Emotional struggle dealing with police and son getting sexually assaulted and physically hurt and bullied at school. My body started stinking. Teeth got fuzzy like when eating SAD. I was tired and vision poor. Broke down and ate SAD Friday. As usual (sorry for this but it is a symptom)...my raw bowels don't move much but when I have a bout of SAD it really cleans me out. Got a low-grade fever, nasty headache and extreme extreme nausea. Since I have been possibly exposed to Hanta, West Nile and ecoli - I am wondering how I can know what is going on with my body? I finally broke down and took some Aleve which has alleviated it enough that I can get out of bed and do a little although I still have it. Are there clues that experienced people know how to tell if it is detox or a bug or what? Thank you for your consideration.

I'm so sorry for the problems your son has had!

Stress can affect the body mightily and bring on all sorts of problems as it lowers the ability of your immune system tremendously. Eating SAD after you've been raw at such a time can bring on symptoms like you're describing as your body tries to rid itself of what it perceives as poisons. As to the potential of a virus, you'll have to wait and see. If you eat lightly and raw..and drink a lot of water...maybe some with lemon or acv in it, these symptoms should clear up quickly if it's detox.

With E-Coli, you generally have a lot of diarrhea though, and I don't know any of the symptoms for hanta or wnv, sorry.

Feel better!

Yeah, I didn't want water - just green juice but too sick to make it! Did alot of fresh vegetable juice in AM before incapacitated. . . But I was drinking water much more than I usually need on RAW. Late last night I started eating fruits and vegetables again. Also wondering how to help son heal - he has friends over and has just been going social in a big way so I suppose that can be a form of healing and being safe with his friends. The smell of their food sure does not help nausea! I have got to get this outta my system so I can go to work tomorrow! Lemon water.....wonder if I should get some of the wheatgrass at the HFS and see if my juicer can do it?

All discomfort is the body attempting to handle something we have done to it. This is true from a scratch to a broken bone and from overeating at a family holiday meal to smoking, destroying the nutritional value of food before eating it or using recreational drugs. Whatever we do to harm our body it instantly starts trying to overcome and eliminate the problem. Unfortunately by the time we get sick we have ignored the warnings many times for years.

All symptoms are always the body trying to heal itself. Alissa talks about this in her book. When we take anything to stop the symptoms we are actually stopping the body from healing and later we will have a worse reaction. If we continue in this course of never allowing the body to care for itself the warnings and attempts get stronger and stronger until we end up with full blown disease.

The word detox is really misused. Our bodies are ridding themselves of toxins continuously. Every time we exhale we are detoxing so it is not reserved for sickness.

I agree with Mongomango in that when this happens we should eat lightly, drink water, and give our body all the rest it needs.

Hope you are feeling better soon,
Teri S

I dunno, if it were me, I would juice half a lemon and mix it with water and just plain water. That is really all I would have. The less you have to digest, the more your body can focus on fixing what's wrong. For my body, the wheatgrass juice would be an impediment to healing during the crisis stage.

Did dandelion juice before writing in. Now am doing lemon water. Dh bought lemons for me to get the stains out ds's white t-shirts. I have limes also. The store is a short drive so the nausea should not affect me being able to get more. Am going for my 2nd batch of lemon water!
