I've been raw for 4 months now and the last few days I have the weirdest stuff going on.... I just can't get warm, a hot shower or a run warm me for a bit, but then I get really really cold again and just can't seem to shift it. I'm wearing layers of clothes and a hat in bed! I feel unbelievably drained and mentally confused, walking into a room and forgetting what I'm doing etc., and I have this strange inner trembling that's not showing on the outside but I feel it on the inside. Is this the next stage of detox, or am I really loosing it?!

Opinion:
Yes. Detox.
-Eat a wide variety of raw foods......eat less raw foods.....and transition slowly if you wish (I certainly advocate this). Take some light sunbaths in the morning or afternoon.
-Just some suggestions.

Your symptoms sound like hypothyroid.

Iron deficiency could be plausible as well. Is your face, gums or nails very pale?

Yup, I'm a bit pale. I've been wondering about iron as I recently get dizzy every time I stand up from leaning over, which used to happen when I was a kid, and was "diagnosed" as iron deficiency.
Is getting low on iron a common theme for raw foodists, and how do you combat it (without pills)?

Addams-Definitly load up on iron foods.
I think that low iron is very common in raw foodists since we eat a lot of fiber and foods high in phytates. These both hinder iron's absorption. In addition there are not all that many iron rich raw sources...there are some but those usually contain phytates. Soaking the nuts will decrease the phytates though so make sure to soak/sprout all nuts and seeds.
I like hemp and seaweed for iron. Dulse flakes have a lot. Other sources are sprouted lentils, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, tahini, sunflower seeds, cashews, figs, prunes, and pistachios.

Vgloveforlife - that's what I'm going to do, load up on iron rich foods, and I'm so glad you told me what those are, because my neighbor's been going on all afternoon about how "what I need is a big steak" ..!!!
juliebove - I did a little research online about hypothyroidism, which led on to sites about perimenopause (yikes!), so I'm going to look into that too, as I've had a few "female" issues since going raw.
DavidZaneMason - I've stuck to simple foods today and took a sunbath this afternoon, and actually don't need a sweater right now, so I think it helped!
Thanks all - this community ROCKS!!

Dulse also has lots of iodine, so if you're hypothyroid, it'll help.
