Hi All,
I just finished my 2nd underwater weight test today. Some great news and some not so great news.
I lost 12.6 lbs of fat - very kooool!
But I also lost 5.9 lbs lean mass - very baaaddddddd!!!!!
So - I was 247.5 - I am now 229.
I have to figure out how to not lose any more muscle mass....
I no longer have night sweats - I used to have to change the sheets in the middle of the night..
I have alot more energy than before.
Alot of small things have improved.
Thanks for reading

That's great! Congrats! How are you eating? Fruits, greens? How often are you eating? I think that if you eat small frequent meals it would help with retaining muscle. The body will burn muscle as well as fat if you go too long between meals with out supplying your body with sufficient energy. Fruits are excellent for retaining muscle since sugars are the prefered energy source for the body. I would just eat balanced sugars(fruits, etc.) and fats (nuts, avos, olive oil) and don't go too long between meals.

I don't eat very often currently. I am just not hungry. On a SAD diet I was always hungry. I could eat 2 huge bowls of pasta and 1 hour later want more. Now, 2 bananas and I am stuffed. I know I need to eat more, so I will try and eat every few hours.
Thanks Ken

What are you doing in the way of exercise? You should consider strength training if you want to maintain or increase your muscle mass.

I know what you mean about your appetite decreasing since you aren't taking in any appetite stimulators. You just have to watch your body for cues, like a noticeable drop in energy or a restless feeling. Hunger is felt much more differently on raw. I eat every hour, hour and a half. I start getting a tired feeling and I can't focus when my blood sugar level drops, so I eat small meals frequently to prevent it, even if I am not all that hungry. The trick is you don't want to let yourself feel too hungry.

My mind is getting clearer by the day....
I have been thinking alot about my muscle loss....
It doesn't make sense to me. After much thinking and research I think atleast 4-5 lbs of the loss is water in my system. It makes more sense that I have eliminated extra water and crap from my system in the last 30 days than have lost 5.9 lbs lean mass. All that loss would show up as lean mass in an underwater weighting.
I do weight train and am just as strong, if not stronger than SAD. My muscles do look slightly smaller but not emanciated like a big loss like that would reflect. My next weighting is on or about Oct. 20th. I bet I gain muscle on that weighting..... We shall see if my thoughts are correct.
Thank you for the replies - pics to follow
