Some recommend a website - please. It can be a raw corn tortilla type of chip or something with a mexican flavor and some heat. I don't have a dehydrator. I am going do an online order for some other things and wanted to treat myself to a bag. I believe I deserve this reward. I've seen a ton of websites but I want to see what eveyone's opinions are about which site sells the best crunchy and flavorful chips.

Are you aware this is a raw website, and that for some people struggling, that's going to be a trigger?

Any recipes for this?

There are some recipes here. Just use the search (banana) at the top of the screen. However, I don't personally think any of them taste like SAD chips at all. In fact, every recipe I tried went straight in the trash. I didn't like any of them.

The "point" is then they're not cooked, SAD food, hon. You know..the point of this ENTIRE message board.
OH-- and don't IM me on my personal IM again. I will say all the things I can't say here (again). Thanks, hon.

ANYWAY...
Lavendar, I know you want them premade, but I can't find them premade. I did find these recipes that sound better than some of the others I've seen on this site:

Hey Lav,
RawFood.com has a lot of crackers, they're flax, not corn, though. They have a mexican flavored one! :)
Here're all the crackers:

She doesn't have a dehydrator. Hence the reason I deleted that post.
I, too, would like to know if anyone has tried them premade and which were the best.

My point is/was, what's the point of eating something that tastes nasty...
Seriously, if organic-raw food tasted like crap, I would go back to SAD in a heartbeat, probably.

I was at a store Erwhon Market in Lost Angeles, lol, And they sold these tiny packs of raw organic chips, the bag was like 8 oz and was like $3.99... I was like Oh heck no. So expensive, but I wish I had the brand name maybe they have a site and can find it cheaper online? Dunno...

Hey Lavandar, email me!
There are some things you are just not going to find that tastes EXACTLY like their SAD counterparts. Some things will taste like or close to...some things will taste better. But some things you just have to make a personal choice to either give UP the craved food or reprogram your tastebuds to appreciate the raw versions or, as goldsplinter did, decide you are gonna eat a non-raw version.
I made a cracker with flax seeds (ground), corn, tomatoes, onions, cumin, chili powder, cayenne and sea salt. The veggies weren't pureed but left a little chunky. OH and I used bagged, organic frozen corn, not fresh as fresh corn gives a weird, bitter taste after being dehydrated... so use your own discretion there! Some say you can use fresh corn that you cut and freeze...but from my experience, it was still bitter...so I picked and chose my battles on that one and chose to use what I used.
They came out delicious IMHO and others who tried them thought they were good too. Sorry I don't have exact measurements for all you who need exact recipes...I usually do things on the fly.
Did they taste like Tostitos or other SAD tortilla chips? Nope! Were they good in their own right? Yep! REALLY good dipped in Alissa's nacho cheese (or any raw cheese sauce you can find online that has red bell pepper in the mixture...just add some jalepeno and maybe a little orange juice to it).
But again, there are just some things you can't and won't duplicate the exact taste and/or texture of in raw prepared foods...raw pancakes will NOT taste like IHOP or Aunt Jemima...raw nut burgers will NOT taste like something from a drive-thru...but again, reprogramming the taste buds and/or just saying farewell to certain things is what sometimes needs to be done.

I couldn't agree with you more. After 2 weeks raw I changed my mindset and haven't gone back! It makes me appreciate the flavor of raw food concoctions more & more. I love my food and don't expect it to taste like anything from my SAD days.

The first one I can't do because it has almonds (I'm allergic) in it and has enough other stuff that I wouldn't call it "corn" chips. Tried the second one and it didn't taste anything (taste or texture) like corn chips to me. But others have tried it and liked it.

I would've grabbed 'em.

I use the recipe in the 2nd link, but leave out the tomato powder and add some salt. Unfortunately, you do need a dehydrator for them. I LOVE them, even though they don't taste like regular tortilla chips. They've got a little sweetness (reminds me of the crusty parts that stick to the pan when making creamed corn). Oh, and to keep things simple, I don't cut lines in them, just dehydrate (lots longer than the recipe calls for) and then break them up. Now I'm hungry..... :)
