I love drinking Kombucha that I buy from Whole Foods. They say that there are trace amounts of alcohol in it... how can that be as healthy as they say Kombucha is??

Hmmmm. I wonder if it's from the fermenting? Did you try a search (banana up top) and see if this has been addressed before?

Yes it is fermented, like Miso, or Namo Shoya is (hence all the good bacteria, etc in it).
The alcohal content is very minute/trace, and not noticeable to most people...my kids could go in the store and buy it I am sure. But yes, there is a very very slight trace of alcohal content in it.

Be sure to be aware of who is saying that kombucha is good for us. Yep, it's fermented, but lots of folks wonder if fermenting it with sugar (processed white sugar) is a good thing. And ... the "mushroom" (like the "mother" in vinegar) is a mold, right? I've heard several AA people refuse to drink kombucha because of the alcohol content, but have heard more refuse because they view it as a not-raw not-healthy choice. That said, if the choice is between a kombucha and Diet Coke ... well, I'd say drink up the kombucha. As with all marginal/transitional raw foods, I'm thinkin it's each person's choice to make for themselves.
