Are frozen foods still considered raw by most people? My understanding is that fruits for sure would still be considered raw but they lose some of their enzyme content and are of course not as good as fresh....What about vegetables though? Many raw recipes call for frozen corn and I am just curious if anyone out there knows the scoop on frozen fruits and vegetables and whether or not they are raw. Also, what about freeze dried? I would assume that completely destroys the enzymes but as I am not sure about anything I thought I would post it here to find out if anyone has any insight on this. Thanks!

yeah lots of people freeze bananas to do smoothies and ice cream...
smasty said a while back - remember that news story where a baby was born from frozen egg (or sperm, can't remember) that had been frozen aaaaaaaaages... good point.
I like frozen fruit in the summer, bananas are really good
Maybe not full of life force but definitely raw.
Marigold's right about the veg though - I was into frozen peas for a bit but they were VERY different to raw peas, and really sparked my cooked cravings too for that matter.

I don't know of any raw frozen corn or peas or any other vegetable for that matter. Unles you hear it straight from the manufacturer, I wouldn't assume the fruit was un-cooked either. If you are able to find a brand of corn or fruit that is un-cooked and verify it from the manufacturer, please let me know!

That is a good point but on the other hand if the sperm/egg was cooked somehow I don't think it would have been viable lol. I guess basically then if the vegetable was cooked or blanched before freezing it's definately not raw but if it is raw to begin with and then frozen it should be okay. I am surprised because the raw food book I have often calls specifically for frozen corn.....Do you think it is possible frozen corn would be treated differently from peas or other vegetables and perhaps not be heat treated? The reason I ask is because I love corn and fresh corn here is about two dollars for one ear so frozen organic is much cheaper but I don't want to buy it if it was cooked. My other question then is does anyone know if frozen fruits are in fact raw or if they too are blanched before freezing? Thanks again!

Hi Guys!!
Yeah, a baby was born this year from sperm that had been frozen for 30 years. After reading that, I decided that freezing my homemade juice for 48 hours is probably ok :p
But...I think all commercial frozen veggies are blanched. If you freeze, I'd freeze it yourself from raw.
