Is anyone here raw and doing crossfit? Just looking for some support. I have been doing it for a couple of weeks and loving it. Here's the site: www.crossfit.com I follow the workouts of the day and am feeling great. Anyone?

I just discover Crossfit about a two weeks ago. This stuff is great. It is very similar to the primal workouts that Rocannon does, but they add more gymnastics and weightlifting.

I just recently heard about this and decided to try it. I went for my fitness assessment today and I start the private coaching next week. How are you all doing while being raw? Crossfit really pushes the Zone and Paleo diet don't they?

Yes they do. The good news is you can do a Raw-Paleo-Zone diet. :D The hardest part is getting the protein, but it can be done.

do you think we actually need as much protein as they push if you're doing crossfit? What about all these books like The China Study and 80/10/10 that say we don't need as much protein as the mainstream health "experts" tell us?

Today I did my third crossfit workout, and although I ate less than normal (today only fruit), I felt great and had a green smoothie when I got home. I get less hungry when I work out hard.

I see what my trainer snacks on and I think yuck (salami, cheese, olives). He looks good though and is super fit. He's really pushing the meat protein and thinks I'm silly for being vegan. I don't even think he's heard of raw before.

I've been doing crossfit with a trainer in Palm Springs for two weeks & just went 100% raw yesterday. The work out today was really hard but I feel great & think that the style of functional fitness & raw food is a perfect fit!!!

I'd say stick to your raw vegan diet and continue the Crossfit. Use vegan protein sources and don't adopt the trainers poor diet.

Yeah I will stick to the raw vegan lifestyle I want to have. I've fallen off track a bit in terms of eating rice, cooked veggies, fish, and tofu. I'm starting to understand this slippery slope business. My tastebuds are back to wanting more cooked food, whereas before I stopped enjoying cooked food.

My trainer just started to have me record everything I eat. He's going to laugh his ass off at my green smoothies and mass amounts of fruit. I just started with Hemp protein powders in my smoothies. Hopefully that'll shut him up a bit :-)
Nah, he's nice. He doesn't believe in what I want to do with raw vegan, but he's not trying to change me. Maybe I'll surprise him and really excel on raw.

Check out Tim VanOrden's site, www.runningraw.com. 100% raw vegan runner who's had some amazing results. He's a major inspiration to me and is proof that the raw vegan diet is great for competitive athletics.

how is everyone doing with crossfit???

I've been doing it now for about three weeks and loving it. I get such a high off of it.

Still confused about the diet thing. The trainers look great and keep on preaching the zone diet and paleo. I don't know anyone that is raw or even vegan that is doing crossfit. A few people that started crossfit vegan, came out meat eaters.

How are you guys doing with being raw and doing crossfit or something just as intense?

like you, i love functional fitness/bodyweight stuff, and like you, my encounters with personal trainers, crossfit and others, have been sucky in terms of the diet. one guy "fired" me for not following his diet advice... he thought it was stupid to be raw and loved to remind me of that fact-- forget the fact that i was gaining strength/endurance/flexibility and losing weight at a rapid pace at the time. some people don't let the facts stand in the way of their opinion. and when i joined crossfit for awhile i loved the workouts but i got sick of answering the questions about protein and hearing all the propaganda. i KNOW this is the right diet for me, and i don't want to be questioned about it, i just want to work out and get fit dangit!

i finally threw up my hands with the trainer stuff and started educating myself, trying lots of different things. i follow crossfit workouts online sometimes, and i also workout with kettlebells and do DIY functional strength training. recently i teamed up with a bunch of raw friends that i met online and started a little forum for folks interested in tracking their fitness progress on raw foods while getting peer support. we're also going to have guest appearances and advice from raw foods fitness trainers. check it out: www.rawveganfitness.com

we're starting our first "challenge" this weekend, and it goes through the end of june. if you want more info, PM me!

Been meaning for a while to enter my first half marathon....but it keeps happening that I have to work on all the days that the marathons I know about thus far are scheduled...so not me procrastinating, just work getting in the way.
