some pasta and appetizers, but definitely not any processed sugars. i just dont crave it anymore since my detox.
I am bringing them a raw food recipe :D

I look forward to getting a dehydrator one of these days.
for now... i am using a food processor and other gadgets.

I have read the thread on health improvements. I'd like to experience a cure to my Endometriosis and bad PMS as well as clear my skin, digestive problems, and lose at least 30 lbs. In the meantime, I will enjoy the journey...

love to all,
tweety

WOW! Sounds like you are off and running into the Raw world! YAY for you!
Oh - if your Mom would eat raw she WOULD feel better. I'm 52, have had migraines my entire life and since going raw - 12 weeks ago? Not one migraine! There aren't many guarantees in life, but eating raw and becoming healthy IS a guarantee!!!

Welcome to the board Tweety!

I think you are wise to listen to your body. Already it's telling you good things lol. I started out the way you did, I thought I would just try to eat as much raw as I could and found this board and wow!!! there are all kinds of ideas & recipes and after reading this board I realized that raw was do-able. I am about 80-90% raw now. And when I go to the farmer's market and see those swiss chard--I can't resist them every time...I have to get them. They make me hungry.
