This Dance Dance Revolution game I just for got playstation is the 'stuff'!!!! :D
They said on a website somewhere that people get so hooked on it that they can lose up to 60 pounds in the first 3 months! I now totally see how that is possible!! It is SO MUCH FUN!!! I literally wake up, jump out of bed & race my 3 year old to the game! Grandma loves it too & plays with us! I have never been coordinated enough to dance & can't even do it in the privacy of my own room because heck I don't even know what to do! But now.. after only a couple days I feel like a dance master!!! There is even a workout mode where you enter your weight & it keeps track of how many calories you burn total & per song! You can choose from many different songs that are slow with slower footwork or supafast where you are non stop movin! It also keeps track of how many miles you've gone.. right now tonight i'm almost at a mile & i've burned 117 calories! If I go the 10 miles I will have burned an estimated 1200 calories, which means on the typical recomended 2000 calorie a day diet I will have lost so much weight!!!!! Which means I can eat as much as I like now! LMAO

This is the one I got:
http://www.ddrgame.com/dance-dance-revolution-m03588-m00724.html

(you can get it anywhere they sell playstation games though, Target has em ect.)

And I got the playstation 2 at a pawn shop so it was cheap! :D

You can also get it for your computer instead of having to buy a game system!

I hope to get the actual arcade metal pad with handlebar soon too, check it out:

Ok there are beginner songs that are fast & burn more calories so the total is off.. I can do way fewer songs & burn much more faster! :D

I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MUCH FUN IT IS!!! And i'm really working up a sweat! I have to sit down & catch my breath between some songs!

YES!! I LOVE DDR!!

I need a new dance pad, though, mine is getting old and breaking

My favorite song is Afronova Primeval!!

I play using the "training mode" because there is a setting that adds a handclap to the song and I love it!! It adds so much to the song! lol

I know when I saw I had it was amazing!! I was still on the computer between the really fast/hard ones! I can't remember the last time I WALKED a mile LOL! But it is just so much fun! I saw these two teenage girls at the arcade today playing it & man they were FAST & doing some way complicated stuff!!! I can't do any of that yet! It just looks confusing! But seeing them play like that taught me a trick or two! :D

Do you find that yours slips around a lot? It doesn't look like that one is the non-slip one.

Of course I think the pad would go on the carpet, for me. I don't have enough room for it on the tile floor.

Ginger
10-03-2006, 07:34 PM
Mine has non-slip but it does slowly move around a bit.. I just ordered the metal arcade one for 199.00 that'll stay put for sure! And as much as I use the think I think it's worth it! :D

Go to your local gaming store, such as GameStop, and buy a Playstation 2, a dancepad, and one(or more) of the DDR games :D

Kerilyn

ok, so I'm in. haha I want to know more though. I live with my parents still and the only place I could do it would be one of the two living rooms (both carpet) We use both rooms a lot and I want to know what I should buy to start with. I don't know if I need a non-slip pad if it's on carpet, and I would like something that I can "pick up" after I'm done with it and put it away until the next use so it's not in the middle of the floor all the time. Any suggestions on what I should order and where. I have NOTHING..no gaming system/games/pads or MONEY! hehe. I like the idea of going to a "used" store to save on the expenses. I no nothing about gaming systems though, so it makes me nervous to buy anything used not knowing what to look for.

RVM, has the metal pad showed up yet? How do you like it?

Ginger
10-18-2006, 11:22 PM
Yep & i've gone up from beginner mode to light mode & now to regular mode! I tell ya what even after 3 songs i'm sweating & out of breath but darned if I can stop playing! It is SO addictive!!! I like the cheapie pad it came with but the handlebar on the metal arcade pad really comes in handy! Plus it has a different sensitivity. The one it came with you can barely tap it & it registers but the arcade one you have to do it a bit harder & more precise! Oh & it has pretty lights that light up! hehe

Kerylin i'm sure they have some kind of guarantee or a return policy if it dosn't work at the used game shops or pawn shops.

Which game do you use? I got one for my kids and they really didn't get into it - I think the songs weren't fun enough for them.

Ginger
01-12-2007, 06:21 PM
I have:

DDR Max
DDR Max 2
DDR Extreme 2
DDR Supernova

They even make one you don't need a game system for, just a tv, and it's all disney songs!

Thanks!

We do have the pads, bought them for the purpose of having PE for homeschool, but they end up doing a lot of taekwondo which covers it. They just didn't get into the songs, but I think maybe one of those might be funner for them to do.

Sharon; depending on the age of your kids you might consider DDR Mario Mix for the Nintendo GameCube. It's aimed at a younger audience.

I have a ten year old daughter and we have DDR Mario for the GameCube and also DDR Ultramix 4 for the XBox.

Click below to hear my favorite song on DDR Ultramix 4, but be warned it will make you want to jump up and down and it will stick in your head all day!

Paprika, I pulled out the dusty Maxx game and they are doing it every night now - even getting me and the Equal-half involved.

Note: musicians will kill in this. My husband acts like he's been doing this all his life, while I'm stinking at it!

I think I'm going to jump and order the mat and a game really soon, as a birthday present for me. Of those 4 games, which one do you like the best?

Also, I know you said you got a metal mat, could you point me in the direction of the one you got? There are a whole bunch and it makes it a little hard to choose. I have a PS2 and an xbox, if that makes a difference.

jenna rose

Awesome! I was thinking about the handlebar but they are a bit pricier. I'll just a regular metal mat and use a chair if I need to!

Thanks so much for your help, RVM :)

-goes off to order-

I have to recomend getting a metal pad, based on personal expereance, even if it's even the cheapest one you can find (that's what I did). For beginner mode it really dosn't matter too much if you start out with the cheap one you can buy with the game but especially if you are serious about getting better at it or playing as part of your excercise routein, definitly go metal! You SO won't regret it! Mine is on carpet too! It has a soft bottom though if you have wood floors or something.

If you start off playing without the handlebar, you won't even miss it!

ooooh. cool. I guess that would make it easier. when i do heavy mode, i make sure i stretch a lot!!

Sometimes I have to play another round just because it's the only way to hear the songs that gets stuck in my head LOL! :D

I just set up my game to where the rounds last 5 songs instead of 3! That way it's like 15 minutes per game! Makes it really easy to get my minimum hour of cardio in each day! I just play 4 games a day!

I just purchased DDR for my Wii system and it is the best!! First of all, the Wii is already an interactive system that provides a wonderful workout. But to have the DDR on the Wii system. I can honestly see how people are losing 60 lbs in no time.

IF you don't have DDR in your household...GET IT!!
