Hiccups

My husband is not raw. He is a new vegetarian though (yeah!) Anyway for the past 2 days he has had the hiccups every hour or so. If he drinks a lot of water they go away until the next hour. What could be causing this? Any ideas? I'm worried...thanks.

Two things will always cause hiccups for me. Eating bread or raw carrots on an empty stomach. Not sure why these two foods would do it to me, but my mom and daughter are the same. I love raw carrots but I have to eat a bite or two of something else prior or it will be hiccups for sure!

Does he do anything that might cause him to swallow air? Not sure this would cause hiccups but I've read that it can cause burping. Things I can think of might be soda or other fizzy drinks, breathing through the mouth, chewing gum, and talking rapidly without taking time to breathe properly.
