Okay.. I am in. I am already signed up for LA 2007. The course is a new one this year, so I am pretty excited. Now I am more excited to be able to run for a great cause. ;)
I need to kick my training into gear. I will check out the website.
Good luck at the Chicago Marathon KMIK. I want to hear all of the details when you get back.. I hope you had fun!! :D :D :D
Yeay Dogmd!!!! :D
Chicago was INCREDIBLE!!! But we have BIG PLANS for LA. Including Tim's probably going to have a training program there. (He's in Venice Beach :) )
Looking for people to help with organzing as well. Let me know if you have any time to contribute as well :) (And anyone else reading this that doesn't want to run, but wants to be a part of it!!!)

Yaah!! I live 10 min. south of Venice! I usually do all of my long runs on Venice Beach and the strand that runs along the coast there. That would be AWESOME to have help training. I should have time to help organize as well, as long as it is stuff I can do with an 15 month old baby in tow! ;)
I am glad you had a blast during Chicago. Thanks for this. I needed something like this to kick my butt in gear to get ready for LA!!

Wish I could join you but I'm on the east coast and can't get away that time of year....anyone doing NYC??????? I'll be there NEXT WEEKEND!!!!! BTW, for those of you who just ran Chicago, what did you bring along for fuel??? I noticed I was "hitting bottom" about mile 20-21 in the Hartford Marathon a few weeks ago and don't want a repeat performance in NYC (when I'm trying to ccatch LANCE!!!!) any ideas? I was thinking grapes in a baggy but I hate to carry/wear anything extra..... Good luck recruiting for LA....side note, I'm starting an exercise challenge for anyone interested for November...maybe we can get others interested in running LA if they start exercising NOW....It would be a good challenge! Check it out! :)
Happy trails!

Venice--Raw--LA Marathon????
I'm interested. PLease keep us posted.
Exercise challenge?? Interested.
You guys are inspiring me to be more regular with my bike commutes and yoga, too. It's far too easy to find an excuse to slide into the car rather than climb on the bike.
Diantha... while we don't have a NYC RunRaw Team for this year (we will next year) my co-director, Tim VanOrden may be there. It's my understanding that he'll be hanging out with Brendan Brazier who'll be marketing his mostly raw food bars at the expo. Please look for Tim, he loves to speak with other raw runners! (following is a picture so you know who you're looking for ;) ) (If he's not with Brendan, you might find him walking the expo, filming it)
Also, Tim made the Chicago RunRaw Team a concoction of coconut water, agave, dulse and sea salt. We had support crew members at designated stops along the way handing it out to team members. mmmm, good stuff!

One last note... we're taking the RunRaw Team NATIONWIDE! If anyone here is running a marathon in 2007 and would like to help establish a team for that race, please contact me at krista@runraw.org :D

Thank you! I will look for him at the expo! I am so excited to be going to NYC. I am already on a Marathon Team for the Children's Tumor Foundation on behalf of my son (www.ctf.org) but will help promote RAW whenever I can! Thanks for the "recipe" too. Did it taste good? My problem is I hate to carry ANYTHING and my dh and daughter will be handing out water at the mile 25 station so I won't see them until then....guess I can zip a small fuel belt bottle into my jacket (I don't like the way the belt jostles up & down)...and maybe some grapes....thanks for the tips!

Hey Kmik... Are you all still doing LA. Haven't heard from ya in a while?
Oh yes! Sorry, been scarce lately... more speaking engagements with Tim, and I did a 50k Ultra-marathon this past Saturday... and Tim did the Sears Tower race... 103 stories... took 5th place out of 1700 people!!!! Woohoo Raw Food!!!
Now we're on our way to Kansas City Thursday night and Denver Friday night to speak... information is on local raw food meetup's (www.meetup.com). But if anyone needs more info, let me know!
But... Tim and I have been discussing the LA Marathon Training program. Nothing concrete yet... but in the mean time, head on over to Terra Bella restaraunt in Redondo Beach on Wednesday, December 6 at 7:00 pm for a presentation by Tim :D
Oh, and I wanted to say... anyone who wants to be a part of the RunRaw Team for the LA Marathon, send me an email at LA@RunRaw.org and we'll keep in touch as things come together. (dogmd... don't think I have your email address, so if you could drop me a line, that'd be great!)

I sent it to the e-mail address that you registered at this site. That is probably what happened. Anyhoo.. Got the other e-mail address and yaah we have contact!!! :D
By the way. Tim Van Orden @ RunningRaw.com is the best speaker I have seen yet!! His explanation of raw hit home...I like the fact that he is very scientific. I was trained that way... so it makes more sense to me if someone else "breaks it down" to me like I am back in medical school. All of the information about metabolic and digestive enzymes and why cooking is the worst thing you can do to vegetables finally made sense to me. I had purchased 30 raw books searching for this information and FINALLY someone presented to me the same way that I was taught medically! I know this sounds crazy..but us medical people had sooo much hogwash drilled into our brains that it is very difficult to change that way of thinking and just believe... yaah know??
Anyhoo... I am sooo glad I went to the meeting and sooo glad that I will be running LA Marathon with you all!!!
