DH won a trip (through work) to go to Puerto Rico. It is an all expense paid trip :D Even though I HATE FLYING :o I was worried about what complications I might have trying to stay raw. Will raw veggies and fruit be SAFE to eat there?? I've heard of SOME countries where you might not want to eat fresh produce. Does anyone know. The brochure listed several really nice restaurants.....I need your advice.

How long are you going for? Maybe you can check with the airport about their policy of bringing food. I don't know if it's allowed, but a lot of food will last for at least a few days. Other than that, I don't know, but they must have some sort of fresh produce around that you can eat. It's not like bad water, I don't think, that you have to worry about when you go to Mexico.

You're traveling from one of the USA to part of the US, and it's fairly close to Florida, so I don't think you'll have any legal problems with bringing food. But ask APHIS anyway. For bringing food to eat on the plane, ask the airline.

I have heard that you can get fresh acerola in Puerto Rico.

Oh sorry, we will be leaving next Friday coming back on Monday....so not a real long time, but I would still like to remain raw. I thought of taking some Lara Bars or maybe even some crackers and treats in my suitcase???? Should I call the airport? Some raw snacks would make it easier! Thanks.

I believe that one branch of Ann Wigmore's Hippocrates Institute is in Puerto Rico...It might be a good place to get to a raw meal...

Local farmers grow tropical fruit, pineapples, guavas, papayas, starfruit and 14 different kinds of bananas. San Sebastián fruit and vegetable market is famous for its quality fresh produce.

Oh YAY! I wish I was going to Puerto Rico, I have family there.

This place looks awesome http://www.annwigmore.org/ Maybe you can stop by for a day and have some live foods. I know they do 1 and 2 week retreats but it also says that people vacationing in Puerto Rico could come by and learn about Living Foods. Enjoy your trip!

My dbf has family there and always talks about the yummy mangos and coconuts that grow everywhere. Just make sure not to park under a coconut tree. :D You should be in tropical fruit heaven!!
