View Full Version : I'm Pregnant!
I'm only 3 weeks, I had a feeling things weren't quite right! I was feeling extremely tired, and thought I'd already paid my dues with detox, or not?!?!
I'm so wrapped, although such early day's a little bit of anxiety is there too. If things should go well for me, then I'm so confident that I'm doing the right thing bringing a raw baby into the world.
I hope I'll be free of all the symptoms that make pregnancies difficult if not damn right miserable.
I'm a little bit nervous about nutrients, but I've been a bit that way before now too. I'm learning fast and reading so much about what I get out of each food, and what I need for a healthy pregnancy. It's difficult cause there aren't a lot of resources for raw, or many examples that I know of besides Jinjee's pregnany, if anyone knows anything please let me know.

Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you! :D :) :D
There are a few more threads that address this (just do a search for pregnancy on the site)- I responded to one of them about a book that Hallelujah Acres puts out. It's about raw pregnancy and raising raw kids. Here's the link to the thread, they sell the book on their website. Go down to my post and it's there!
Please keep us updated on how you are feeling! :)
Congrats again!!! :D

How wonderful!! You mentioned something the other day about this possibility, so it's not a complete surprise. You must be just thrilled. Children are such a gift. How phenomenal that you've been raw the entire time and plan to continue this way. Can't wait to hear how it all goes with your raw pregnancy and raising him/her!! :D

That is terrific SamL!!!! How wonderful to be pregnant and raw!!!! Since I have discovered raw, it saddens me that I didn't know this information while I was pregnant (3x's) for 8 years of my life (it seemed, w/nursing and all throughout).
I'm really happy for you that you will be able to give your baby the best most wonderful start in life!!! I'm anixous to see if you get the common ailments associated with the big 'P'... keep us posted!

That is so awesome! \0/
I was thinking about the conversation you and I had via PM...Your clean raw diet provided fertile ground, with lots of nutrients for the little one to grow & be nurtured in! :)
I wish you nothing but continued sucess as you integrate a high raw path into your pregnancy. You will certainly be an inspiration to many other raw mommies out there.

Congratulations Sam. That is WONDERFUL!
All the best to you and many blessings for a healthy happy pregnancy.
I've heard so many things about morning sickness! I hope you don't get it. I had it with all three, the worst with my last one. I've read that morning sickness can be caused by dehydration and detox. I've also read on Jenny Silliman's site about vitamin C helping emmensly with labor & delivery.
I know you can do it the way you want to. There are no better nutrients for your body than what you can get through fresh, whole natural uncooked food.

I'm so excited for you Sam! Congrats!
I wish I knew about raw when I was pregnant with my boys.
What a lucky baby ;)
I am very interested in raw pregnancies and will be following
your journey. Best of wishes for a smooth pregnancy :)
Sam that's excellent news!
I wish you the best health throughout your pregnancy!
Keep us updated :)
Thank you everyone for sharing in my happy news, I appreciate your response
So far the only symptoms have been dreams, my most recent one, I was trying to make friends with someone and offered her a cabbage leaf with a white pepper (no such thing! weird) sitting on top. She put a straw in hers and started drinking juice from the bottom, I was fascinated there was evenjuice in it, she started peeling it open and all this juice poured out from the bottom of it. too weird lol...

Hey Sam~ ran across this article and thought it could be ofinterest to you.
PREGNANCY AND RAW FOOD BABIES
IS IT SAFE TO CONTINUE TO EAT RAW FOOD IF I'M PREGNANT? AND, HOW DO I RAISE MY BABY ON RAW AND/OR VEGAN FOOD?
I think that whatever is good for adults is good for a child. You may find a lot of helpful information about raw babies and raw pregnancy at the e-magazine, www.vegetarianbaby.com
Unfortunately I have never been pregnant on raw diet. I know that there are several books coming soon written by mothers who have been pregnant on a raw food diet. I will have them on my website as soon as they are in print. You may also get detailed information about raw babies from Jinjee, mother of 4 raw babies at www.thegardendiet.com
The following doctors have written articles on Vegan Babies:
Michael Klaper MD
Dean Ornish MD
These articles have been published by EarthSave Magazine.
You can find them online: www.earthsave.org and www.vegsource.org Here are some other helpful websites:
email@example.com. www.unassistedchildbirth.com. You may, also, want to contact Hygeia Halfmoon or Laura Shanley.
Another good source is a magazine from the United Kingdom, "Get Fresh". You may look at it at www.fresh-network.com. There was an article about pregnancy in a recent issue of this magazine; it was by Karen Knowler.

awww...how sweet! You even announced it on valentines day! I haven't been on line the last few days, just found out today. So YAY !!!! for you and your family!!! I am thrilled for you :D . I think sweet goddess is onto something...maybe you should consider documenting everything. You already have a start with your journalling here. We'll be praying that everything goes smoothly! God bless you and your little one!
Victoria, thank you for your encouragement, I only just remembered that hubby was all doting and suspicious a week or two before I knew.
Carmel, you are such a rare gem, thank you so much for taking the time and coming up with so much information for me to browse. You put a big smile on my face this morning. I can't wait to get started. I've read through the garden diet books, I loved Jinjee's journey, I'm really anxious to read more.
Thank you so much Michelle, it's good to see you around again. I think you and Carmel might be right, I'll have to try to write about this experience, even if it turns out not good enough, but great for a keepsake journal.
I've ordered the book Joopie suggested "Raw pregnancy and raising Raw kids"
You've all been so wonderfully helpful encouraging and supportive
Thanks for sharing in my excitement. :)

Congratulations SamL :D
Here are a couple of boards, one active, one not-so-active, but you might hook up with some other pregnant women, or those who were recently pregnant and raw:
Here are some websites that may be of interest to you:
This one does have some good info in there. You just have to pick around in it to find info pertaining to eating all raw:

I feel so blessed, thank you for your thoughts Sweet Lips Brian and Myself are over the moon, our kids are too.
Thank you so much Helen for taking the time to find all these resources, I'm so lucky to have this kind of support, there's been so much more information than I ever dreamed.
I'm going to go check these sites out now...

congratulations :) I hope all goes well for you. I am currently also 20 to 25 weeks pregnant with baby 2. I am high raw and have not really had a lot of symptoms, there was a little bit of mild nausea at teh beginning but overall I have had a lot of energy - I have 4 friends who are also pregnant and they wonder how I can have energy for everything that I do! Anyway, so far so good. With my first son I was around 80 to 85% raw and had a totally healthy and big baby boy with a labor that only lasted 6 hours total. So it was really good.
I have not come across a lot of sources for raw pregnancy either. I hope you will share if you find anything.
I journal at www.eco-centric.it if you want to see what I have been eating. You have to click on the UK flag and then on blog and then you will find us. Anyway, I have been higher raw with this pregnancy than with the first and have been feeling awesome.
