Hey Tucsonans!

I found a new favorite store today... the newly remodeled Fry's at Harrison and 22nd... wow!

Now, I hate Fry's because the two near my house are just plain nasty (esp. Golf Links/Kolb). I've been a Safeway fan, but after reading the "what's your favorite water" thread, here I went to that Fry's to try some Penta water -- which they carry, by the way.

They have a good organic section for a "regular" store. And they have fruits and veggies I've never even heard on this board.

They have huge aloe spears, cactus pads of assorted varieties, horned melon, starfruit, red jalapenos, easy-crack coconuts, and a bunch of other stuff I don't remember. Some of that I've seen in other stores, but it's always tucked away. Here it's out in the open and though it may sound weird, it's like they appreciated it. (RP, I know you'll understand that ;))

Maybe the co-op carries some of this stuff, but I haven't seen it all at Sunflower or at New Life on Speedway (my other favorite store.)

For what it's worth....

Oh yeah, and they sell hubby's acidophilus milk for 50 cents cheaper than Safeway! That's about an $8-10 per month savings right there.

My hubby and I 'snowbirded' in Tucson for 2 winters. You have the best selection of distilled water stores we've ever seen! Natch, I can't remember the name, anyway, all stainless equipment, fill your own bottles..health food store. Safeway is the most expensive store imho. :)

Wow, it would be nice if MY Frys here in Phoenix area would do that! Tucson is smaller but in many ways it has always been more progressive and I think that there has been a core community down there for so many years that makes them think it is a good place to try it out.

Well, I sure wish they'd get progressive with a Whole Foods... on the EAST side :)

It's definitely not all Fry's stores. This one is so far beyond the other ones, I wonder if they're different owners or district managers or something, even though that doesn't make sense. Basically I think it comes down to different the different customer base.
