Well, I am ready to consider giving up my breakfast routine of french toast sticks...that is the last frontier...if it weren't for this last addiction I would be 100% raw. Can anyone help me figure out something similar to eat in the mornings? Also, here's a twist, I don't have a dehydrator...still saving up for that.

I don't eat until maybe 12-1 in the afternoon, so I just have a smoothie.

pineapple
strawberry
frozen banana
blueberries
2 oranges

But I bet a few slices of cantoulope with cinnamon would taste great for breakfast.

I usually have a smoothie in the morning to, but sometimes I have bananas or apples w/raw almond butter. To me raw almond butter on fruit is like a treat. Maybe having something sweet like this that actually is solid will help you?

Thank you both for your suggestions. They are wonderful foods! Perhaps is there anything more "cooked" tasting??? I know that may be a lot to ask, but I am out of ideas. :(

you can always try to eat stuff like leftover pie, whatever from the night before. Or you can get used to making up some nice raw bars or cookies or granola for yourself on the weekend that will get you through the weekday mornings, maybe add a piece of fruit for "elevensies".

I used to really like having a granola made with raw cacao that I ate straight from the bag. Or some sort of soft cookies with fruit in them.

Lately I have gotten into eating a corn on the cob for breakfast just plain and raw from a local farm with amazing corn.

Those are about all my ideas for "cooked" tasting... I find lately I'm having a couple apples, then getting my other balanced foods in later in the day.

maybe oatmeal could be your substitute for cooked? from the dehydrator it should be warm and gooey. i haven't personally made any yet but there are tons of recipes and you could add raisins and soaked and dehydrated apple pieces and cinnamon. ooh i'm making myself hungry!

these are all terrific suggestions! thanks so much everyone! by the way, this morning once I logged off I went ahead and had a banana that I dipped in my raw almond butter...I added a few grains of the sea salt since I am still getting used to the almond butter...and I was surprised at how good the combination was. I will look over your suggestions and plan my breakfast for tomorrow and eat it before I drop my girls off at school. Hopefully a full stomach will make it so that I dont screw myself up and get french toast sticks!

Try adding agave to the banana combo & you may have your french toast stick replacement. It's amazing how good the 4 ingredients taste together.

there are also some raw bread recipes out there that you don't have to dehydrate; they'll have a cooked consistency like the moist holiday breads you may have eaten in the past - zucchini bread/ banana nut bread, etc.

since I'm not in my kitchen, I can't check which of the books I've seen these in and don't remember off the top of my head, though putting the word out on this forum in the "Raw recipes and raw food preparation" section will likely be a good resource, or you might check the recipe links here, or just attempt to experiment with such items as ground almonds, ground flax seeds, bananas, zucchini, agave nectar or other sweetner of your choice, etc. Go for a taste and consistency that you like; make sure to write it down when you're creating it so that you can duplicate it later :)

Hi... There are people that use their oven instead of a dehydrator. You can get an inexpensive temperature gauge for your oven... to hook on rack... so you can make sure it doesn't go above 110-115 degrees. Perhaps you can post a question or someone who uses this method can share more about it. I think you leave the door cracked open just a little when using this method.

Also, there are some inexpensive dehydrators others have mentioned that work well for them. Maybe you could post a question for that or someone else can share more about that.

Here is a great banana bread recipe posted by SeaGrass7:

For a quickie, you could eat a Cinnamon Roll flavored Lara Bar, those are really good.

There are raw oats on Alissa's site! :) Always a yummy breakfast option. I copy/pasted the part from her site so you could read what she had to say about it. There are two recipes at the bottom! Yummy!

Description:

1lb bag
flaked to order
Most oats you find on the market and in health food stores are heat treated with steam or infra red light to extend the shelf life even though they say they are raw.

THESE oats are truly raw oats. They are freshly ground from whole oats in small batches. Im so excited! RAW OATS! Can you believe it? Well, it’s true, now you can have your cereal and eat it too!

The one major food item missing from the raw food diet and we have it here!

So all of you who have been craving your creamy oatmeal cereal, here it is. Just soak for a couple of hours or overnight (I usually only soak it for ½ hour since im impatient) and it still gets soft and creamy) add some bananas, raisins and your good to go! An amazing thing with these oats – you don’t even need to add almond milk or other nut milks. I just soak in water and add a little agave and some fruit and it tastes like a creamy, sweet porridge with a milk base!

Ingredients: oat groats, flaked

"Soak oatmeal in water or nut milk overnight or one hour prior to eating.
And then add your favorite dried or fresh fruits and flavorings and enjoy!"

Alissa's Recipe
Oatmeal soaked in water
Raisins
Bananas
Agave
Cinnamon

Cherie's Recipe
In this recipe the coconut oil and sea
salt taste like butter!

Oatmeal soaked in water
Agave
Coconut Oil
pinch of Sea Salt
Cinnamon
